"Hmph, Kaiyang Sect Xu Jian, please enlighten me." A disciple pushed off the ground and soared into the air, landing on the Dueling Platform.
"Brother Chu, is this how we compete?" Wang Yi asked.
"Wen Cang Sect guards the platform until we defeat all of them, and no one dares to come up, or until no one from Kaiyang Sect steps forward to challenge." Chu Yixuan explained.
As they spoke, a loud sound was heard from the platform, and Xu Jian was sent flying, blood spurting out.
"Good job, Yan Shixiong."
Disciples from Wen Cang Sect cheered excitedly, their eyes provocatively looking at Li Gang and others.
"Waste," Zhao Shanyu shouted angrily.
"I'll go." A disciple jumped up from the crowd, "I am Shi Qian, a disciple of Kaiyang Sect."
"It's Brother Shi; he will definitely defeat him this time," Lin Chao said.
Wang Yi recognized him too but did not expect that Shi Qian would actually step up.
True to his reputation as a Seventh Layer Martial Artist, Shi Qian knocked Yan Di off the platform with just two punches.
"Hmph, I didn't expect Kaiyang Sect to run out of people so quickly," Lin Haojian scoffed. "Who dares to go up?"
"I'll go." A tall and strong youth believed himself to be on par with Shi Qian and wanted to make a name for himself in Xiangzhou Prefecture, so he angrily leaped onto the Dueling Platform.
"Bastard, Brother Shi, knock this Bastard down," Niu Meng shouted, waving his fist in anger.
"Shi Qian is strong; he should be fine," Chu Yixuan said.
Sure enough, Shi Qian used a feint, sidestepping and delivering a punch to the person's waist. The latter fell off the stage like a kite with a broken string.
Disciples of the Kaiyang Sect shouted loudly, while the disciples of the Wen Cang Sect were no longer as excited.
"Elder Li, the Kaiyang Sect has produced quite a few talented disciples!" Elder Zhao asked.
"This time at the mountain ceremony, our Kaiyang Sect will definitely give it our all," Li Jianren replied with a smile.
At that moment, another disciple from the Wen Cang Sect was knocked off the stage by Shi Qian. The faces of Lu Cong and the others turned sour, but Wang Yi did not seem too surprised. After all, Shi Qian was a disciple guarding Purgatory Cave and possessed strength far beyond that of his peers.
"Hmph, does no one from our Wen Cang Sect dare to step up?" Lin Haojian said with a look of restrained anger.
"This person is not weak. Liu Lang, you go," Le Wu said, his eyes shining brightly as he spoke to the young man beside him.
"Yes, Senior Brother Le," Liu Lang replied.
"It seems they can't sit still any longer," Zhao Shanyu laughed.
"Liu Lang from Wen Cang Sect, please," Liu Lang leaped onto the stage and cupped his hands in greeting.
"Ha!"
Seeing that his opponent was an Eighth Layer disciple, Shi Qian did not dare to be careless. He gathered all his Vital Energy and Cui Gu to peak condition, shaking his body and shooting out like a crossbow bolt.
Liu Lang sneered dismissively; being an Eighth Layer disciple himself, he had no reason to fear him. With that thought, he spread his palm into an eagle claw shape and swung it forward with incredible speed, resembling a vicious eagle swooping down. Shi Qian was startled; this person practiced Eagle Claw Martial Arts. As the powerful wind from his palm descended with a thud, it struck Liu Lang's hand.
The force of the eagle claw suddenly halted. With a chuckle, Liu Lang shouted loudly as his left claw came crashing down from above.
"This person practices the Eagle Claw technique of Wen Cang Sect and is even one level higher than Shi Qian. It seems Shi Qian cannot win," Chu Yixuan remarked with a frown.
Wang Yi also realized the severity of the situation and couldn't help but worry for Shi Qian. However, he saw Shi Qian let out a sharp shout, acting quickly; with a stomp of his right foot, he used his left palm to strike Liu Lang's hand, propelling himself backward.
