Song Zhenbao did not hide the concern on her face. Although Qing Wenyu was married, her feelings for him had become increasingly blatant, yet he remained oblivious.
"How do you know about my private matters?" Qing Wenyu leaned against his forehead and looked at her, his gaze somewhat cold. "Are you spying on me?"
"No, I don't have that kind of ability!" Song Zhenbao hurriedly explained when she saw that Qing Wenyu seemed angry. "I just care about you; don't overthink it. I found out about the snake situation, and you experienced it yourself. Because of the trap you fell into in the mountains, Song Pearl's care left a lasting impression on you, which is why you developed feelings for her..."
At this point, Song Zhenbao bit her lip. She hadn't expected that he had already crossed paths with her and that there was a life-saving grace involved.
"Who brought the snakes to the park? And why so many?" Qing Wenyu stared at Song Zhenbao. "It can't be Song Pearl; she had classmates over last night and stayed at her dad's place. She didn't have time to lure snakes to take revenge on Jin Weicheng, and she wouldn't do something like that!"
"Do you really believe her?" Song Zhenbao asked, feeling somewhat unwilling.
"Yes!" Qing Wenyu nodded.
The video showed a large number of snakes emerging from various corners and gathering in the park, just as Jin Weicheng and his group spotted them, nearly causing an accident.
The Orochimaru suddenly appeared behind Jin Weicheng, causing the snakes to quickly slither away. However, Jin Weicheng still ended up on the Rockery, where he was bitten on the arm by the Orochimaru.
Qing Wenyu knew that the sudden appearance of the Orochimaru must have been due to the snake ring in Song Pearl's possession.
Song Pearl couldn't control that snake ring herself; it was transformed with his help. Neither of them could explain what was going on, which is why he believed in Song Pearl.
"I was the one who lured the snakes over, avoiding pedestrians specifically so that Jin Weicheng and his group would encounter them. He had been provoking you for a while, and I couldn't stand it anymore, so I decided to teach him a lesson... A master gave me a potion that attracts snakes; they can follow the scent!"
Song Zhenbao bit her lip. "But you've seen another one of Song Pearl's abilities, right?"
The camera clearly captured the moment when Song Pearl pulled Jin Weicheng's arm from the snake's mouth, the bright red of the wound appearing for just an instant before it vanished. If it weren't for the slow-motion replay, anyone would think it was an illusion.
"What does it matter if you saw it? Don't do these meaningless things anymore. Song Pearl won't harm me. Since you've already seen through the true nature of the Jin Family, if you want to reconcile with Wu Qiang and Pearl, stop these underhanded actions. Pearl studies Animal Husbandry; it's not surprising that she can communicate with animals and heal wounds..."
Qing Wenyu's expression remained unchanged. "I've kept this mini camera; thank you for your gift. This matter ends here."
"Alright! If that's the case, I hope you take care. I don't want you or Pearl to get hurt; after all, we are sisters. I'm really happy to see how much you trust her."
Song Zhenbao's expression changed faster than flipping a book, her smile sincere and showing no shame for her actions. She continued, "I have plenty of funds now, and competing with Jin Weicheng for the Resort project is almost guaranteed success. Once I succeed in the competition, I want to merge Jinshan Resort with your Hongqing Group for joint management, leveraging your strength and technology to compete with Jin Mai. Pearl has expertise in Animal Husbandry; I also want her to help manage the Ecological Aquaculture Farm. Do you think that's feasible?"
Qing Wenyu listened carefully to Song Zhenbao's proposal, lowered her gaze in thought, and replied, "I can make decisions regarding cooperation with Hongqing, but as for Pearl, you should discuss that with her directly."
"I will talk to her soon; as long as my uncle agrees, Song Pearl will agree too." Song Zhenbao was full of confidence.
Wang Ziyan and Song Pearl came down from the Rockery, and a Grass Green Python slithered behind them, coiling downwards. A worker from the Ecological Aquaculture Farm followed at the back.
"Don't you have more snakes that came over? Go look for them," Wang Ziyan instructed the man standing on the grass.
"I've already searched; I couldn't find any." The man frowned in distress and said sadly, "President Song, there are no snakes left at the Ecological Aquaculture Farm. I can't go back; I'll take Ani down the mountain today."
"But there's still one snake here," Song Pearl smiled at him. "You can take this snake back to Snake Garden on the mountain; I have no place to keep it here, and it might come out and hurt someone..."
"Really? That's great! I'll make sure to keep a close eye on it this time so it doesn't escape." The snake handler lifted the snake and placed it into a Tricycle; surprisingly, the snake behaved well and allowed him to handle it. He climbed in himself and said, "I'm going back now; Ani is waiting at home!"
The driver of the tricycle was startled when he saw a snake being pushed into his vehicle; he didn't dare move it and could only hurry along after the man.
"Get down quickly! I'm waiting for two beautiful women here, what are you coming up for?"
However, the man got down, but the snake remained motionless in the car. The driver of the tricycle could only accept his misfortune and nervously transported the person and the snake to Song Family Village's Ecological Aquaculture Farm.
"Pearl, can you talk to snakes?" Wang Ziyan recalled Song Pearl's actions as they walked out of the park together. "Aren't you into aquaculture now? Have you become a beast tamer?"
