In the Factory Director's office, the Factory Director was leaning over the desk, studying the blueprints. He glanced at the list handed over by Minister Liu and asked, "What do you mean by bringing this?" 0

"This is the work performance of Song Pearl over the past three months. I brought it for you to review," Minister Liu replied with a hint of helplessness in his smile. "The girl is too confident. When I asked her about soil, she just said it was soil. I asked her to test the fertilizer components, and she came back with a zero... and she seemed quite sure of herself!" 0

"Soil is just soil; there's nothing wrong with that!" The Factory Director set aside the blueprints, sat down, and picked up the list again. "Everyone has their own style; this girl's handwriting is vigorous and powerful, much prettier than others!" 0

"Factory Director, what are you thinking? Are you trying to express your appreciation for talent?" Minister Liu wondered to himself. 0

"Hmph! With an attitude like that right after starting work, she won't do well anywhere! No wonder..." Minister Liu paused here, knowing that if he mentioned wanting to get rid of Song Pearl within a month, the Factory Director would likely agree. If he repeated it, it would make him seem narrow-minded. 0

"You can arrange your own subordinates; I've already given you that authority," the Factory Director said without needing a reminder from Minister Liu. 0

"Alright, I'll make sure to handle this properly," Minister Liu replied as he stood up and exited the Director's office. 0

When Song Pearl had finished cleaning up half of the Testing Table's glass instruments and putting them away, Minister Liu returned with his hefty frame. 0

"Song Pearl, come here; I have something for you." 0

Minister Liu's expression was friendly, and he did not glare at Song Pearl. 0

Song Pearl wiped her wet hands on a cloth and quickly walked over to Minister Liu. 0

"Song Pearl, I know you've been quite capable in these past two months, but your technical skills and professional abilities do not meet our department's requirements. Therefore, I suggest you consider not continuing in this position." 0

Minister Liu spoke earnestly while looking down at the floor without raising his eyes to meet Song Pearl's gaze. 0

"What job should I do then?" 0

Song Pearl lifted her eyes to look at Minister Liu, whose eyelids were drooping. 0

"You should go back to the headquarters and have them arrange something else for you; there isn't a suitable job for you here." Minister Liu felt that Song Pearl should not be pushed onto the Factory Director again, so it would be better to send her back to headquarters. 0

This was an attempt to drive her away. Song Pearl narrowed her eyes. 0

Who was she supposed to find at that headquarters? 0

"But I haven't made any mistakes; this job suits me quite well. I don't want to leave. If you want to push me out, you need to give me a reason." 0

In human survival, there are rules and regulations everywhere—whether it's going to school, walking, taking a bus, or finding a job. There should be rules in this factory as well. 0

"A reason?" Minister Liu smiled slightly. "The bag of fertilizer you inspected today is leftover from the company's flower planting. You took an hour and came up with nothing. That's not right." 0

"How does the Minister know I made a mistake?" Song Pearl stared at Minister Liu. "If I made a mistake, it requires a qualified arbitration department to make a determination for it to be valid. Minister Liu, if you don't understand, how can you say I'm wrong?" 0

Minister Liu felt somewhat guilty under Song Pearl's gaze. He glared at her and said, "Fine, tomorrow I'll send this fertilizer to the City Bureau Arbitration Department for inspection. If you're wrong, then there won't be any more discussion!" 0

"If we're sending it, we both need to go together; I don't trust you." Song Pearl replied. 0

She planned to stay here and didn't want to adapt to a new environment anymore. Since she wanted to remain, she needed to prove her capability. 0

Proving her capability couldn't rely on supernatural abilities; controlling people's consciousness was not an honorable act, and she didn't want to do that. She wanted the people here to recognize her from the bottom of their hearts. 0

"Don't trust me?" Minister Liu pointed at his own nose and stormed out of the Inspection Station. 0

"Tomorrow you have to go with me; otherwise, I won't believe it." Song Pearl shouted after Minister Liu. 0

Gao Xiaoxia, who had been eavesdropping, peeked out and winked at Song Pearl while giving her a thumbs-up, praising, "You're amazing! You just got here and already dared to challenge Minister Liu!" 0

"Anyway, he wants to drive me away, so I have to be clear." 0

"When facing the boss, you need to be diligent and sweet-tongued to have a good life. If you stay here, you need to pay attention," Gao Xiaoxia lectured in the tone of an experienced worker. 0

Song Pearl sat across from Gao Xiaoxia, picking at the wood on the table with her fingers. Gao Xiaoxia wasn't a bad person; her temper was unpredictable, and she loved to make a fuss and report things. Song Pearl didn't want to talk much with her and simply responded with an "mm." 0

The aluminum glass door made a sound as someone pushed open the Inspection Station's door and leaned in to look at the two of them, calling out, "Gao Xiaoxia!" 0