"Hehe, you're no match for me. It's better for you to roll away early," Liu Lang said smugly.
"Hmph, how could I, a disciple of Kaiyang Sect, be someone who fears for my life?" Shi Qian's eyes flashed as he flipped his hand, revealing the Chiyang Blade. Instantly, a piercing golden light shot out. Liu Lang felt the blinding glare and squinted his eyes. Shi Qian had already gathered his strength and shouted angrily as he swung the Chiyang Blade downwards with a force that seemed to split the earth towards Liu Lang.
"Hmph, just a trick," Liu Lang replied as he crouched down and suddenly leaped up two zhang high, lunging forward with claws as sharp as iron hooks aimed at Shi Qian.
Shi Qian was taken aback and swung his blade to block. He pressed down on the blade, producing a loud clang of metal. Suddenly, a loud shout rang in his ears as Liu Lang's body bent like a willow tree, both claws pressing down simultaneously. Shi Qian felt an overwhelming force pinning the Chiyang Blade in place. Wang Yi watched in shock, not expecting this person to be so bold.
Disciples from Wen Cang Sect and Kaiyang Sect all stared intently at the two on stage.
Shi Qian's body was pressed down by this immense force, causing his legs to bend slightly and his feet to tremble. Liu Lang was also drenched in sweat; he let out a fierce roar as all his Vital Energy surged from his Dantian through his arms towards Shi Qian. Shi Qian felt as if a mountain was crashing down on him; his body trembled under the immense pressure. Unable to withstand it any longer, he let out a muffled groan, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth as he was sent flying backward.
"Who else dares to fight?" Liu Lang took a moment to stabilize his chaotic Vital Energy and looked around at Shi Qian's pale face.
"Junior Brother Shi!" A figure leaped onto the stage and fed Shi Qian a pill. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine; Brother Hou, take care," Shi Qian replied upon seeing Hou Cheng.
"Don't worry," Hou Cheng assured him.
"Who are you? State your name!" Liu Lang said arrogantly, feeling victorious after winning one round.
"I am Hou Cheng, a disciple of Kaiyang Sect." Before Hou Cheng finished speaking, he let out an angry roar and shouted "Watch my fist!" As he leaped into the air like a carp breaking through water, he threw a punch that shattered the air. The powerful Fist Force surged forward with fierce wind straight towards Liu Lang's chest.
"Bastard! It's Brother Hou!" Niu Meng exclaimed excitedly.
"Yes, Hou Cheng is from the Law Enforcement Team; I believe he can defeat this person," Chu Yixuan remarked.
"Hmph, we cannot let the Wen Cang Sect steal our thunder this time. Otherwise, if word gets out, what face will the Kaiyang Sect have?" Zhao Shanyu exclaimed angrily. Now everyone stood in a line, their focus directed at the Wen Cang Sect.
"This is bad, that person is from the Kaiyang Sect's Law Enforcement Team?" Le Wu observed intently, realizing the danger. With Liu Lang's strength, he was likely no match for this person, as disciples of the Kaiyang Sect's Law Enforcement Team possessed strength far beyond their peers.
"Hmph, just a bunch of nobodies." Lin Haojian's expression was rather grim. Although he knew Liu Lang was not Hou Cheng's opponent, his tone did not relax.
At that moment, a loud bang erupted in the air like a bomb, deafening to the ears.
Wang Yi saw Hou Cheng bend his body slightly, his right hand reaching forward like a monkey trying to grab the moon, hooking down toward Liu Lang's chest. With a splat, his fingers hooked down a piece of yellow clothing stained with blood. Hou Cheng laughed heartily, his right foot suspended in mid-air as he kicked out three times in quick succession, each kick containing immense power.
Liu Lang was already injured and could not withstand it; blood spurted out as his body fell to the ground like a kite with its string cut.
Hou Cheng laughed and waved his sleeve, several drops of blood falling from his fingertips, carried away by the cold wind and staining the sky red.
"You..." Liu Lang glared with bloodshot eyes, letting out a muffled groan. A sweet taste filled his throat as he spat out another mouthful of blood.
