"Call more people over!" Song Pearl was originally at the back of the crowd, but she squeezed her way to the front upon hearing the commotion.
"Isn't Wan Jiang being a bit too much of a personal hero? Or does he just love to fight?"
"The phone signal is really good!" The man holding the phone was calling for reinforcements.
"Do you dare to come out to the entrance?" The round-faced man spoke, his double chin quivering as he did.
"Let's go!" Wan Jiang exchanged glances with the office director. They had more people on their side now, and if they didn't put down the troublemakers now, it would be impossible to establish themselves and make money in the future.
It didn't take long before two cars pulled up at the factory entrance, revealing muscular men with tattoos, sporting long hair and dressed in bizarre outfits—definitely not good people.
Someone whispered, "Clear and Bright hasn't arrived yet, and these guys don't seem to mind the cold in their skimpy clothes!"
"Are you all going to rush in together or one by one?" Wan Jiang and his partner stood back-to-back, their fingers cracking as they watched the aggressive group get out of the cars.
"First, open the main gate!" The leader of the thugs was left-handed, holding a thick club in his left hand while tapping it against his right.
The half-bald Old Gatekeeper did not move or show any intention of opening the gate because the girl who had told him to close it was standing next to him, her lips curling into a smile.
What was initially a very dangerous scene—one that Song Pearl dreaded—turned out to be amusing. When she heard the leading thug demand to open the gate, she couldn't help but laugh, thinking these people weren't nervous at all! Yet no one noticed that the gate remained closed...
"Open up, open up." Song Pearl continued laughing, smirking at Old Gatekeeper. For the first time, she felt that fighting wasn't scary; instead, she found herself wanting to watch the spectacle.
Twenty or thirty Social Youth rushed in all at once. The factory workers couldn't help but step back several paces. They were honest laborers who relied on their strength for work and had families to support; they didn't want to gamble with their lives.
Song Pearl also stepped back cautiously. Although she wanted to see what was happening, she didn't want to get hurt or caught in the chaos.
The fight wasn't particularly chaotic or bloody. As the thugs charged forward with clubs in hand, some hesitated between fighting or fleeing. Meanwhile, Wan Jiang and the office director had already taken action. Their moves were simple; they tossed aside those who lunged at them, sending several crashing into others behind them. They then weaved through the crowd, landing punches and kicks left and right until all those who had been so arrogant moments ago were now sprawled on the ground.
Song Pearl clapped her hands in delight. She had never lost herself like this before; watching the fight was exhilarating. She laughed so hard that her body shook and shouted, "So impressive! So impressive!"
In such a scene where no one cheered would be strange. According to how things usually went, since they were defeated now, shouldn't they be begging for mercy and seeking peace?
The first two Suppliers who arrived were trembling with fear, their lips quivering and teeth chattering as they clenched their fists, unsure of what to do.
Finally, the man with a round face, round eyes, and a double chin took a deep breath and apologized to Wan Jiang, "Manager Wan, I didn't expect you to be so capable. We were rude, and since the deal fell through, let's part on good terms. We won't disturb you again in the future."
With that, he held his head high and strode out of the factory with his companions, starting their vehicle and leaving without acknowledging the fighters they had brought in.
A big thug who had been lying on the road got up with a grimace and wanted to leave in disgrace. However, Wan Jiang stood at the factory gate, blocking their way. In a somewhat hoarse and deep voice, he said, "I've just taken office for a week and will need your support in the future. Since you've come to my factory, I can't let you leave empty-handed. Brothers, let's have a meal before you go!"
He then looked at the workers holding iron rods and sticks. "Thank you all for cheering for me today. Lunch is on me, and you'll still receive your wages during the holiday!"
"Great! Great!" The workers cheered and clapped. The boss was generous, and they didn't feel uncomfortable about their earlier retreat.
"What’s going on?" Wang Shuzhi approached with a stack of data sheets in hand. "I finished organizing the production data and went to check the workshop, only to find all the equipment running idle while everyone was gone!"
