Qing Wenyu recalled Yuan Peng's words, "You should go take a look; it's as poor as a primitive society!"
Watching the lively and amusing performances in the village, he realized that there were not many places left that were as impoverished as a primitive society these days.
Thinking about the company's Resort development, he formulated a further plan in his mind. Since they had already purchased the land of Song Family Village, it would be best to develop and renovate Song Family Village together, which would be more beneficial for future operational development.
He did not expect that this visit to investigate the construction of the Ecological Aquaculture Farm would yield such significant gains. Seeing the rich folk cultural activities in this village greatly lifted Qing Wenyu's spirits.
He remembered from the introduction of Song Family Village's land that there was an ancient and quaint Land Temple on the mountain beside the village. So, he parked his car in a relatively spacious area and planned to walk over to take a look.
Qing Wenyu was dressed in a khaki down jacket paired with dark jeans and travel shoes, giving him a vibrant appearance, completely devoid of the cold and unapproachable aura that Song Pearl had felt.
As the New Year approached, many people were visiting relatives and friends in the village, so Qing Wenyu's arrival did not attract much attention.
He walked along the deeply rutted dirt road to the mountain beside the village. The mountain was quite desolate, and the so-called Land Temple was very simple, with half of its corner collapsed and surrounded by dry, withered weeds.
After walking around, Qing Wenyu felt disheartened, which only strengthened his determination to develop this village. It would be a pity not to profit from such an ancient and quaint place.
He then thought of the Fish Pond at Song Shiting's home. This large expanse of water was just an ordinary Fish Pond; it was too unfortunate. It should be expanded and renovated to become part of a tourist attraction with greater development potential.
When he re-entered the village, it was already evening. The rhythmic sound of gongs echoed through the air as a girl carrying a gong approached him, accompanied by a blind man holding her arm.
"Would you like your fortune told?"
As Qing Wenyu walked by, a fortune teller wearing black glasses and sporting a goatee grabbed his arm.
"No," Qing Wenyu pulled his arm back, refusing.
"Just let me read your fortune for ten yuan," said the girl guiding the fortune teller. She had a chubby apple-shaped face, two pigtails, and bright, sparkling eyes that eagerly looked at Qing Wenyu.
The girl's gaze was hard to refuse. Qing Wenyu took out his wallet, pulled out ten yuan, and handed it to her. "Then go ahead and read my fortune!"
"Great!" The girl happily set down the bag she was carrying and helped the blind fortune teller sit down.
"Date of birth?" the fortune teller asked, stroking his goatee as he settled in.
Qing Wenyu had intended to leave after giving the girl the ten yuan, but he felt that such charity might hurt the pride of the grandfather and granddaughter duo, so he decided to stay and cooperate with them.
"I'll draw a lot!" Qing Wenyu squatted down to look at the fortune teller's worn-out divination tube.
This kind of divination tool was quite rare. He had only seen it on television and was surprised to find such an antiquated item in this remote Song Family Village.
"Are you villagers from Song Family Village too?" Qing Wenyu asked while shaking the divination tube.
"When shaking the lot, your heart must be sincere; you can't speak!" The fortune teller said slowly. "Do it again."
Qing Wenyu pressed his lips together and shook the divination tube once more.
At this time, the hustle and bustle on the road had faded away. The villagers were busy heading home to prepare dinner, and there weren't many pedestrians left. However, a crowd of onlookers still gathered around to watch Qing Wenyu shake the divination sticks.
After shaking out a stick, Qing Wenyu picked it up and examined it. It was different from what he expected; this stick only had a single mark on it and no characters at all. Wasn't there supposed to be something like an upper or lower sign?
Qing Wenyu felt puzzled.
The fortune teller took the stick and touched it with his finger, saying, "The matter you seek will require much effort, but as long as you remain ordinary and cautious, avoiding water, everything will turn out well. Also," the fortune teller pointed in the direction of Song Pearl's house, "I can see that the layout of that place can bring you good fortune. However, any changes there may affect your destiny."
Qing Wenyu looked towards the direction the fortune teller indicated, a cold smile forming on his lips. "You must be mistaken. I'm not that person, and that place has nothing to do with me."
With that, he stood up and strode away.
