I leisurely sat up and opened my phone. Sure enough, all our shared group chats had exploded. My Weibo had been synced to the local network, and many of my university classmates had seen it. They forwarded the long Weibo posts to our university group, the Xu Chi work group, and even the homeowners' group from the community where we used to live.
Aside from a few trolls, most people were criticizing Xu Chi.
“Wow, I’ve really seen it all. A man can stoop this low!”
“Using his wife’s car and living in his wife’s house, and he even wants her to give her brother a house for his wedding. This isn’t finding a husband; it’s finding an ancestor!”
“I know this guy. He drives a BMW and pretends it’s his car, but it actually belongs to his girlfriend. So disgusting.”
As I read these comments, I couldn't help but feel delighted. I had hardly revealed any personal information on Weibo, so even if someone recognized me, I was merely portrayed as a victim. With such a scandal, Xu Chi would definitely lose his job, and his reputation would be ruined.
I casually answered a persistent unknown call. As soon as I picked up, Xu Chi’s furious voice came through the line.
“Lu Xinran, what the hell do you think you’re doing?!”
He sounded frantic, as if he wanted to jump through the phone and strangle me.
I chuckled softly and replied, “Didn’t you see what I’m doing?”
“Lu Xinran, you’re too ruthless! The job I worked so hard to get has been ruined because of you! You’ll get what you deserve!”
Xu Chi shouted angrily, “Hurry up and delete your Weibo! Say it’s all nonsense!”
I let out a cold laugh.
"Take a look at yourself and your pathetic nature. Stop disgusting me, will you? Eating soft rice without fear of breaking your teeth."
"Lu Xinran, shut up! Delete your Weibo right now! Otherwise, I’ll sue you for defamation and have you thrown in jail!"
I couldn't help but laugh in anger. I had truly been blind before; now I realized this idiot was not only greedy but also mentally challenged.
"Xu Chi, I dare you to sue me. By the way, just so you know, there's only one day left until my deadline. If you don’t return my car, just wait and see."
"When the time comes," I scoffed, "let's see who ends up in jail."
With that, I hung up the phone.
It felt great! More people should know the true face of this fool; I was doing a great service to warn other women of his type!
Just after hanging up, my college classmate Tian Hui called. She must have heard about Xu Chi.
Sure enough, as soon as I answered, Tian Hui gleefully said, "Xinran, did you hear? Xu Chi got fired."
"Our manager was furious and said he couldn't even eat soft rice properly. He told him to go home and eat what his mother makes."
"It's a pity you weren't there; Xu Chi turned green with envy and knelt before the manager begging him. It was so satisfying to watch!"
I felt content. "The best is yet to come."
Xu Chi wouldn’t return my car; I still had a fierce battle ahead with this family.
After reading all the messages, I lay on my bed and scrolled through the Weibo comments. The top comments were all bashing Xu Chi.
This post had already garnered tens of thousands of comments, not just from locals but also many from out-of-towners.
Suddenly, I saw a comment: "I’m here for the drama! The scumbag has been advised to leave the company! I have pictures from the scene!"
There was a highly-rated comment that made me laugh out loud: "This time I stand with the male lead..." I clicked on the replies, and he responded to himself with "my grave," followed by a bunch of comments saying, "Can't hold back the knife, better bury him deep."
I slowly scrolled through the comments. Although there were a few trolls getting worked up, the onlookers had already silenced them with their own retorts. I sighed.
It wasn't that I wanted to escalate things this much, but good people get taken advantage of, and kind horses get ridden. Others had already stepped on my head, so I had no choice but to fight back.
When I woke up, it was already past ten. Finally, I had managed to get a good night's sleep these days. I glanced at the clock, waiting for Xu Chi to return the car so I could cut ties with him once and for all.
