At 3:15 AM, footsteps echoed from the second floor.
Song Ming was startled awake by the noise outside his window. He quietly got up, wanting to see what was happening. Just as he reached the window, Cheng Liang had already pried it open, and the two found themselves face to face.
"Who are you?" Song Ming shouted.
Without a word, Cheng Liang raised a dagger and lunged at him.
Song Ming reacted quickly, grabbing Cheng Liang's wrist, and the two began to struggle. Huang Ligang stood by the window in shock, watching the two men roll and fight in the room.
Being physically strong, Song Ming soon gained the upper hand, knocking Cheng Liang's dagger to the ground.
"Help me!" Cheng Liang gasped.
Huang Ligang finally snapped out of it and hurriedly climbed through the window. He picked up the dagger from the floor, but his hands trembled, unsure of what to do.
"Kill him! Kill him now!" Cheng Liang shouted desperately as Song Ming pinned him down.
With gritted teeth, Huang Ligang raised the dagger and plunged it into Song Ming's neck.
"Ah!" Song Ming screamed, blood gushing out instantly. He clutched his neck, eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at Huang Ligang.
Huang Ligang looked at the bloody dagger in his hand, completely stunned.
"He's dead... really dead..." he muttered to himself.
At that moment, a woman's scream came from the next room.
Song Ming's wife, Lin Ya, was awakened by her husband's cries. Realizing something was wrong, she screamed for help: "Help! Help! Someone is being killed!"
Things began to spiral out of control.
"What do we do? She'll call the police!" Huang Ligang panicked.
Cheng Liang got up from the floor, a glint of malice in his eyes. "What are you asking for? Kill her! Leave no one behind!"
Huang Ligang had initially thought they would just rob some money and leave, never expecting it to escalate like this. But now that they had already killed one person, killing another didn't seem like much of a difference anymore.
The two rushed into the adjacent room, where Lin Ya was desperately screaming. Cheng Liang approached and swiftly silenced her with a knife.
"Now no one can call the police," Cheng Liang said with a cold smirk. "Let's quickly find what we need and get out of here."
Just then, a child's cry echoed from downstairs. It turned out that a four-year-old girl had been awakened by the commotion above. She didn’t understand what was happening but instinctively felt fear. Climbing out of her small bed, she sought her parents.
As the little girl stumbled up the stairs, she was met with the horrifying sight of blood everywhere and her parents lying in a pool of it. Terrified, she screamed and turned to flee back downstairs.
"There's a kid!" Huang Ligang pointed at the staircase.
Cheng Liang wasted no time: "Chase her! We can't let her get away!"
"You can't escape, little one!" Huang Ligang sneered as he pursued her.
The girl, dressed in a crimson dress and barefoot, stumbled down the stairs, crying and calling out, "Mommy! Mommy!" But at just four years old, how could she outrun a nineteen-year-old?
At the corner of the staircase, Huang Ligang caught up to her. The girl looked back at him, her eyes filled with fear and helplessness.
"Uncle won't hurt you," Huang Ligang crouched down, wearing an eerie smile. "Be good, don’t be afraid."
The little girl seemed to believe him and stopped crying.
In the next moment, a sharp dagger pierced through…
The girl widened her eyes in confusion, unable to comprehend why this uncle would want to hurt her. She tried to speak but could only emit faint whimpers.
Huang Ligang watched as the girl slowly collapsed, his eyes devoid of any remorse; instead, they gleamed with a twisted satisfaction. At nineteen years old, Huang Ligang had completely crossed the final line of humanity.
Cheng Liang descended from upstairs and paused at the scene: "Bro, you... you even killed a child?"
"If you're going to do it, you have to go all the way," Huang Ligang replied calmly. "Now that there are no witnesses left, we can safely take what we want and leave."
