Wang Yi shook his head, clenched his fists, and thought, "Wang Zhou, Zhao Shanyu, I will not let you off the hook."
The one who truly framed him was Wang Zhou, not Zhao Shanyu. He was the mastermind behind the entire affair, while Wang Zhou was merely a pawn he placed on the board. As for whether there were other pawns, that remained uncertain.
However, he knew one thing: Zhao Shanyu was the real winner in this situation. He had exposed Wang Zhou, and although he hadn't achieved the expected results, it had caused the relationship between Li Gang and Chu Yixuan to become tense again. With Wang Zhou in play, who knew if there were also Wang San or Li Si? These were all unstable factors. Moreover, since Li Gang and Chu Yixuan were already at odds, Wang Yi was certain that a confrontation between them was inevitable.
Upon returning to his room, before half an hour had passed, Niu Meng burst in excitedly, waving his fists and exclaiming, "Big Brother, I've already informed him. The battle is set for tomorrow at noon."
"That's good," Wang Yi replied with a smile, stretching lazily. "I'll take a good rest today and fight to my heart's content tomorrow."
"Haha, don't be too eager just yet. I have something very important to tell you," Niu Meng said mysteriously with a rare hint of suspense.
"What is it? I'm curious to hear," Wang Yi said, intrigued by Niu Meng's unusual demeanor. After all, Niu Meng was known for being straightforward.
"Zhao Shanyu has already spread the news about your acceptance of Wang Zhou's challenge throughout the Outer Sect and even set up a betting pool privately," Niu Meng said gleefully.
"Oh really? He's quite clever," Wang Yi replied with a smile instead of anger. "I heard that Zhao Shanyu is quite wealthy; let's make him bleed a little this time." Wang Yi wasn't surprised by the betting pool; after all, it was no secret that disciples at Kaiyang Sect often engaged in private gambling.
In the Outer Sect, there were three individuals capable of setting up betting pools: Li Gang, Zhao Shanyu, and Chu Yixuan. The former was the son of an elder and essentially a second-generation official. The other two belonged to wealthy families with countless Yuan Stones and elixirs; they were indeed rolling in wealth.
"Hehe, I've already bet one hundred Yuan Stones on your victory," Niu Meng laughed heartily. "When the time comes, that turtle Zhao Shanyu will have to pay me five thousand Yuan Stones!"
It's no wonder Niu Meng was so happy; in the Outer Sect, even an Elite Disciple earned only twenty Medium-Grade Origin Stones a month. Over a year without spending any Yuan Stones would barely accumulate to two hundred Yuan Stones; as for ordinary disciples, it was even less. So accumulating five thousand Yuan Stones would take ages.
"Five thousand Yuan Stones?" Wang Yi asked.
Niu Meng laughed loudly. "Wang Zhou's odds are ten to one against him winning while yours are fifty to one."
"Oh really? Is mine that much?" A smirk appeared on Wang Yi's face, revealing that many people did not believe he could defeat Wang Zhou.
"Hehe, isn't this a great opportunity for us to make money?" Niu Meng said with a grin. "Big Brother, how many Yuan Stones do you have? Just bet them all on yourself." His words were filled with confidence; he believed Wang Yi would definitely defeat Wang Zhou.
Niu Meng's trust moved Wang Yi deeply; having a brother like him made life worthwhile.
"Hehe, that's what I was thinking too. Let's make our dear Brother Zhao find a place to cry later," Wang Yi said with gleaming eyes. This was indeed a great opportunity for windfall profits; he was already contemplating how to acquire more Yuan Stones. He thought to himself: "Just wait; I will astonish all of you."
"Come on, take me to see," Wang Yi said excitedly. Since entering this place for some time now, he hadn't spent much of his monthly Yuan Stones, so he actually had slightly more than Niu Meng—around two hundred or so Yuan Stones.
"Alright, follow me," Niu Meng said.
Wang Yi and Niu Meng walked out of the room, crossed a narrow alley, and arrived in front of a regular wooden house. Pushing the door open, they were immediately greeted by a cacophony of sounds, buzzing and vibrating all around them; everywhere they looked, there were crowded figures.
"You, Wang Yi, really dare to accept Wang Zhou's challenge."
"Hmph, Brother Zhao has already set up the bet. Do you think there's any doubt about it?"
"Where does this Wang Yi get his confidence? Is it just to save face?"
"Haha, if it were me, I’d say Wang Yi must be feeling bold as a lion to challenge Brother Wang. Truly overestimating himself!"
"Haha, that's right! This time I've put all my savings on Brother Wang."
"Of course, that’s a must."
"Sigh, but the odds are a bit low."
"Haha, why not bet on Wang Yi to win?"
"I'd have to be crazy to bet on Wang Yi winning."
"I'll bet on Wang Yi, one hundred Medium-Grade Origin Stones."
Just as this person finished speaking, a loud voice rang out in the room, as if fate was playing a joke on him; he slapped the previous speaker hard across the face.
"One hundred Medium-Grade Origin Stones? Is this guy out of his mind?"
"Haha, this person must be crazy, and he's gone mad for money!"
"Exactly! Betting on Wang Yi? It's practically giving money to Brother Zhao!"
"I'll bet on Wang Yi, two hundred Medium-Grade Origin Stones."
"I'll bet on Wang Yi, eighty Medium-Grade Origin Stones."
"I'll bet on Wang Yi, five hundred Medium-Grade Origin Stones."
Amidst the mocking voices, more and more shouts of "Wang Yi" rang out, as if a loud slap had been delivered to Zhao Shanyu in front of hundreds of disciples.
"Have these people gone mad? They're actually betting on the Multiverse Stone."
"Are they from Yixuan Pavilion?"
"Is it Lin Chao and his group?"
The disciples closer to the Gambling Table recognized the identities of these people.
"No wonder, Yixuan Pavilion and Zhao Shanyu have never gotten along. They must know that Wang Yi is bound to lose this time, so they are putting up some resistance."
"Haha, isn't this Wang Yi, Brother Wang?" Lin Chao laughed upon seeing Wang Yi, "What brings you here, Junior Brother?"
"Oh my, it really is Wang Yi! How did he come here?"
"Shh, keep your voice down. Niu Meng is right next to him. If you don't want to lose a bone, it's better to keep quiet."
"Lin Shixiong, you really are a wealthy landlord. You didn't even furrow your brow when you tossed out hundreds of Yuan Stones. That's quite enviable for us juniors!" Wang Yi said with a laugh as he walked, "Aren't you afraid these Yuan Stones will go to waste?"
