"In the Refining Flame Cave, if it weren't for Jin Shixiong, I would have been in grave danger. Thank you, Wang Yi," Wang Yi said sincerely.
"It's nothing. You saved me before," Jin Qinghan replied, sheathing the Remaining Cloud Sword. Her cold face felt like a chilling breeze under the sunlight as she said, "I'm leaving now." With that, she turned and walked away without looking back.
Wang Yi revealed a bitter smile, rubbed his nose, and gazed at Jin Qinghan's departing figure, remaining silent for a long time.
The wind blew through the forest, rustling his clothes and creating a soft sound as it bent the grass and stirred the leaves on the ground.
Wang Yi stepped out of the woods, pondering to himself, "I, Wang Yi, will definitely become an Inner Sect Disciple."
Three days later.
At the Martial Arts Plaza, all Outer Sect Disciples gathered together, each one spirited and eager, rubbing their fists in anticipation with expressions full of hope.
On the Training Platform sat three Outer Sect Elders: Li Jianren, Xiao Renyi, and Zhou Deyu. They wore serious expressions and did not smile or speak.
Li Jianren was dressed in a pristine white robe that was spotless. Despite having gray hair from age, he still appeared vigorous. He slowly stood up and scanned the disciples with bright eyes before speaking in a loud voice, "Disciples who have not broken through to the Earth Spirit Realm step forward."
As soon as he finished speaking, those disciples who had not yet reached the Earth Spirit Realm walked out of the crowd with dejected expressions.
"You have not broken through to the Earth Spirit Realm this time; do not lose heart. You must work hard. I hope that in three years' time, you can become Inner Sect Disciples," Li Jianren encouraged.
"Yes," the Transcendence Realm disciples replied in unison, their disappointment fading from their faces.
"I now announce that the advancement begins," Li Jianren said with a nod of approval. "The test is divided into three stages; we will now begin the first stage: strength testing."
Rumbling!
Suddenly, a stone tablet slowly rose from the hard stone slab in front of the Training Platform. The tablet was entirely white and clearly made of very hard stone. It stood about ten feet tall and was only about one meter wide; its weight was unknown.
"Now, you will take turns striking this stone tablet with all your strength. Those who reach nine thousand pounds may enter the second stage," Li Jianren said.
The strength test began.
Wang Yi knew that becoming an Earth Spirit Realm Martial Artist and aspiring to be an Inner Sect Disciple was not an easy task. One must pass three trials to advance, but the specifics of those three trials were unknown.
"Fail. Next," Zhou Deyu said, looking at the number on the stone tablet and waving his hand.
The disciple left with a dejected expression, having lost his qualification.
Wang Yi looked over and saw the number 8,565 displayed on the stone tablet, indicating this person's strength. According to common logic, in the Transcendence Realm, each advancement increases physical strength by one thousand pounds. Therefore, once one becomes an Earth Spirit Realm Martial Artist, their total strength should be at least nine thousand pounds. Not reaching this level indicated that while this person possessed the realm of Earth Spirit Realm, they lacked the strength of an Earth Spirit Realm Martial Artist, which was not permitted by Kaiyang Sect or Wen Cang Sect.
"Pass," Zhou Deyu said.
The disciple was overjoyed and immediately bowed respectfully to Zhou Deyu, saying, "Thank you, Elder."
The number on the stone tablet showed 9,100, clearly indicating that this disciple's realm matched his strength; he was indeed a genuine Earth Spirit Realm Martial Artist.
The other disciples looked at him with some envy. Once one became an Inner Sect Disciple, resources like elixirs and Yuan Stones would increase exponentially, relieving them of worries about such external matters in the future.
The strength test continued, with some experiencing great joy or sorrow, while others felt dejected or motivated.
"Bastard! Finally my turn!" Niu Meng exclaimed excitedly as he waved his fists.
Wang Yi smiled faintly, knowing that Niu Meng could hardly wait.
Sure enough, he appeared in front of the stone tablet in an instant. Lowering his body, he concentrated all his strength into his fist and shouted loudly before striking the stone tablet.
"13,000!"
Zhou Deyu smiled slightly and revealed the number on the stone tablet.
“Ha ha, Bastard, I Niu Meng am also an Inner Sect Disciple now,” Niu Meng said, clenching his fist and laughing heartily.
“Hmm.”
The other Earth Spirit Realm disciples gasped upon hearing this, thinking to themselves, “This Niu Meng really possesses divine strength. With his current power, he could probably defeat a second-tier disciple of the Earth Spirit Realm.”
“Not bad. Not bad.” Li Jianren nodded with satisfaction while sitting in his chair. “This generation of disciples is much stronger than the last.”
“Indeed, the future of our Kaiyang Sect lies in their hands,” Xiao Renyi said.
“Alright, you can go down now.” Zhou Deyu waved his hand at the excited Niu Meng. “Next.”
“Lin Zi, it’s your turn,” Niu Meng turned to look at Lin Chao.
“Country Bumpkin, it’s just thirteen thousand, nothing impressive,” an untimely voice interrupted, shattering Niu Meng's joy.
“Hmph, Bastard, Zhao Shanyu, don’t get too cocky. Today I want to see how impressive you really are,” Niu Meng retorted angrily.
“Pass.”
A hoarse yet powerful voice came from Zhou Deyu. “Be quiet.”
“Yes.” Zhao Shanyu glared fiercely at Niu Meng and bowed respectfully.
