Looking at his disgusting face and thinking about how he had just been with Tian Miaomiao made my stomach churn.
As he was about to touch me, I grabbed the ashtray and smashed it onto the coffee table. The ashtray shattered, and my hand was covered in blood. Tian Miaomiao screamed in fright. Ye Zheng clearly hadn’t expected this; his eyes were filled with both anger and fear.
“Ye Zheng, you either wait until the engagement or we both end up in the hospital or the police station.” I sat up, my tone chillingly calm. I didn’t know why I was stalling, but I figured that if I could delay for a day, I would.

As the nurse cleaned my wounds, pain made me tremble all over. Yet, I held back my tears. All my tears had probably dried up the day my parents passed away.
“If it hurts, just cry it out; don’t hold it in.”
With that familiar voice, I fell into a warm and broad embrace. The faint scent of antiseptic mixed with tobacco lingered around me. Besides that, there was only a clean and refreshing aroma. It felt familiar and reassuring. Without looking up, I already knew it was him.
Tears continued to flow uncontrollably.
He gently covered my eyes with his long fingers.
"Just hang in there, it will be over soon."
My tears soaked his palm.
After tending to my wound, he took me back to his home.
On the way, I mentioned wanting to go back, but he firmly disagreed.
With my hand injured, he helped me wash up.
Although we had been very close before, it felt a bit awkward now.
"I can wash myself slowly..."
"The wound will get infected if it gets wet, just listen to me."
He wrapped me in a bath towel and carried me to the bedroom.
"I'll be right next door; call me if you need anything."
He touched my forehead and got up to leave.

He looked at me for a while before agreeing.

When he came back after showering, he smelled wonderful.
I couldn't help but burrow into his embrace, wrapping my arms and legs around him.
He carefully avoided my injury while holding back his own feelings.

I ignored him and nuzzled against his chest.
"Li Yunfan, do you remember what happened in college?"
"I remember some things."
"Do you remember that girl in the library who watched you for two hours and then fell asleep..."
"Mm."
"Is it embarrassing?"
"No."
"Have you ever liked someone?"
"...I have."
A pang of sadness hit me.
"She must be very beautiful and outstanding."
"Just an ordinary pretty girl."
He gently stroked my hair, and the mention of his crush made him so tender that it hurt my heart.
"Li Yunfan... can we not talk about her tonight?"
"...Okay, what do you want to talk about?"
"Do you have any other women?"
"No."
He held my chin and kissed me.

He cut me off with another kiss.
Naturally, he didn't answer my question.
I noticed he liked to kiss my eyes, especially my eyelids.
