Li Shan waved his hand decisively and said, "Don't worry, I will cooperate fully with you. We must not let Ma Yuqiang succeed."
That evening, as soon as Ma Yuqiang got home, he eagerly asked me about the interest-free loan situation. I sighed and explained that because the company policy had not been released when we bought the house, we did not meet the application criteria.
Ma Yuqiang grew anxious. "Why is your company so stubborn? It’s only a matter of a few days. How about this: let my mom come over tomorrow and accompany you to the company to stir things up."
I told him that larger companies are more afraid of disturbances, and if he caused a scene, they might just agree. Besides, with his wife being heavily pregnant, they would surely be concerned about potential issues and would likely comply.
Looking at Ma Yuqiang's sleazy demeanor made me feel nauseous; I truly regretted ever being attracted to him. I shook my head and said it was impossible because I still had to go back to work, and that would be too embarrassing.
To my surprise, Ma Yuqiang encouraged me not to worry about losing face, insisting that nothing was more important than money. I took a deep breath and casually remarked, "The interest is just pocket change; if we're talking about making money, real estate is where it's at. Unfortunately, we don’t have the capital to play around."
Xiao Ran's interest was piqued by my words; he immediately perked up, his eyes shining with curiosity. "What do you mean by that?"
Feigning a gossiping tone, I lowered my voice and said, "Li Shan's brother is in urgent need of cash and plans to sell his house at a price much lower than the market rate."
"Ah, what a pity we don't have any money; otherwise, we could buy it and make a quick profit of several hundred thousand," Xiao Ran lamented.
Ma Yuqiang immediately pressed on with questions: "What house? In what area?"
I pretended to be uninterested and waved my hand dismissively. "Forget it; even if I told you, you wouldn't be able to afford it."
"Come on, just tell me!"
"The house is located in Central, a new development, Mingzhu Community, over one hundred seventy square meters, and the market price is more than thirteen million."
Upon hearing the price, Ma Yuqiang was clearly taken aback and hesitantly asked, "How much does he plan to sell it for?"
"I heard it's only nine million."
"What? That's so cheap! There can't be any issues with the house, right?"
Ma Yuqiang's voice suddenly rose, his eyes shining with excitement.
I shot him a glare and patted my stomach. "What are you shouting for? You scared me."
"What problems could there be? His brother is a developer; this house was reserved."
"I heard from Li Shan that even selling it for nine million wouldn’t be a loss, just a bit less profit."
Ma Yuqiang fell silent for a moment, then cautiously asked, "Honey, since you’re so close with Li Shan, can you negotiate a better price?"
I let out a cold laugh. "Even if Li Shan gives us another fifty thousand off, that would already be a huge favor."
"Ma Yuqiang, where do you think we can get this eight hundred thousand?"
As I said this, I stole a glance at Ma Yuqiang. He was frowning deeply, clearly calculating something.
I sighed. "Stop thinking about it; we’re not destined to make this kind of money. What a pity; we could flip it for several million."
Ma Yuqiang clenched his fists tightly. "Honey, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Let’s find a way to get this house!"
I pretended to be impatient and pushed him away. "Are you crazy? That’s so much money; how could we possibly come up with it?"
"Why don't we sell our current house?" Ma Yuqiang said through gritted teeth.
"Ma Yuqiang, I think you've lost your mind. I shouldn't have told you," I replied.
"Don't forget that our house hasn't been owned for two years, so we can't sell it. Even if we could, how long do you think it would take to sell?"
"Li Shan's brother is in urgent need of money; can he wait?"
"Besides, with our savings, after paying off the mortgage, we'd only have a little over a hundred thousand left, which is far from the eight hundred thousand needed for the down payment."
After hearing this, Ma Yuqiang's frown deepened.
Seeing his troubled expression, I felt a sense of satisfaction and returned to my room.
