The two of them got out of the car and walked towards a nearby fast-food restaurant. At that moment, neither of them anticipated that they would encounter someone unexpected inside!
As they entered the fast-food restaurant, they noticed that there weren't many customers. Aside from a few elderly people who had just finished their morning exercise and came in for breakfast, there was a Young Man sitting in a corner.
The Young Man was dressed in a black T-shirt and blue jeans, with a pair of very dirty casual shoes on his feet. His appearance was casual and unkempt. His hair was neither long nor short, but extremely messy, which was quite off-putting. He was squatting on a chair, slightly hunched over, with his left hand gripping his hair while his right hand rummaged through a transparent plastic bag on the table filled with gummy candies, seemingly having a great time.
Zou Xingjing frowned, thinking to himself, “What an odd person!”
While he was lost in thought, he suddenly heard Song Nian shout, “Hey! Is this how you usually play?”
The Young Man turned his head slightly to glance at Song Nian, his expression blank and devoid of any emotion.
Does Song Nian know this strange Young Man? Zou Xingjing wondered.
Song Nian strode over to the Young Man and said indignantly, “Last time we were on Luoyan Island, you offered me some candy, and I ate it without hesitation. So this is what you do when you have nothing to do? Just mess around with these candies? How disgusting! Luckily, I only ate one last time.”
The Young Man replied with a dazed expression, “It’s not that you only ate one; it’s that I only gave you one.”
“What are you saying? This is terrible! The more I think about it, the more nauseous I feel. Now I can’t even eat breakfast!”
Zou Xingjing walked over and asked Song Nian, “Song Nian, is this your friend?”
“Yeah,” Song Nian nodded.
Zou Xingjing nodded slightly at the Young Man, offering a faint smile as he said, "Hello, my name is Zou Qixia, and I am a friend of Song Nian."
The Young Man glanced at Zou Xingjing and replied coolly, "I know you; you are a criminal police officer."
Zou Xingjing was taken aback and couldn't help but ask, "How do you know? Who are you?"
The Young Man licked his left thumb and spoke slowly, "About a month ago, there was a murder case at a cosmetics company in L City. The murderer killed the victim with an axe in front of several witnesses and then vanished into a locked room. You were in charge of investigating that case, Zou Qixia, right?"
The more Zou Xingjing listened, the more astonished he became. He steadied his mind and asked calmly, "Who are you? We haven't disclosed any details about this case to the public; how do you know?"
The Young Man twisted his neck slightly and replied, "There were three witnesses to the murder, one of whom is named Guan Minyin. After the case was solved, you informed Guan Minyin of the results but refused to tell her how the incident unfolded. She was very curious about the mystery of how the murderer disappeared from the locked room but couldn't figure it out on her own, so she came to me for help to uncover the mystery and satisfy her curiosity."
"I see," Zou Xingjing nodded. "So did you manage to solve the mystery for her in the end?"
"The answer is obvious; one can discern the truth without much thought," the Young Man said coldly.
Zou Xingjing let out a soft huff, thinking to himself: I racked my brains just to barely crack that locked room mystery, yet you claim that one can know the truth without any thought? What arrogance!
Song Nian's voice interrupted Zou Xingjing's thoughts: "It sounds like a very interesting case! Zhang Qing, next time tell me all the details about that locked room case."
As Song Nian spoke only halfway through, Zou Xingjing's mind exploded with realization.
Because he heard Song Nian mention the name "Zhang Qing."
As soon as Song Nian finished speaking, Zou Xingjing involuntarily called out to the Young Man, "You are Zhang Qing?"
The Young Man, Zhang Qing, responded with a low "mm," his face still devoid of any expression.
"So it's you!" Zou Xingjing exclaimed excitedly. "I've heard your name! In the Criminal Investigation Team, I've already heard three people mention you!"
"Oh?" Zhang Qing's expression shifted slightly, showing a hint of curiosity.
Zou Xingjing licked her lips and said, "Zheng Tianwei said you seem to have the ability of clairvoyance and clairaudience; it’s as if every case happens right under your nose, and nothing can be concealed from you. He really made you sound like a deity. But that's not all; what's strange is that even that proud and arrogant Shen Aotian said you actually have some skills. When he talked about you, I could tell he was genuinely impressed. I've never seen him respect anyone else like that. But what surprised me the most is that even my idol—Captain Yu Wen—couldn't stop praising you. She even said that compared to you, her reasoning and observational skills pale in comparison."
Zou Xingjing went on and on, indirectly giving Zhang Qing such high praise, yet there was no sign of joy on Zhang Qing's face.
It was Song Nian who continued from Zou Xingjing's words: "Oh, you're talking about the Vice Captain of the L City Criminal Police Team—Yu Wen Ya Ji. I know her too; she was with us when we went to Luoyan Island last time. She really is an exceptionally intelligent person!"
Suddenly, Zhang Qing interjected, "Have you encountered a difficult case?"
