On the night before my wedding, my mother knelt on the ground, pleading with me:

My brother tightened his grip on my wrist: “Su Miao, don’t be unreasonable.
We’re family; isn’t it better for Yuan Yuan to live well?”
Luo Ye knocked and entered, his expression inscrutable,
still wearing the suit meant for tomorrow’s wedding.
I could see the hesitation hidden in his brow,
but in the end, he just patted my head: “Su Miao, wait for me to come back.”
The three of them hurriedly left.
