"We assume she bought it for Huang Kai, which is strange. Both bottles are green tea; if it were another bottle of cola or juice, it would be understandable. After all, don't couples usually share a drink? Moreover, according to the investigation, neither Huang Kai nor Jia Jieru has any cleanliness obsession. Therefore, I believe this bottle of green tea was not bought for Huang Kai. 0

This means that the person Jia Jieru met that day was not Huang Kai, thus eliminating his suspicion. 0

"Now we have two remaining suspects. Let's consider why the victim went to the convenience store to buy drinks. The current situation indicates that the victim died indoors, which suggests she was likely visiting someone’s home. If it were you, would you bring your own drinks when visiting? My answer is no. Under what circumstances would someone buy drinks, especially two bottles? If the victim initially did not know she was going indoors, that would explain it. 0

"She bought a bottle of green tea for the murderer and one for herself, thinking she would go to an outdoor location, only to find it was not as she expected. Initially, she was indeed going outdoors, but later she went indoors. Why did this change happen? 0

"There are two possibilities for why the plan changed. First, the victim changed her plan. Second, the murderer changed their plan. 0

"First, let's consider the first point; this is impossible. Why? Because if the victim had changed her plan, she wouldn’t have needed to buy any drinks at all. This indicates that it was the murderer who altered the original plan. But why would the murderer change their plan? Was it a sudden urge to kill? If so, wouldn’t it be better to act outdoors? That way, there would be no need to move the body. So that's not possible. It must be that something important came up suddenly that required immediate resolution indoors, and the victim had to accompany them. 0

"If we substitute our two suspects into this scenario, it becomes clear who the murderer is. First, let’s consider Ding Tao. The victim went out with someone who had previously rejected her and even bought him a bottle of green tea. Then they had to go indoors together to resolve some issue, and she took off her coat in front of him—if all this holds true, it suggests that the victim had accepted Ding Tao; so why would he kill her? He would be too happy for that! Thus, this hypothesis does not hold. 0

"What about Jin Xiang? The manager and his subordinate went out to discuss work matters; the meticulous victim bought him a bottle of green tea. Just as they were meeting up, something urgent happened at the company that required the manager's immediate attention, and as his assistant, the victim had no choice but to accompany him. After resolving things back at the company, the victim said something that angered Jin Xiang and triggered his murderous intent. Since there was heating in the office, it also explains why she took off her coat. This hypothesis is plausible." 0

Xiao Chen finished speaking and let out a long breath. 0

"So you're saying the murderer is her boss—Jin Xiang?" I asked. Xiao Chen stood up and turned back to me: "I’ve merely narrowed down the suspect to one person; it's up to you police officers to prove he’s the murderer." With that, he walked away without looking back. He was just that kind of rude person; no one knew what was going on in his mind. 0

By the time Zhu Xu finished speaking, our food had already cooled down and we had polished off all five bottles of beer we had just ordered. 0

"So did Jin Xiang confess later?" 0

"Is he really the murderer?" I asked anxiously. Zhu Xu's gaze was a bit unfocused, indicating he was somewhat drunk. "Of course we caught him. This guy was pretty honest; we got everything out of him in one interrogation. Heh, you should have seen that old fool's face when you weren't around—it was hilarious!" 0

"But your friend still hasn't answered why Jin Xiang wiped the fingerprints off his phone. And why did he try to frame Huang Kai?" 0

"Actually, Huang Kai's number and messages might not have been deleted by the murderer. Have you forgotten that just a couple of days ago, when the victim broke up with Huang Kai, she deleted all his contact information? Ah, these young people nowadays!" 0

"But why were there no fingerprints on the phone?" 0

"Because people often put a clear silicone case on their phones to protect them, right? The victim's phone case was later found in her handbag; it probably came off during the attack," Zhu Xu shrugged helplessly. 0

Sometimes, the truth is that simple, but unfortunately, we complicate things too much. 0

For some reason, after hearing Zhu Xu's story, I suddenly recalled a quote from Japanese mystery novelist Nishizawa Yasuhiro: "Whether the case is solved is not important; what matters is whether the logic is beautiful." I now had a new understanding of that statement. I decided to record Zhu Xu's story in novel form as a beautiful memory. 0
