Full Conference Room The well-dressed individuals with serious expressions turned their gazes towards the noise.
Although she was mentally prepared, upon seeing the room full of people, Song Pearl couldn't help but show a hint of panic on her face. However, she didn't have much time to feel flustered.
The tall Cold Man had already stood up and walked in front of her, politely saying, "I'm sorry, we are currently in a meeting. Please step outside and wait."
Perhaps it was due to the warm air in the room, but the cold and unfeeling man's facial features seemed to soften a bit.
"I..." Song Pearl began to speak, but her body was involuntarily pushed out the door by Cold Man, who showed no courtesy. The door closed immediately after.
The staff member's previously polite demeanor and friendly expression seemed to have been an illusion.
How could this happen? Song Pearl stood at the door with her hands crossed.
When she was still a fish, her family had not yet moved here. She could freely control those who attempted to invade Fish Pond, scaring off those annoying individuals with ease.
Now, she thought she had regained that ability. She had used it several times successfully, even relying on the surrounding water sources without failure.
But just now, she clearly used it—why did it not work?
Perhaps it was because she was too eager for quick results, thinking she could easily gain from this ability.
In reality, she was now human and had been studying for many years. She couldn't control others anymore but could engage with them instead. She could communicate with them as equals.
Thinking this, Song Pearl rubbed her hands together as she stood at the door, waiting for these important figures to finish their meeting.
However, among all the old men in the room, aside from the one who had just pushed her, she couldn't tell who President Hong was and who Qing Zong was.
From the information she had gathered on her way here, it seemed that President Hong held more power.
According to Song Shiting, seeking out Qing Yuansheng might complicate things. Since President Hong had the most authority, she decided to approach him instead.
The light outside gradually dimmed as she stood idly at the door, maintaining her posture without change. Occasionally, someone would pass by and cast a curious glance her way, but no one spoke to her.
The conference room became noisy with the sounds of chairs moving and people getting up. The door opened, and those attending the meeting began to exit one after another.
"President Hong..." Song Pearl called out hurriedly, her voice somewhat timid and not very loud.
A somewhat slender middle-aged man of average height turned around. He didn't have any particularly outstanding features, but his eyes were sharp and deep.
This must be him!
Song Pearl squeezed through the crowd to stand in front of this man.
As Cold Man exited the conference room and closed the door, President Hong paused to listen to Song Pearl. The man's brow furrowed slightly as he stood a short distance behind President Hong, waiting for Song Pearl to finish.
"President Hong, I heard your group wants to buy land from our Song Family Village?" Song Pearl asked.
President Hong pondered for a moment and replied, "Isn't that the place where Qing Zong's hometown is located?"
Song Pearl nodded.
"We are currently planning this matter, and nothing has been finalized yet," President Hong said in a friendly tone, showing no signs of impatience, though his pace did not slow.
At that moment, a burly middle-aged man with a round face, large ears, and a slight beer belly walking in front of President Hong heard them mention him and stopped to look over.
He was Qing Yuansheng, the second-in-command of Hongqing Group.
Song Pearl followed closely and continued to ask, " President Hong, are you planning to build a factory on the land in Song Family Village?"
President Hong's expression turned slightly displeased; such matters were company secrets and should not be discussed casually before they were finalized. Now, a rural Girl was asking questions.
"This is something our group's senior management is still discussing. Miss, are you from Song Family Village?"
Song Pearl nodded.
President Hong turned to Qing Yuansheng, who had stopped to wait for him, and said, "Yuan Sheng, look, your fellow townsfolk have come."
Qing Yuansheng was sizing up this plain-looking, somewhat rustic Girl. Coming from the countryside was nothing to be ashamed of; it was just that her lack of awareness and reckless inquiries were somewhat embarrassing.
Moreover, it made him feel uncomfortable.
Qing Yuansheng nodded at Song Pearl. She smiled back at him and then straightened her back and lifted her chin.
Song Pearl clearly felt that this person named Qing had a condescending attitude, no wonder Song Shiting had a poor opinion of him.
He was the highest leader of Hongqing Group, respected by everyone, but that had nothing to do with her, Song Pearl. In terms of human rights, everyone was equal.
Song Pearl gradually gained confidence, and her voice grew louder.
"I would like to discuss the issue of our village's land with you." Song Pearl quickened her pace and stood in front of Qing Yuansheng and President Hong.
"It’s already after work hours; let’s talk about it tomorrow."
The two authoritative figures of the group did not take her seriously and walked towards the elevator, pressing the button without acknowledging her.
"Please wait!" Song Pearl clenched her fists and tried again, who knows it might work!
With no water around to use as a medium, she could only stare directly at the two men, projecting her controlling consciousness in hopes they would heed her command.
However, President Hong and Qing Yuansheng did not stop as she wished; she watched helplessly as they entered the elevator. Just as she was about to chase after them, someone grabbed her arm.
"Don't cause trouble here; come talk to me!" The voice was magnetic but devoid of warmth.
Song Pearl didn't need to look to know it was that tall, cold man.
"Will talking to you be effective?" Song Pearl glared up at the man who was a head taller than her. Throughout her years, she had always faced others with a smile and rarely clashed with anyone. She had never glared at anyone before.
The warm and polite demeanor of the man from earlier in the conference room had vanished completely. He now appeared expressionless, like a piece of frozen wood.
"You've conveyed what needs to be discussed with me, which is related to our group. I will report it to Chairman Hong and Qing Zong tomorrow. This is much better than you going over there and rambling without clarity." Although his voice was cold and devoid of warmth, he made a valid point.
Compared to those two wealthy individuals, the indifferent employee's attitude seemed much warmer.
"Alright, I need you to take notes and report to your chairman tomorrow. What position do you hold? Secretary, right?" Song Pearl spoke rapidly without much pause, issuing commands and answering her own questions. She felt she had never been this fluent even during her interviews.
Perhaps she was someone who thrived on challenges and grew stronger through adversity; she just wasn't used to the harshness and cruelty of people after being accustomed to her own environment.
"I am the Secretary of the Board of Directors. My name is Qing Wenyu," the cold man introduced himself. "Follow me."
Qing Wenyu led Song Pearl back to the room where the meeting had just taken place, pulled out a chair for her to sit down, and took a seat across from her, opening his notebook for her.
Song Pearl pondered her words and said, "I believe that the land in our village is not suitable for building factories..."
