I had worked at Haoran Technology for six years.
I was the top performer, and the financial situation had never encountered a major issue.
Even my boss, Pei Zhihao, treated me well.
But I never expected he would suddenly decide to fire me!
The reason was Li Yimeng's return!
She was Pei Zhihao's fiancée, just back from the United States.
Her qualifications surpassed mine, her experience was richer, and she had designed a Financial System that greatly contributed to the company.
So Pei Zhihao decided to let me go and have Li Yimeng take my place!
This news was shocking.
When Pei Zhihao brought Li Yimeng into the finance office, I was still in a daze.
"Yu Wan, starting today, you no longer need to work at Haoran Technology."
Pei Zhihao waved his hand at me with an impatient expression.
I froze for a moment, my face turning slightly pale. "Why?"
Pei Zhihao rolled his eyes at me. "Just look at what you've done."
Li Yimeng had worked in the United States for so many years that upon returning, she was able to design a complete Financial System for the company.
"Look at you," she continued, "you've been with the company for six years and you still haven't even familiarized yourself with the Financial System!"
"With your attitude towards work, how can you still have the face to stay in this company?"
"Pack your things and leave today!"
I trembled with anger. "I've dedicated six years to this company. Even if I haven't achieved much, I've put in my effort! What gives you the right to just fire me?"
"Your performance is decent," Li Yimeng replied with a smile.
"But good performance doesn't necessarily mean strong work capability."
"You've been here for six years and still aren't familiar with the Financial System, relying instead on an outdated Excel spreadsheet that a sixth grader could use."
"What era are we in? Using old spreadsheets like that? That's not how you slack off!"
She smiled sweetly, but her tone was laced with disdain.
I gritted my teeth in frustration. "Li Yimeng!"
Li Yimeng reined in her smile and said coldly, "The finance department is the core of the company. We absolutely cannot allow someone who lacks ambition to waste their time here!"
Pei Zhihao nodded in agreement. "That's right! Yu Wan, you've been taking a salary from the company for years without contributing anything. You should be grateful!"
I couldn't help but sneer internally.
Who said I was using an outdated form?
That was my own innovative financial plugin!
I may not have delved into the company's Financial System, but I developed a more comprehensive Financial System on my own.
Otherwise, how could I consistently achieve the best performance?
I just never expected that my abilities would be seen as mere idleness in their eyes!
Pei Zhihao looked at me coldly. "Yu Wan, considering our past acquaintance, I've already given you double the salary. Pack your things and leave today!"
I bit my lip. "President Pei, could you give me a chance to explain?"
Pei Zhihao frowned in disgust. "What more explanation do you want?"
"I've seen the garbage reports you've made! Your contribution to the company is even less than that of a fresh graduate!"
Li Yimeng chimed in sarcastically from the side, "Yu Wan, you're already in your twenties, how can you still act like a child and argue like this?"
"Not admitting that the reports are poorly done? No wonder President Pei is going to fire you."
I trembled with anger. "I'm not arguing! The reports are fine!"
Pei Zhihao, however, was too disinterested to listen to my defense. He grabbed Li Yimeng and turned to leave.
Watching their retreating figures, I clenched my fists in frustration.
Damn it!
What is wrong with Pei Zhihao?
He never treated me this way before!
Is it because I confessed my feelings to him?
Does he no longer want to keep things ambiguous between us?
