Fortunately, Qin Lang asked, "What are you doing here?" 0
I looked at him pitifully and said, "I was driving without a license and got reported..." 0
Fearing he might change his mind, I quickly pulled him towards the police officer. 0
"This is my brother; he's my guarantor. Can I leave now?" 0
The officer's attitude changed immediately upon seeing Qin Lang. 0
"Oh, it's the young master Qin's sister. That's fine, but you mustn't drive without a license again." 0
I thanked him and turned to leave. 0
But then my collar was grabbed. 0
"I'll give you a ride home," he said. 0
There was no way out; after all, he was my guarantor. 0
I sat in a chair waiting for him, and half an hour later, he emerged from the chief's office with me quietly following behind. 0
Seeing how polite the chief was to him made me reminisce about the past. 0
I used to be an SSS-level mercenary, at the top of my game, 0
yet here I was making such a rookie mistake—tripped by a vine and stepping on a landmine... 0
Qin Lang stopped suddenly, and I bumped into his back, the faint scent of ambergris mixed with tobacco filling my nose. 0
He turned around and said, "No license to drive, and you don't even watch where you're walking?" 0
"It wasn't intentional," I mumbled softly. 0
Qin Lang looked down at me and asked, "You're Zhu Fan?" 0
I nodded, "Yes, I met you when I was little at my grandfather's house, so I remembered you. Thank you for helping me this time." 0
"Don't keep making Old Zhu worry," Qin Lang suddenly said. 0
I was taken aback; it seemed that Zhu Fan had already grown distant from Old Zhu—what could he possibly worry about? 0
By the time Qin Lang dropped me off at home, it was quite late. 0
As soon as I entered, I found his family of three sitting in the living room staring at me, the mother and daughter looking at me with glee. 0

I didn't want to deal with them and headed straight upstairs. 0
"Stop!" 0
I halted my steps. "What is it, Father?" 0
Before Nan Shan could speak, Zhu Wan chimed in, "Sister, where have you been so late? We were all worried about you!" 0
This green tea is really annoying. 0
"Mind your own business." 0
Lin Qingge said, "Fan Fan, Wan'er is just concerned about you. Why do you have to speak like that?" 0
I preferred playing with knives over palace intrigue. 0
"Don't cause trouble outside! You're bringing shame to the Nan Family!" Nan Shan started again. 0
"The police reported you for driving without a license." I glanced at Zhu Wan. 0
I got into character: "Father, I'm sorry for bringing shame to the Nan Family. I already know I was wrong; why does my sister still have to report me? We should all be harmonious as a family." I began to choke up. 0
Zhu Wan looked shocked. "Father, I..." 0
Nan Shan interrupted her, "Enough! This is a mess!" 0
There was no real report; it was just something I made up to give Zhu Wan a hard time. 0
Lin Qingge started to change the subject: "Fan Fan, who was it that brought you back just now? I thought I saw a man. It's late; you could have called a driver to pick you up. After all, you're still young, and it's not proper for boys and girls to be too close. It wouldn't reflect well on the Nan Family." 0
Nan Shan's gaze shifted back to me. "What’s going on?! Another man has appeared!" 0
"It was Qin Lang." 0
Upon hearing Qin Lang's name, Nan Shan's expression changed immediately: "The young master of the Qin Family? Why didn't you invite him in for a seat? Next time, remember to treat him to a meal!" 0

"Oh, he's busy." 0
The Qin Family is a prestigious lineage, unlike the Nan Family, which is known for its son-in-law status; the difference between the two is significant. Nan Shan must be eager to establish a connection with such a family. This mother-daughter duo is also keen on snagging a wealthy husband. 0

Seeing the murderous glare from them, I smirked and returned to my room. 0

The next day at school, Zhu Wan signed the contract in front of the entire class. That five million was her private savings, and after yesterday's incident, Nan Shan would not be giving her any money. Zhu Wan would rather spend her own money than miss out on the flattery of others. It turns out she enjoys being the center of attention. 0

As a form of retribution, let her experience what it feels like to be scorned... 0

With only a few days left until the college entrance examination, this test seemed to hold great importance in Zhu Fan's memories. Looking at the papers on the desk, the answers floated in my mind. I didn't know what Zhu Fan's dreams were, but I knew she wished to become better so that Nan Shan would notice her. 0
