"Today, Treasure's parents have arrived. Pearl should go entertain them. Why don't we invite them all over?" Tian Yue asked.
"Forget it, let's change the plan! I won't invite Song Shiting and his wife to dinner unless the sun rises from the west!"
Qing Yuansheng stood up. "I'm heading to the company. Since Wen Yu and the others aren't coming, I won't be back for dinner tonight!"
"This person really..." Tian Yue's words were left unfinished as Qing Yuansheng had already exited through the door.
Just as his figure disappeared, the White Cat leisurely walked out from the corner, leaping onto the courtyard wall. Tian Yue, holding a spray bottle, smiled at the cat.
Fortunately, there was this little creature; otherwise, she would feel quite lonely.
Song Pearl drove to the hospital to pick up Liu Cuiying and Song Shiting, but the couple decided not to stay at her place and instead wanted to stay with Treasure. Song Pearl didn't want to force them; after all, they were her parents. If they stayed at her place, it might seem like they were distancing themselves from Song Zhenbao.
She took them home for a meal and then sent them to Song Zhenbao's single apartment in Linshui.
"Treasure should buy us a house after Jinshan Construction finishes the Villa Area so we can move back," Liu Cuiying said while sitting in the car, looking at the scenery outside and smiling at Song Pearl.
Song Pearl smiled back but remained silent. Was Song Zhenbao planning to settle down in Linshui? Would he buy a house and let his parents move back?
"This child never settles down!" Liu Cuiying continued, "We've let her do as she pleases these past few years. Pearl, please keep an eye out for suitable young men for Treasure. She should find a good person to marry!"
"Okay. I'll keep an eye out," Song Pearl promised with a smile, reassuring Liu Cuiying.
After dropping them off at their destination, she went to the Ecological Aquaculture Farm because Song Zhenbao wanted to sell the Azure Snake from Snake Garden. She had to come see it.
The snake had been living in Snake Garden for over two years, enjoying a life of luxury—eating and sleeping without moving an inch from its large pool; it couldn't even be chased away.
Now, finally, someone found it undesirable and wanted to sell it.
Although Song Pearl agreed without much concern, she still felt a bit reluctant. This snake was not an ordinary one; it once had some spirit.
She really wanted to ask Zhang Yunye if he had tampered with the snake that time. But she never saw him.
Its appearance might be due to Zhang Yunye.
Song Pearl attributed all the inexplicable phenomena to Zhang Yunye.
Two days later, Song Zhenbao recovered and was discharged from the hospital, bringing along a client who intended to pay a high price for the snake to the back mountain. This client was thin and spirited, with a dark scar on one side of his forehead, giving him a somewhat fierce look.
He circled around the large green creature in the pond several times, repeatedly exclaiming, "This is indeed a good thing! How many years has this snake lived?"
"A lot of years. It was not bred by our Ecological Aquaculture Farm; it is a native Snake King from Song Family Village." Song Pearl was specially invited to accompany and introduce.
"I wonder how much you plan to offer for it? What do you intend to do with it?" she asked.
The client showed displeasure upon hearing this and remained silent.
Song Zhenbao immediately shot her a glare and scolded, "That's the client's privacy. If he finds the price reasonable, we will sell it. Why ask what he intends to do with it?"
Song Pearl smiled and stopped talking.
"Wow, this guy is actually here! Are you planning to buy this snake as a sacred object for your tribe?" A clear and bright voice came from across the pond as Zhang Yunye walked over casually.
When did he come in? Song Pearl expressionlessly glanced at the exaggeratedly expressive Zhang Yunye.
"I want to know if this snake is safe and non-venomous?" The client ignored Zhang Yunye's irrelevant question and continued to ask.
"This snake is non-venomous," Song Pearl replied pleasantly. "If you are buying it for breeding purposes, we will give you a reasonable price. However, if you intend to put it on the dining table, I'm sorry, we cannot sell it."
"Song Pearl!" Song Zhenbao's eyebrows nearly stood up. She looked at Song Pearl and said, "Whether we can sell it or not is up to me."
