On August 16, 2001, at exactly 9 PM, Wu Jun returned to the company dormitory as usual. He had just finished showering and was about to call that woman when the doorbell rang.
"Who is it?" Wu Jun asked casually.
"It's me," came the familiar voice of Liu Ya from outside.
Wu Jun opened the door and saw Liu Ya standing there with a package in her hands.
"What are you doing here so late?" Wu Jun asked, somewhat surprised.
"The company sent over some urgent documents," Liu Ya replied as she stepped inside.
Just then, five burly men suddenly burst out from the stairwell, shoving Liu Ya aside and lunging directly at Wu Jun.

"Just teaching you a lesson, you bastard!" one of the men said coldly.
What followed was a brutal beating. The five took turns attacking him with fists, kicks, hammers, and wrenches—anything they could find. Wu Jun's screams echoed through the room as blood quickly soaked into the floor.
Liu Ya stood by, watching coldly. At first, she felt a twinge of compassion, but as thoughts of Wu Jun's betrayal crossed her mind, that sympathy faded away.
Three hours later, the five assailants left triumphantly. Wu Jun lay in a pool of blood, barely conscious.
Only then did Liu Ya "panic" and rush to the bathroom, putting on an act of being a victim.