Song Pearl smiled, "No, you misunderstood."
"Really?" Wang Ziyan thought carefully and decided not to pursue the topic further.
"I still need to stay here for a few more days to assess whether your farm is suitable for our experimental base. If you're busy with work, you don't have to worry about me!"
Wang Ziyan smiled at Song Pearl.
Song Pearl linked her arm with Wang Ziyan's and laughed, "You rarely come here, so I have to accompany you to explore our hometown, try the local food, and besides, I'm not that busy."
Wang Ziyan smiled again, surprised that Song Pearl was also being hospitable.
Song Pearl led Wang Ziyan on a tour of the Ecological Aquaculture Farm. The scale of the farm amazed Wang Ziyan; she had initially thought that in such a poor area, even if there was an Ecological Aquaculture Farm, it would just be a collection of small-scale farmers raising a few chickens or ducks. She never expected there would be several well-established chicken and cattle farms. After touring around, she realized not only were there many varieties, but also that the management techniques were quite advanced.
There were some improved breeds of livestock and poultry that she had never seen before. There were also professional veterinarians and aquaculture technicians; any keeper who came over could share a wealth of useful feeding knowledge.
"Pearl, this doesn't seem like a place that's about to go out of business! Everyone here seems to be doing really well; this looks more like a research institute than our aquaculture research facility!"
After the tour, Wang Ziyan shared her thoughts while sitting at the dining table.
"These are all contracted by the farmers; there are not many livestock and poultry that truly belong to the Ecological Aquaculture Farm anymore," Song Pearl sighed. "It’s still my lack of management ability that has led to this situation."
They had this meal at Wu Qiang's house because Wang Ziyan was the closest friend, and it was near the Ecological Aquaculture Farm. Moreover, Wu Qiang was happy to cook for them. In the afternoon, Song Pearl brought Wang Ziyan back.
"Is the black goose in the big pond at the entrance also privately raised? I didn't see it when I came yesterday," Wang Ziyan said, sitting in the yard, looking through the open gate at the black goose swimming leisurely in the Fish Pond.
Song Pearl's gaze fell on the geese in the pond. "The last batch was sold out; I didn't expect there would still be some left."
She smiled self-deprecatingly. Since Wang Ziyan didn’t recognize that these were geese, she didn’t plan to elaborate.
"These are geese, a meat improvement breed developed by Pearl. You didn’t know, did you? These geese all ran back here on their own!"
Wu Qiang brought over boiling hot water and invited them to drink tea. "Come, come, have some Biluochun tea first. This is from Song Pearl's Ecological Aquaculture Park this year; I find it even more fragrant than the authentic original."
"This father thinks everything about his daughter is great; I bet the water in this pond is sweet too!" Wang Ziyan remarked as she watched the curled tea leaves in her purple clay cup, feeling a bit resentful. "And those are clearly geese, yet they call them geese..."
Upon hearing Wu Qiang say that the geese had run back on their own, something turned in Song Pearl's mind. The ones that could run back were all first-generation improved breeds that were not intended for sale. Since the geese could return, she wondered if other animals had also come back from outside. She had only brought Wang Ziyan to see livestock and poultry farming and hadn’t checked on the special birds and beasts raised in the back mountain.
Wu Qiang soon prepared a lavish spread of dishes. Wang Ziyan initially thought that with such a simple setup, there wouldn’t be much to eat; she would be lucky if they could stew a pot of fish soup. To her surprise, besides fish soup, other dishes were served one after another.
There was a bowl of Carp Tofu Soup, with a milky thick broth that smelled deliciously fresh. The stir-fried green vegetables were unrecognizable but looked very appetizing.
"This Sweet and Sour Ribs, this Lamb Stew with Mushrooms, and this..." Wu Qiang enthusiastically introduced each dish and urged them to eat quickly while it was hot.
Since they were at home, he didn’t let them drink alcohol and instead gave each of them a glass of juice.
"This juice is freshly squeezed today; it's not the same flavor as what you get in the stores," Wu Qiang said while busying himself.
"Dad, when did you make so many dishes? And there's juice too. You didn't spend the whole time making this, did you?" Song Pearl asked, unable to handle Wu Qiang's enthusiasm any longer as she put down her chopsticks.
Wang Ziyan thought the dishes on the table were even better than what they had at the restaurant yesterday. She lowered her head to eat fish and drink soup, and when she heard Song Pearl's question, she looked up at Wu Qiang.
Wu Qiang smiled a bit awkwardly, like a child caught doing something wrong. "You caught me! But I didn't spend all day on this. We had guests at noon, so I had the chef from Ecological Aquaculture Farm help prepare some dishes for us. Actually, what you two are eating, aside from this fish soup, are leftovers from lunch!"
"Leftovers taste pretty good too!" Wang Ziyan said with a smile as she continued eating, but she only ate the fish and didn't touch the other dishes.
"The fish you stewed tastes really great!" she praised.
"It's not that my fish-stewing skills are good; it's that Pearl's aquaculture techniques are excellent. The freshness of the fish from her Fish Pond is unmatched by others!" Wu Qiang said.
"Here we go again with the self-praise!" Wang Ziyan rolled her eyes as she lowered her head.
