"Isn't your village unsuitable for building a factory? It would be more appropriate to establish an Ecological Aquaculture Park?" Qing Wenyu put down the pen in his hand, his expression cold and emotionless.
"Yes, the transportation is underdeveloped, and it's located in a remote area. If a factory were built, large-scale production wouldn't be feasible, and sales would also be an issue, unless Hongqing Group buys up all the land in the entire village..."
Song Pearl spoke confidently and clearly. During her university days, she had conducted a planning experiment report on the land use of Song Family Village, which received praise from her teacher for being well done.
Thus, when she spoke these words now, she was very fluent and self-assured.
The nervous tremor in her voice earlier had transformed into calmness, her eyes shining with enthusiasm.
Qing Wenyu stood up and poured a glass of water, handing it to Song Pearl. His feelings towards her shifted from disdain to a hint of appreciation.
This unremarkable-looking girl had a faint smell of fish about her; she must be involved in aquaculture. It's impressive that she possesses such insight.
Song Pearl politely accepted the glass, blew on it lightly, took a gentle sip, and continued, "With the improvement of living standards, people's consumption levels have also risen. Ecological aquaculture is definitely a good project, and it can be combined with tourism as well. Your group seems to produce agricultural machinery, right? This aligns perfectly with agriculture and can attract more customer resources."
"Many villagers in Song Family Village have already set their sights on aquaculture; they just haven't formed a scale due to lack of investment. With mountains and water available, once established, we could raise fish, pigs, bears, and many rare birds and beasts, creating a cycle... You understand this, right? For example, pig manure can be used to grow green fruits and vegetables and can also feed fish—it's purely eco-friendly with no pollution... If I had money, I would definitely invest in building this project myself..."
Just as Song Pearl was getting excited, she noticed that Qing Wenyu seemed to twitch the corner of his mouth—was that a smile? Was he mocking her for being overly ambitious?
Right, she had strayed off-topic; discussing those matters was irrelevant! The key was about her family's situation—that was what truly mattered!
Qing Wenyu's half-smile expression pulled Song Pearl back from her wandering thoughts; there was still an important point to address!
"Your ideas are excellent; this is indeed a good investment project. I will organize this material and submit it to the chairman for approval," Qing Wenyu interrupted Song Pearl before she could continue. "Thank you for introducing such a good development project for Hongqing Group. Is there anything else?"
"Yes, what I mainly want is for you to keep our family's house and not fill in our Fish Pond. I hope you can call our village right now!" Song Pearl lifted the paper cup and took several sips of water.
As she set it down, her hand trembled slightly, causing a drop of water to splash out from the cup and land squarely on Qing Wenyu's prominent nose.
"Do you need more water?"
Qing Wenyu wiped the droplets of water off his nose. This casual gesture gave him a hint of warmth, reducing his cold demeanor. However, his narrow eyes remained downcast, making it hard to read his thoughts.
"Please call the village chief for us right now and tell him that the Fish Pond and the house belonging to Song Shiting must be preserved for the future," Song Pearl repeated. Unconsciously, she used her newly acquired ability to try to control the person in front of her, urging him to make the call. After finishing, she pressed her lips together, watching for any change in his expression.
"I can't make that call because it's a matter for your village. Moreover, I don't have the authority to make that decision. After all, we haven't approved your suggestion yet," Qing Wenyu firmly rejected Song Pearl's request and glanced at her again. "However, I will report your request, so please rest assured."
Who knows what might happen? Perhaps you have already forgotten! Is my ability ineffective against this person? Sweat formed on Song Pearl's nose.
"If there's nothing else, let's leave it at that for now!" Qing Wenyu said as he stood up, gathering his things in preparation to leave.
If he wants to go, then so be it! Song Pearl lowered her head; things were not going as smoothly as she had imagined. Her newly acquired ability was not omnipotent.
When she realized that her powers might return, she thought it was the old man helping her. However, based on how things were developing, it seemed like he wasn't assisting at all.
In truth, she didn't have grand ambitions; she merely wanted to use this ability to protect the pond in Song Village and secure a place for herself. Was this humble request really so difficult to achieve?
Qing Wenyu escorted Song Pearl out of the Hongqing Group's main entrance. He could tell that the girl was extremely reluctant to leave, and he worried that she might wander off again, so he made sure to see her out.
The Security Team Leader and Gatekeeper, who were waiting to reprimand Song Pearl, were left speechless as they watched her leave accompanied by Qing Secretary.
"Who is this girl to Qing Secretary?" the Gatekeeper asked with his mouth agape. "Qing Secretary is being so casual with her and... pulling her along. In all my time here, I've never seen Qing Secretary act so friendly with any girl!"
"Well, since she's an acquaintance of Qing Secretary, let's not worry about it; we’ve waited long enough!" The Security Team Leader took off his hat and began removing his uniform. He had been waiting here for over an hour just to teach this unknown country girl a lesson but didn't expect her to come out with Qing Secretary.
With nowhere else to vent his frustration, the Security Team Leader shot a glare at the Gatekeeper. "Are you trying to get close to Qing Secretary too? There are plenty of people living in the same staff quarters as Qing Secretary; you're not the only one!"
The Gatekeeper shrugged it off with a grin.
"I'm not stealing anything; you don't need to chase me away like I'm a thief!" Song Pearl muttered as she walked away, feeling her patience tested by this person. "I will come back tomorrow morning; you must have my things organized and reported!"
Song Pearl finished her thoughts and realized that the man who had pushed her out was nowhere to be found.
What bad luck! She had just come out from a heated room and felt the cold air outside. Song Pearl wrapped herself tighter in her somewhat oversized down jacket.
It was already dark, and the streets were bustling with people and cars. The streetlights and flickering neon signs added some warm colors to this County Town.
Song Pearl saw a thin young man in a cotton jacket walking out of the Hongqing Group's Gatekeeper office. She hurried a few steps to catch up and asked, "Excuse me, how do I get to the County People's Hospital?"
The young man had slightly upturned lips and a pair of charming phoenix eyes that carried a hint of laughter, making it easy for others to feel fond of him. He was the Gatekeeper who had scolded Song Pearl earlier that afternoon.
"You can't even find the county hospital?" The warm-looking Gatekeeper exaggerated his expression a bit, but since Qing Secretary had sent her out, he decided to help her.
"Just go straight ahead, turn left at the red light, keep going, and you'll see it. The sign is big and lights up," the Gatekeeper pointed out, "You can even see those words from here..."
"Oh, thank you!" Since this person was in casual clothes, Song Pearl had long forgotten that he was the one who had stopped her earlier. She instinctively thought that someone coming out of Hongqing Group couldn't be a bad person, so she asked him for directions.