"It's nothing serious; we just promoted team spirit!" Wan Jiang shrugged casually. "The efficiency was quite high; it was quickly summarized."
"Well, I'm still getting familiar with things after just taking over. Luckily, it wasn't too much," Wang Shuzhi said modestly. "It's a pity I got too involved and missed out on the fight!"
Wan Jiang raised the report in his hand towards Song Pearl. "Girl, what you wanted has come out." Song Pearl hurried over to take it, biting her lip as she said, "Thank you."
"Oh dear, were you scared?" Wan Jiang laughed. "Let's have lunch here to calm your nerves. After lunch, I'll have Yuan Peng take you back."
Yuan Peng? Upon hearing that familiar name, Song Pearl looked around. Is Yuan Peng here too? She raised her eyes to see two distinctly dressed security guards but didn’t recognize anyone.
The office director who had fought alongside Wan Jiang had already wrinkled his nose several times and huffed, "No need to look; Yuan Peng is right here! What kind of eyesight do you have? He’s been riding in my car since we moved to the new factory and still doesn’t recognize me—what a talent!"
"Uh," Song Pearl was taken aback once more and bit her lip again, feeling embarrassed as she said, "I really didn't recognize you; your hair is too short now, your face has changed a bit, your eyes look bigger too. And," she frowned, "Yuan Peng doesn't look like you!"
After hearing Song Pearl's words, Yuan Peng's face did seem somewhat distorted; he began to doubt if he had become too generic-looking!
With many people dining together, the dishes took some time to prepare. Everyone pitched in by setting up tables and benches in the factory area while helping cook and prepare food. The atmosphere was lively and joyful; even those who had come to fight joined in the activity, truly embodying the saying that laughter can dissolve enmity.
Song Pearl shared a table with Wan Jiang, Yuan Peng, and Wang Shuzhi for lunch. Their table had four dishes and a soup that were visually appealing and delicious. Having worked at this factory for several months, Song Pearl had never tasted such good food until now.
"Half Spoon can also cook such delicious dishes!" Song Pearl exclaimed while holding up her chopsticks in admiration.
"Half Spoon has already moved to the new factory area; these dishes were made by our newly hired chef," Wang Shuzhi said as he took a sip of wine.
“Girl, don’t mind us rough folks. Just eat more vegetables, don’t be polite.” Wan Jiang stuffed a bun into Song Pearl's hand, urging her to eat without asking her to drink with them.
“Let’s eat. If you keep being polite, she won’t even know where her mouth is!” Yuan Peng helped to ease the situation for Song Pearl.
At that moment, Song Pearl realized that the reason the office director had been indifferent to her since she got on the new factory was that she hadn’t recognized him right away.
“Why do we have to fight with these people? Why bother with their meals?” Song Pearl asked.
“Since this factory was acquired by Hongqing Group, there have been constant disturbances. Things often go missing, and Hongqing has been operating here for over a year without making a profit and has been losing money. After the relocation, the new Factory Director was supposed to be assigned to Han Village Machinery Factory but resigned on the spot. So this hot potato ended up in my hands,” Wan Jiang said as he took a bite of food and put down his chopsticks. “Fortunately, Wang Shuzhi was willing to stay; he can do the work of three people. Of course, there’s also Brother Yuan Peng, whom I specially invited over.”
“That won’t do! That won’t do!” Yuan Peng waved his hand. “Everything is for the purpose of making money. You promised me three years’ salary for one year’s work before I came!”
“So, I must make this factory profitable. The premise for profitability is that no one causes trouble, reducing costs in all aspects, and everyone needs to unite as one. To achieve this, it’s not enough for me to just make promises; I need immediate results. The most effective way to show my capability is through action, and the quickest way is to fight first and suppress some local bullies so that the next steps can proceed smoothly.”
This method is quite unique! Perhaps only someone like Wan Jiang would think of doing it this way. Song Pearl bit into the bun with a slight smile at the corner of her mouth while the three men drinking were raising their glasses and didn’t notice her smile.