At Wu Qiang's place, she clearly had the authority over the Wildlife at the Ecological Aquaculture Farm. Moreover, it was her decision on how to handle the transactions of these Wildlife. Now, Song Pearl was unexpectedly unable to sell in front of the guests.
"Is this snake really non-venomous?" the guest asked again.
"No."
"Alright then." The guest stepped into the pool and reached out to touch the coiled Orochimaru. Its skin felt cool to the touch. He then sniffed along the snake's body and nodded, looking at Song Zhenbao, "I'm very satisfied with the merchandise. Let's discuss the price when we get back!"
He completely ignored Song Pearl and Zhang Yunye beside him. Zhang Yunye was just a tourist, and Song Pearl was merely a Keeper; he didn't need to care about them at all.
"Sir, didn't you understand what this lady said?" Zhang Yunye crossed his arms in front of them, raising an eyebrow leisurely. "She kindly reminded you that this snake can only be kept alive, not killed."
"Why? Just because it's the Snake King here?" The guest looked at Zhang Yunye, his oily face slightly reddening. "I have my own uses for it when I take it home; keeping it alive is out of the question."
Zhang Yunye smiled brightly. "If I tell you the truth, it might not be good for you, but I'm afraid you might end up losing money!" He subtly glanced at Song Zhenbao.
"What truth or falsehood?"
Song Zhenbao furrowed his brow, unsure of what this person was trying to sell him. Although he had invested money to help himself, he ultimately stood with Song Pearl.
On the surface, they were allies, but he could never see through her true intentions.
Song Zhenbao knew how important this Orochimaru was to Song Pearl, so she wanted to clear the first hurdle first.
Now that a customer had finally come to buy, Song Pearl had not opposed it, but suddenly Zhang Yunye appeared.
"Should I or shouldn't I?" Zhang Yunye rested his chin on his hand, appearing deep in thought.
Song Pearl looked at Zhang Yunye and suddenly said, "Do you think it's just an artificial Electronic Pet?"
"What?"
"Electronic Pet?"
Both the customer and Song Zhenbao questioned simultaneously, "Isn't it a snake?"
"It is a snake!" Zhang Yunye said with amusement as he looked at them. "And it's a snake that has grown for many years, an artificial mechanical snake! This snake is very expensive; it's not meant to be eaten. It can only be kept as a sacred object, and over time, it will bless you!"
Bless? Protect? Song Zhenbao recalled how that snake had bitten Jin Weicheng's arm, but in reality, it had saved him.
"This isn't a real snake!" The customer was unconvinced and angrily looked at Song Zhenbao. "Song General Manager, you sent me photos online. I didn't expect you would use a fake snake to deceive me!"
"But you just verified it; you said it was non-venomous!" Song Zhenbao was surprised that Zhang Yunye would present such an unrealistic truth. She anxiously explained to the customer.
"I can prove that it's a mechanical snake." Zhang Yunye seemed worried they wouldn't believe him. He glanced at Song Zhenbao, the customer, and then at Song Pearl. "It can change size at will."
As he moved, the Grass Green Python indeed began to change, becoming as thin as a Willow Leaf, almost like a scene from a Mythical Television Drama.
"How did you do that?" The customer's pupils dilated as he asked in astonishment.
"It's nothing special! Pets are like this! It's just a high-tech product!" Zhang Yunye shrugged, "It's something scientists have developed!"
After he finished speaking, he lifted the grass-like leaf, and the green leaf-shaped snake slowly returned to its original size.
"This is the value of this snake!" After demonstrating, Zhang Yunye smiled lightly, "So, wanting to buy this snake is one aspect; its usage is another."
"I want to buy a snake, not a mechanical toy. How can this be worth so much? I think even one dollar would be a waste!" The customer's lips twitched as he said to Song Zhenbao. "I want an identical real snake that must be non-venomous! If you can't find one within three days, you will owe me triple the penalty for breach of contract!"
