This is the man called Jinan. Zhang Wenwen felt that he looked quite strange, especially the way he gazed at her.
“Zhang Wenwen, I’m so glad to see you’re okay.” Jinan had a strong, resolute face; even when he smiled, there was an air of authority about him. Zhang Wenwen glanced at Zhu Boyun beside her before sitting down in the chair Jinan had pulled out.
“I just returned from abroad and heard about your accident, Amnesia.”
Zhang Wenwen nodded. “It seems we knew each other before.” It certainly appeared that way, and the concern in this man’s eyes was genuine—an unusual worry that transcended friendship, which was what she found so peculiar.
Jinan revealed a warm smile, one that concealed evident emotions. “You are the woman I have my eye on.”
Zhang Wenwen inhaled sharply, instinctively looking towards Zhu Boyun beside her. He smiled gently and took her hand. “Jinan, she is already my wife now.”
Jinan looked at their clasped hands. “Even though I’ve been abroad during this time, I’m still very aware of Zhang Wenwen’s situation. Are you sure that marriage certificate was obtained from the civil affairs bureau?” His words carried a hint of provocation.
Zhang Wenwen withdrew her hand and crossed her arms, observing the two nearly equally impressive men. “You both better not say things I don’t understand.”
“Darling, no matter what happens, just believe that we are on the same side,” Zhu Boyun arrogantly hooked his arm around her neck and leaned in to kiss her, only to be met with the cold metal of a spoon that Jinan had swiftly extended.
Zhu Boyun narrowed his eyes, his long fingers dismissively flicking the spoon away. “Intimate matters between husband and wife are none of your business.”
Jinan was infuriated and turned to Zhang Wenwen. “Be careful of this guy; you two were like fire and water before. Suddenly getting married must have been premeditated.”
To be honest, Zhang Wenwen believed Jinan’s words; she indeed had doubts about this marriage. However, she trusted the man beside her—a strange contrast where she felt both suspicion and belief towards him.
However, one thing is certain—
She smiled at Jinan and said, "He won't hurt me."
Zhu Boyun was taken aback, never expecting to hear such words. His heart raced with excitement and warmth as he tightly grasped her small hand. "No matter what motives brought us together in this marriage, I have always respected it."
It turned out that his respect was meaningless, for that marriage certificate was forged, and the person who exposed this truth was Liang Xiaoyan.
"Sister Zhang Wenwen, I only dared to tell you now that Jinan Ge has returned. Actually, you and Jinan Ge are a couple. Brother Zhu is only getting close to you for that piece of land," Liang Xiaoyan revealed.
Zhang Wenwen felt a bit dazed. What were the relationships between Zhu Boyun, Jinan, Liang Xiaoyan, and herself?
Suddenly, she felt she could trust no one, which led her to hide away.
She had nowhere to go except Zhu Boyun's home; she didn't even know where her original home was and could only wander the streets. The cold wind blew through her, chilling her to the bone. She pulled her clothes tighter around her body for warmth, but it did nothing to warm her heart.
Deep down, a voice urged her to believe in Zhu Boyun because she liked him and needed to have faith in him. Yet Liang Xiaoyan's words forced her to reconsider.
