"What?!" He Xiaozhu nearly jumped up. "I don't have a spare fuse at home!" 0

"What?!" This time, Fu Qingyu jumped up. "How can I change it without a spare fuse? If I don't fix this, how am I supposed to explain it to my mom?" Helping had turned into a hassle; the queen of the household would definitely take it out on him. 0

Fu Qingyu ran his fingers through his hair and sighed, "Forget it, I'll just drive to buy a new one." 0

He stood up but found himself unable to move his feet. He thought something was snagging his clothes, and when he looked down, he realized that He Xiaozhu was gripping his sleeve tightly. 0

"He Xiaozhu, let go! I need to go buy a new fuse, or else we won't have power all night." Fu Qingyu rubbed his temples in frustration. Damn it, he remembered now—this girl had been afraid of the dark since she was little; there was no way she could stay alone in the dark for more than five minutes. 0

"If you're scared, just come with me," Fu Qingyu suggested as a compromise, but He Xiaozhu shook her head firmly. 0

She glanced at her outfit and resolutely replied, "Great-Grandmother said that this casual attire is not suitable for going out." 0

Going out? It sounded like she was being forced into some kind of scandalous situation. Fu Qingyu nearly wanted to strangle this little stickler. "You can just stay in the car and not get out to see anyone. Is that okay?" 0

He Xiaozhu still shook her head, tightening her grip on his sleeve even more. "If you keep holding onto my clothes like this, you won't be able to wear them anymore." Fu Qingyu looked at the deformed cuff and felt a lump rise in his throat. He Xiaozhu remained stubbornly unyielding. 0

In desperation, Fu Qingyu had no choice but to pull out his phone and call his unfortunate assistant late at night. 0

"Ah Ken, it's me. Go to the convenience store near your house and buy—no, buy ten fuses, then bring them to my old house. What? I know it takes forty minutes to drive from your place to here. Can I wait for you? Stop whining and move quickly!" 0

Fu Qingyu roared as he hung up the phone, suddenly feeling the eerie silence around him. He turned his head and found He Xiaozhu had unknowingly released his sleeve, now cowering in a corner, looking at him timidly. 0

Moonlight streamed through the window, casting a hazy glow over her dark pupils. The glimmering tears in her eyes complemented her long eyelashes, giving her an unexpectedly pitiful appearance. 0

Fu Qingyu sighed softly, "I know you're afraid of the dark; you've been like this since you were little... Don't make that face. Am I not staying here?" 0

He Xiaozhu bit her lip and nodded slightly, but her eyes remained fixed on him without blinking. 0

Feeling a bit awkward, Fu Qingyu turned his head away and cleared his throat, asking gently as if coaxing a child, "It's dirty sitting on the floor. Let's go sit on the sofa and wait for Ah Ken to come, okay?" 0

He Xiaozhu nodded and leaned against the wall to stand up but couldn't move her feet. Fu Qingyu noticed something was off and waved his hand in front of He Xiaozhu's eyes, only to find she showed no reaction at all. 0

"Do you have... night blindness?!" He finally understood why his mother kept sending her this calcium supplement and that vitamin. 0

He Xiaozhu lowered her head and replied softly, feeling along the wall with her hands. Seeing her timid demeanor softened Fu Qingyu's heart, and he couldn't help but gently grasp her hand. 0

"Come this way, follow me." He carefully guided her around the coffee table and small stools, leading her to sit on the sofa. 0

"Stay here quietly and don't move around. I'll open the window for some fresh air." He placed a small pillow in her arms and softly reminded her. 0

He Xiaozhu obediently nodded. 0
