Xiao Ran's parents still wanted to coax me into transferring the house directly to them. I cried and protested, refusing to agree to the divorce. Ma Yuqiang, seeing that I had just calmed down and was now causing a scene again, lost his temper and scolded his parents on the spot, forcing them to sign the papers to transfer the house to me.
As soon as the divorce paperwork was completed, I made an excuse about having something to attend to and hurried back to my family home to rest. Ma Yuqiang was more than happy to see me go and cheerfully sent me off. Then he excitedly took the divorce agreement to the real estate company, intending to change the contract. However, the company informed him that he had missed the payment deadline, and the house had already been sold to someone else.
Panicking, Ma Yuqiang immediately called me. I leisurely reassured him that I would ask Li Shan for help. After saying that, I hung up and turned off my phone.
What happened next was told to me by Li Shan: Ma Yuqiang couldn't find me and went crazy at her brother's company, causing a scene. Her brother didn't hold back and called the police, resulting in Ma Yuqiang being taken in for a few days. When he got out, he was much more subdued, humbly begging Li Shan for help in getting a refund from the real estate company. But they informed him that due to his breach of contract, he would have to pay a penalty of two hundred thousand.
Ma Yuqiang was heartbroken over it, but in order to retrieve the remaining one hundred eighty thousand, he signed the papers. Then he immediately headed to my family home. My brother had already arranged for someone to wait for him at the station. Those friends knew how to handle things; Ma Yuqiang wasn't seriously hurt but did get beaten up pretty badly. Even if he was slow on the uptake, he understood that I had orchestrated this from behind the scenes.
He stood at my doorstep shouting that he wanted to talk. Eventually, I let him inside. Looking at his disheveled appearance brought me an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
"Why are you doing this?" Ma Yuqiang questioned me.
I scoffed, too tired to beat around the bush, and directly threw out the photos of his affair.
Ma Yuqiang's face turned pale instantly. He fell to his knees, begging for forgiveness, claiming that he didn't love that woman and only loved me.
Suppressing my disgust, I asked him why he cheated if he didn't love her. He stammered that it was for money; that woman was wealthy and could provide for him. He even said that he did it to ensure a better life for our little family.
His words once again shattered my understanding of him and my values. I told him that if he still had feelings for me and our unborn child, he should move out as soon as possible. I intended to rent out the house and use the rent to pay off the mortgage.
Seeing that I was determined to separate, Ma Yuqiang's expression changed immediately, and he said viciously, "The house was bought together; you owe me half. Otherwise, I won't back down."
Before he could finish speaking, my brother burst out of the room and kicked him in the back. "You bully my sister; I'll kill you."
Ma Yuqiang shouted back about how killing someone meant paying with your life. My brother slapped him twice hard and coldly replied, "I won't kill you; I'll just cripple you so you'll spend your life in bed. Worst case, I'll serve a few years in prison—my parents will have my sister to take care of them."
Ma Yuqiang trembled, deflated; he had always been someone who bullied the weak but feared the strong. Facing a tough guy like my brother left him helpless.
Ma Yuqiang stood up and pointed at me, threateningly saying, "Alright, Xiao Ran, you're ruthless; just wait!"
Before he could lower his hand, my brother kicked him again. "Can't understand human language? Don't bully my sister, got it? If you dare come again, I'll make sure to hit you every time!"
Ma Yuqiang ran away in fright. If things had ended there, perhaps I wouldn't have had such a falling out with him. After all, he is the father of the child in my womb.