Gao Xiaoxia looked up, and so did Song Pearl. It was the young man who often came to find Gao Xiaoxia. He hadn't changed out of his oil-stained work clothes and wore his work cap askew, looking quite disheveled. 0

"Why are you here if you haven't clocked out?" Gao Xiaoxia glanced at him without enthusiasm. 0

"Are you coming to my house for dinner tonight? My mom has already prepared the meal and specifically sent me to invite you," the young man said with a smile. 0

"I'm not going. I don't have time tonight," Gao Xiaoxia replied impatiently. 0

"Do you not want to get engaged anymore?" The young man's smile froze, and his previously cheerful expression turned somewhat sinister. 0

"I never had any intention of getting engaged to you," Gao Xiaoxia didn't notice the change in the young man's demeanor. "Just go back." 0

"You fickle woman! You’ve only been in logistics for a few months and already changed your mind! Don’t forget this job was arranged for you through my dad’s connections. If it weren't for me begging my dad for help, would you even be sitting here drinking water in this office? You’d still be pulling castings in the workshop like me! You’ve eaten our family’s food and now that you've grown wings, you want to ditch me, right?" 0

The young man became agitated, raising his voice. 0

"What are you talking about?" Gao Xiaoxia was displeased and walked over to push the young man leaning against the doorframe. "Who cares about your family's money? It was all voluntary on your part. Don't cause trouble here; just leave!" 0

Song Pearl calmly watched the two pushing and shoving each other. They had been inseparable just yesterday but were now at odds; it seemed they were having a spat. Since it wasn't quitting time yet, she didn't want to leave and just sat there watching them argue. 0

At that moment, the young man suddenly raised his left hand, holding a glass bottle without a cap. 0

"Do you agree or not? If you don't agree, I'll disfigure you," the young man said fiercely, his eyes glinting with menace. 0

Song Pearl's pupils constricted as she stood up from her chair. The bottle had two clear words on it: Sulfuric Acid. 0

Disfigurement—she had seen such scenarios in her law textbooks, but she never expected to witness something like this in real life. 0

She feared that if this bottle of Sulfuric Acid were poured over her head, it would be far more than just disfigurement! 0

When Song Pearl was preparing the medicine yesterday, she had asked Gao Xiaoxia for Sulfuric Acid. Gao Xiaoxia had brought it to her from the storage room at the entrance, as Sulfuric Acid is a hazardous material and unsafe to keep indoors. 0

Now it seemed that the storage room at the entrance was even less secure; anyone could take whatever they wanted. 0

Just moments ago, Gao Xiaoxia had been intimidating, but now she looked pale with fear, tears welling in her eyes, her lips trembling but unable to speak. 0

"Hey," Song Pearl said with a smile at the twisted face of the young man. "Put that down, and let's talk slowly." 0

Based on her experience, her smile was effective. Although she had only used it a few times, it had never failed her. 0

When she smiled at the Factory Director in the Director's Office, work issues were easily resolved. When she smiled at the chef while buying food, he didn’t charge her right away; although he later deducted it from her pay, it worked at that moment. Smiling at her dorm mates earned her a dinner. Smiling at the safety officer by the well made him regain his awareness. 0

She was confident that with just a smile, this young man would immediately put down the Sulfuric Acid. 0

However, the enraged young man glanced at Song Pearl and remained unmoved by her smiling expression. 0

He turned back to Gao Xiaoxia, whom he was holding tightly. "Do you agree or not?" 0

How could it not be effective? Song Pearl's forehead was sweating with anxiety. No, wait! Her smile widened. Put it down! Put it down! 0

"Is this person really going to throw sulfuric acid at someone while you're just standing there grinning?" With a teasing voice, a young man lifted the sulfuric acid, only to have it snatched away from behind him. 0

The young man, who had been overly tense and angry while holding the sulfuric acid, hadn't noticed someone entering from behind. 0

In just a moment of distraction, he was restrained by someone in a security uniform who grabbed his arm. The person in the security uniform pressed the young man away while turning back to shout "Song Pearl," leaving with a grin that showed no teeth. 0

"Is that person Yuan Peng?" Song Pearl wondered uncertainly when a bottle of open sulfuric acid was placed on the table in front of her. 0

Who is this? Song Pearl finally noticed the person who had taken the sulfuric acid. Although dressed in a well-fitted dark suit, he gave off an air of aloofness, and his indifferent, deep-set eyes were devoid of warmth. 0

"Qing Secretary?" Song Pearl recognized him because among her acquaintances, only Zhang Yunye was as tall as he was. 0

At the door, Gao Xiaoxia slumped against the doorframe and slid to the ground, while the homeroom teacher and Minister Liu helped her into the room. 0