“Congratulations, Lin Shixiong,” Wang Yi said with a smile. Lin Chao’s strength was eleven thousand, but whether that was his true ability remained uncertain.
“Thank you, Wang Shidi, but you probably have already far surpassed me,” Lin Chao replied.
Wang Yi smiled calmly, not caring at all. With his current strength, he was indeed much stronger than Lin Chaoqiang.
"Hiss, Brother Zhao is indeed powerful, having struck a force of seventeen thousand pounds."
Upon hearing this, Wang Yi looked and saw that the number on the stone tablet was indeed seventeen thousand. He then glanced at Zhao Shanyu, who was proudly accepting compliments from Wang Zhou and others. A shock ran through his heart; it seemed that Zhao Shanyu's strength had increased significantly.
"Wang Shidi, you need to work hard!" Zhao Shanyu snorted coldly.
"Don't worry, Brother Zhao, I won't let you down," Wang Yi said with a slight smile. He had figured out Zhao Shanyu's narrow-mindedness; he couldn't stand anyone being stronger than him. Wang Yi completely disregarded him.
Hearing this, Zhao Shanyu's face darkened slightly as he thought to himself, "Hmph, don't get too proud too soon. I want to see just how impressive you really are."
The strength test continued.
"Bastard! Brother Chu, come on! You must be better than Zhao Shanyu!" Niu Meng shouted, waving his fist.
Chu Yixuan smiled calmly, but when these words reached Zhao Shanyu's ears, he snorted coldly and said, "Brother Chu, please go ahead!"
Chu Yixuan narrowed his eyes slightly and walked steadily to the stone tablet. With just a light shout, the stone tablet shook and displayed the number eighteen thousand.
"Oh, my apologies, Zhao Shidi. It looks like I just surpassed you by a little," Chu Yixuan said with a slight smile.
"What? You..." Zhao Shanyu's face immediately darkened. He felt that Chu Yixuan had deliberately struck that number to humiliate him by surpassing him by exactly one thousand pounds. The more he looked at the faint smile on Chu Yixuan's face, the more convinced he became of this.
"Haha, Bastard! I told you so! Zhao Shanyu, how could you possibly be Brother Chu's match?" Niu Meng clapped and laughed.
"Hmph, Niu Meng, shut up! The elder is here; you shouldn't speak so much," Zhao Shanyu snapped back angrily. This remark was like adding fuel to the fire, making Zhao Shanyu even more furious.
Upon hearing this, Niu Meng immediately restrained his laughter and glanced at Zhou Deyu with a hint of trepidation; he was well aware of this elder's formidable nature.
Subsequently, Fuli, Wang Zhou, and others took turns passing the strength test. It seemed that Li Gang and Zhao Shanyu were quite generous towards their trusted subordinates.
"Li Shizhi, it's your turn," Zhou Deyu said, looking at the calm-faced Li Gang.
"Hahaha, it's my son's turn now," Li Jianren said proudly, clearly satisfied with his precious son. Becoming an Inner Sect Disciple was almost a certainty.
"Li Shizhi is exceptionally talented; he will undoubtedly become an indispensable disciple of our Kaiyang Sect in the future," Xiao Renyi praised.
Li Gang, dressed in white with a jade pendant at his waist, looked handsome and composed. A smile appeared on his face as he respectfully bowed and approached the stone tablet. With a grip of his right hand, his knuckles cracked, and a humming sound emanated from the stone tablet: eighteen thousand.
"Ah! How could Li Shixiong only have eighteen thousand jin of strength?"
"Yeah, it seems that Brother Chu and Li Shixiong are evenly matched, while Brother Zhao is a bit weaker."
Hearing these discussions, Zhao Shanyu's expression darkened like clouds before a storm. He snorted coldly, and the chatter immediately ceased, as if a quacking duck had suddenly been grasped by the throat and could not breathe.
"Li Gang, I won't let this go," Zhao Shanyu said, clenching his fists tightly, his pale fingers turning as white as snow under the immense pressure.
"Li Shixiong has great skills!" Chu Yixuan laughed.
"Likewise," Li Gang waved his hand and replied, "Chu Shidi is not bad either."
"Next," Zhou Deyu said while stroking his White Beard with a smile.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted as everyone made way for a figure clad in white: Jin Qinghan.
With a cold gaze sweeping across the area, wherever she looked fell into silence, as if even the air had been frozen by her chilling presence.
"Let's get started!" Zhou Deyu looked at the cold-faced Jin Qinghan, his voice calm and unruffled.
Jin Qinghan walked slowly, without a hint of impatience or excitement on his face; there was only indifference, as if everything that fell into his sight became utterly ordinary.
Jin Qinghan gazed at the stone tablet before him, his right hand swirling, revealing his fair fingers. Suddenly, he grasped it, and his fist struck the stone tablet with great momentum.
Rumbling!
When his fist first made contact with the stone tablet, it was silent, but in an instant, it erupted with a sound like thunder, shaking everyone's eardrums and leaving them in shock.
"Eighteen thousand." Chen Cheng said.
"How is that possible? Jin Shixiong also struck eighteen thousand pounds."
"Yeah, could it be that Li Shixiong, Brother Chu, and Jin Shixiong all agreed on this?"
"Next." A hint of surprise flashed in Zhou Deyu's eyes, but his voice remained calm.
"Big brother, it's your turn! You must surpass Zhao Shanyu!" Niu Meng said excitedly.