The disciples of Wen Cang Sect looked at Hou Cheng's cold and triumphant gaze and then at the blood dripping from his fingertips. The brave among them couldn't help but shiver, too frightened to even breathe.
"Hmph, waste." Lin Haojian's expression darkened as he waved for someone to help Liu Lang down.
On the Training Platform, the three elders of Wen Cang Sect looked displeased at this scene. Elder Zhao awkwardly smiled and said, "The disciples of Kaiyang Sect truly have impressive skills!"
"Such competitions are bound to cause some injuries; why should Elder Zhao be concerned?" Li Jianren replied with a smile.
"Hmph, is there really no one left in Kaiyang Sect? Even the Law Enforcement Team's disciples have come out." A Yellow-Bearded Elder said discontentedly with a cold snort.
"Li Shidi," Elder Zhao admonished quietly.
On stage, Hou Cheng let the blood drip from his fingertips and calmly said, "Brothers and sisters of Wen Cang Sect, please enlighten me?"
"Alright, Bastard Egg, Brother Hou, well done." Niu Meng shouted, raising his fist, and the other disciples echoed his call, their spirits high.
"Who will go?" Lu Cong squinted slightly.
"Wang Dang," Lin Haojian said angrily, naming someone.
Before his words fell, a burly youth stepped out from behind him, strong and robust, with thick eyebrows.
Wang Dang responded and stepped onto the Dueling Platform, clasping his fists and saying, "Wen Cang Sect, Wang Dang."
"Please." Hou Cheng narrowed his eyes, instinctively sensing that this person was quite formidable in martial arts, so he focused his mind and did not dare to be careless.
Wang Dang waved his large hand, causing his yellow robe to flutter away, revealing solid muscles. The bulging veins on his arms moved like Giant Snakes in the cold wind, adding to his intimidating presence.
"Roar! Brother Wang, defeat him and teach him a lesson!" The disciples of Wen Cang Sect shouted in unison, their voices rising.
"Bastard Egg, I really want to compete with him and see who has more strength," Niu Meng said, licking his chapped lips that had dried in the cold wind.
"Hehe, bring it on." Wang Dang's laughter was as chilling as the cold air. With a stomp of his foot, he leaped into the air towards Hou Cheng with incredible speed; those of lower realms could only see a blur.
Hou Cheng was startled; he hadn't expected this person's movement to be so fast. He immediately felt a cold wind rush towards him and leaned to the left. A fist shadow grazed past his cheek, making him feel as if a knife had cut across it. He pushed off with his right foot and retreated three meters.
Wang Dang chuckled and said, "You've got some skills!"
"You’re not bad either," Hou Cheng replied.
"However, that's about it. Let's end this!" Wang Dang shook his head with a smile. His body swayed, leaving only an afterimage in the air as he appeared right in front of Hou Cheng.
Before he arrived, the punch's wind rushed at him, chilling to the bone.
Hou Cheng only felt a cold wind rush towards him. He steadied his left foot, using the force of the ground to leap two meters away, but a shadow had already arrived in front of him. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his waist, and his body was sent flying backward.
"Too fast," Li Gang said.
"Hou Cheng is not weak, but the opponent's speed is simply beyond his reaction," Chu Yixuan commented.
"Bastard! Damn it, I'm going!" Niu Meng cursed angrily.
"Niu Meng..." Wang Yi exclaimed in shock, but it was too late; in the next moment, Niu Meng was already on the stage.
"Brother Hou, you step down first; let me take him on," Niu Meng said to the visibly distressed Hou Cheng.
"Heart," Hou Cheng punched the stone slab, unable to swallow this anger. If it weren't for his inadequate movement skills, he wouldn't have lost to this person.
"Black Giant, state your name," Wang Dangsheng said after a match, having overheard the compliments from the disciples of Wen Cang Sect, feeling somewhat proud as he pointed at Niu Meng.
"Bastard! I am your grandfather, Niu Meng," Niu Meng shouted angrily.