After finishing, he quickly strode away but turned back halfway to add, "I'll come back to verify the goods once you find it!"
Song Zhenbao was confused by the sudden situation. It wasn't until the customer left the Snake Garden that she snapped back to reality and asked Song Pearl, "Is there another snake of the same size?"
Song Pearl was still lost in thoughts about the snake's body that could change naturally. Upon hearing Song Zhenbao's question, she shook her head indifferently, "There is only this one, no more!"
"It's not a snake, why didn't you say so earlier!" Song Zhenbao shouted.
"I didn't know it wasn't a snake!" Song Pearl replied with a bewildered and innocent expression. She pointed at Zhang Yunye, "It's that gentleman's; you can ask him. Don't you know that this snake has a huge appetite?"
"You two are clearly in cahoots to trick me! Why didn't you say anything when we were eating at Uncle's place? You didn't react at all when I sold it!"
"The Ecological Aquaculture Farm doesn't only have this one snake. I saw it years ago, and I told Song Pearl it was an Electronic Pet!"
"Liars! You two liars!" Song Zhenbao angrily stomped out of the Snake Garden in her high heels.
"I didn't expect you wouldn't believe me!" Zhang Yunye shrugged at Song Pearl, "I already told you it's an Electronic Pet!"
"Yours is the snake ring on my thumb, not this big Python!"
"Alright! You're impressive," Zhang Yunye smiled helplessly, "Let's stop playing games and find a place to talk properly, shall we?"
"What to talk about?" Song Pearl looked at the sunny, youthful-looking boy, "About the released Pearl Fish? Or about how you knew I was a Fish Demon but let me go? Or will you tell me who you really are?"
"Why talk about those things?" Zhang Yunye seemed unconcerned about Song Pearl's aloofness and coldness. "I'm more interested in that Mysterious Monster around you; how did it wake you up again?"
"Fine!" Hearing Zhang Yunye mention the monster, Song Pearl agreed. They should have a good talk; she was also curious about how long he had been protecting her and about that persistent White Cat. If possible, she wanted to ask him for help to get rid of it.
As they walked down the mountain, Song Zhenbao had already entered Qing Wenyu's office, sitting down across from him with a look of resentment on her face.
Looking up from his desk where he was reviewing documents, Qing Wenyu noticed Song Zhenbao's pale complexion and smiled as he asked, "Aren't you supposed to be at the Ecological Aquaculture Farm dealing with the sales of Wildlife? Why are you back so soon?"
"Yes! I am in contact with a major client," Song Zhenbao said, feeling quite frustrated. "And we have already signed a contract; he is purchasing the largest Python from Snake Garden.
She looked at Qing Wenyu and asked, "Do you remember the video we watched two years ago? The one with the snake that could talk to Song Pearl? That client is very interested in that snake!"
"Did you show that video to anyone else?" Qing Wenyu's expression turned cold.
"I did it to attract business for Ecological Aquaculture Farm! Ever since collaborating with that research institute, Ecological Aquaculture Farm has not allowed visitors, and Wildlife has always been neglected despite the significant investment. So I wanted to promote some animals' special features! Who would have thought that when the client came to see the snake, it turned out to be a big joke—it was actually a Toy Snake!"
"A Toy Snake?" Qing Wenyu smirked. "Was it that Azure Green Snake?" he asked.
"Yes! You know about it!" Song Zhenbao looked at him in shock.
"Of course, I heard about it from Pearl. I even delivered it to Ecological Aquaculture Farm with her. Didn't I tell you?"
Whether he mentioned it or not was no longer important; the fact was that she, Song Zhenbao, had been played again!
"Then why didn't you say anything when I showed you the video back then?" Song Zhenbao asked.
"Why should I?" Qing Wenyu didn't want to deal with the emotionally unstable Song Zhenbao anymore and lowered his head to continue reviewing documents.
"But the client wants the same snake; otherwise, we will have to pay three times the penalty!" she said weakly. (To be continued...)
