"You have a weapon in your hand, so why fear them?" the leader scolded. "We are battle-hardened, having survived countless life-and-death situations. Do you think we would be afraid of these rookies who spend every day in the office without ever experiencing real combat?"
"The boss is right; these people probably haven't even seen the weapons we have," another added.
With that, the young man's spirits lifted considerably.
The vehicle continued to drive, and a few minutes later, they could see the police cars ahead. The vehicles were approaching from both ends of the road, with a black van positioned in the middle.
Seeing this, the driver became uneasy. "Boss, I can't shake the feeling that they're surrounding us."
In addition to the police cars that were closer to them, they could hear sirens in the distance, indicating that there were more police vehicles beyond the six they could see. It was unusual to see so many police cars on one road.
The leader also sensed something was off. There was nowhere to hide on the road, and their van was just an ordinary vehicle; its performance couldn't match that of a police car. If a shootout occurred, their vehicle wouldn't guarantee their safety.
Having already surveyed the nearby terrain, the leader instructed the driver, "Turn right up ahead."
"Boss, our vehicle is on the left side. If we turn right, we'll only move further away from where we need to switch cars," the driver reminded him.
The leader replied, "If these officers are indeed surrounding us, do you think we'll have time to switch vehicles once we reach our destination?"
What foolishness!
What they needed to do now was quickly ascertain whether these police officers were truly surrounding them. If they were, they had to find a hidden place to conceal themselves and not expose their position entirely to the police; only then would they have a chance to escape.
Now that they had left the residential area and couldn't hide in any houses, their only option was to turn right and head into the mountains.
Mountain roads weren't suitable for driving; they would eventually have to abandon their vehicle and proceed on foot into the hills.
They were all trained for this; traversing mountain paths was within their capabilities. Before the police could fully encircle them, they could easily navigate through the forested area.
Then they could hide somewhere for a while until the police let down their guard before figuring out how to leave.
The leader quickly analyzed the situation and thought of a plan.
Just moments ago, encouraged by the leader and eager to test out his weapon's power, one young man became reluctant upon hearing about hiding in the mountains. "Boss, don't we have guns? We can fight our way out!"
The others in the vehicle chimed in agreement. "Yeah! Since capturing these guys, we haven't even used them! I've heard these things pack a punch! With just these people here, they're not enough for us to wipe out!"
The bandit aura on these people began to show. Mong Si remained in the same state as before, appearing indifferent.
The young man was annoyed by his demeanor and grabbed his collar, saying, "Let me tell you, don't celebrate too early. If we get stopped by these cops, the first one I'll take down is you!"
Mong Si ignored him.
The young man pointed his gun at him, but Mong Si did not move.
"You..."
"Enough!" The sound of police sirens grew closer; they needed to focus on dealing with the police rather than showing off to someone who posed no threat.
The leader stopped his subordinate's actions. Seeing the leader's serious expression, the young man dared not act recklessly and released Mong Si.
There was a moment of silence in the car, and others asked, "Boss, should we shoot?"
"Do you all want to go up against them?"
As the leader spoke, he glanced at the others in the vehicle.
The group clamored, "Boss, we’ve already taken their guns; if we don’t use them, why did we even bother?"
"That's right! We've already provoked them; we might as well fight back and show them our strength!"
"We're outlaws; we're not like them. If they come at us, if we blink an eye, we're cowards!"
They became increasingly excited, ready to roll up their sleeves for a fight.
Mong Si scoffed inwardly, thinking that this ragtag group had no idea how formidable the Chinese National Police were. With just a few guns among them, trying to escape from Hua Guo was less realistic than closing their eyes and taking a nap while dreaming!
To Mong Si's surprise, Zhu Junjie had actually become smarter this time, able to see that this Interpol was fake in such a short time!
"Boss, if you have any ideas, say them quickly! They're about to sandwich us!"
There was no room for hesitation! Just do it!
"Alright, as you all said, let's engage with them and test the waters." The leader looked outside; now that there were not many police officers around, they could attempt to break through. Once more of them gathered, it would become increasingly difficult to escape.
"Boss is mighty!"
A group of people in the car were fired up, eagerly waiting for the upcoming battle.
"I have something to remind you all: if we find ourselves at a disadvantage, we should retreat as much as possible and not fight them to the bitter end!"
"Boss, we haven't even faced them yet! Are you already doubting us?"
"I'm just leaving us an escape route. We're here to make money, not to see who can be more stubborn!" The leader had more experience than the others in the car; in his view, avoiding a direct confrontation with the police was the best outcome.
Now that the two groups had collided, with no way to retreat, they could only fight it out. They couldn't treat their lives lightly.
Once life was lost, no amount of money would matter!
"Boss is right! We listen to the boss!"
Someone echoed in agreement.
The leader turned to the driver and said, "Drive carefully. If things go south, take us into the mountains."
In the forest, they might have a final chance of survival.
"Understood!"
The driver gestured that he received the message.
After their discussion, the two police cars were now less than ten meters away from them. The police cars honked several times, and someone inside used a loudspeaker to announce the license plate number of the black van, instructing them to pull over for inspection.
Upon hearing the announcement from the loudspeaker, everyone immediately understood that the police were coming for them.
They exchanged glances; the youngest among them was the most impatient. He quickly rolled down his window, extended his gun outside, and leaned out of the car. He pulled the trigger twice at the pursuing police car, hitting its windshield with precision.
His actions shocked the driver of the car behind them.
Hai-City has very good public safety; it has been decades since anyone was shot at.
