Just when I was at a loss, I saw Xiao Chen walk over to the body. 0

He glanced at the corpse sitting on the bench and then put on the gloves I had given him. With my consent, he emptied everything from the deceased's bag, and there was quite a lot! Lip balm, a mirror, cosmetics—everything you could think of. Xiao Chen even rummaged through the deceased's wallet, which had been emptied of cash. 0

The phone was sent by Xiao Zhang for forensic analysis, but strangely, there were no fingerprints on it. It seemed the killer had wiped it clean. 0

Finally, he held up a bottle of green tea that he had just taken from the deceased's bag and examined it closely. It was an ordinary bottle of green tea that could be found in any supermarket or convenience store, and it was half empty. 0

"Any findings?" I asked him. He shook his head and then pulled out a small piece of paper from the deceased's wallet. 0

It was a receipt from a convenience store, indicating that the deceased had purchased two bottles of green tea at 8:45 PM yesterday. 0

"Go to this convenience store and confirm if the deceased was there," I instructed Xiao Zhang, who quickly left the scene with a few colleagues. 0

"They bought two bottles of green tea, but we only found one. What's going on?" I wondered aloud. 0

Xiao Chen didn’t respond, but his expression seemed to suggest he already had an answer. Don’t think he was trying to act cool; it wasn’t like that at all. This guy didn’t want to be like this either—he suffered from something called "low-risk depression," which made him withdrawn. Living in pain made it normal for him to ignore others. 0

Hearing this, I stubbed out my cigarette and teased, "Aren't you cops supposed to use your brains to deduce things? Since your friend is so self-important, why not rely on yourself? Aren't you clever too?" 0

Zhu Xu burst into laughter and said, "Don’t change the subject! Who said I wasn’t deducing things myself? Just let me finish." 0

I walked around the scene a few times and then pulled Xiao Chen aside. "Don’t you think something is missing here?" Xiao Chen looked at me blankly and shook his head. At that moment, I felt a surge of joy; finally, I had a chance to outsmart this oddball. How could I not be happy? For so long, I had felt overshadowed by him; in his presence, I felt like an idiot—not at all like a police officer. This time, I could finally hold my head high. 0

"I know who the murderer is!" I exclaimed loudly. Xiao Chen and Xiao Zhang turned to look at me simultaneously, their faces filled with disbelief. "Boss, do you really know who the murderer is?" 0

"Yes, I do." 0

"Who is it? Who is it?" Xiao Zhang asked eagerly, while Xiao Chen looked at me with suspicion. I pretended to walk over to the body and explained, "The time of death was between ten-thirty and twelve last night. This means that when the murder occurred, it was raining, and it was a heavy rain, right? Xiao Zhang?" Xiao Zhang quickly nodded in agreement. 0

"Alright then, since it was raining so heavily, the victim definitely wouldn't have come to this Stone Pavilion without an umbrella, right? Look, there are no signs that her hairstyle was disturbed by the rain, which means she must have had an umbrella when she arrived here!" I announced loudly. 0

"So what?" Xiao Chen replied coldly. 0

That's just how he is—always wearing a sour expression as if the whole world owes him a million dollars. "Here's the problem!" I mimicked his tone, "Why did the murderer take the umbrella? An umbrella isn't worth much; the murderer must have had a reason for taking it. It's quite simple: the murderer didn't have an umbrella! So after committing the crime, since the rain didn't stop, he took the victim's umbrella." 0

Xiao Zhang stared at me with wide eyes, filled with admiration. 0

"Now, why did the murderer take the victim's umbrella? Because he didn't bring one himself. Why didn't he bring one? The reason is simple: he came here sharing the same umbrella with the victim!" I continued. "What kind of person would share an umbrella at such a late hour? My answer is—couples! Xiao Zhang, go check if the victim had a boyfriend or any male friends." 0

"Why can't it be a female friend?" Xiao Zhang asked. 0

"It can't be a woman. Based on the degree of indentation on the back of the victim's head, the strength of the murderer could not possibly belong to a woman," I said confidently. 0

"Wow, Boss! I think you're incredibly impressive today!" Xiao Zhang admired. 0

Just as I was about to bask in my glory, Xiao Chen sneered, "Oh, not bad at all, Mr. Holmes." 0

"What do you mean? Do you think my reasoning has flaws?" I knew he must be jealous of me; this time, I had solved the case faster than he did, and it must have left a bitter taste in his mouth. 0

To my surprise, Xiao Chen completely ignored me and walked over to the corpse. 0

Ignoring me was one thing, but what he did next was something I couldn't tolerate. Do you know what he was doing? I bet you wouldn't even guess—he was actually undressing the deceased. I immediately stopped him and said, "What are you thinking about the body? After knowing you for so long, I never realized you were a necrophiliac!" 0
