Tie Zhu stood up from the ground, feeling a bit dazed as he looked around, his eyes filled with confusion. 0

Wang Shunliu placed his hands on Tie Zhu's shoulders and shook him vigorously: "Tie Zhu, are you okay?" 0

Tie Zhu turned back in a daze and shook his head: "Shunliu Brother, I'm fine, just a bit foggy in my head." 0

Wang Shunliu picked up the gun, checked that the weapon was fine, and patted Tie Zhu: "If you're okay, let's go! We need to change locations." 0

"Oh, okay!" Tie Zhu nodded woodenly and followed behind Wang Shunliu. 0

The scene outside had changed drastically; the recent massive explosion had destroyed more than half of the surrounding buildings. The house they had just taken across the street had collapsed completely due to the shockwave from the explosion. 0

The street looked as if it had been plowed; bricks were all overturned and scattered everywhere. 0

The Japanese artillery fire had passed, and the terrifying sound of shells piercing the air did not resound again. The surviving Kuomintang soldiers picked up their weapons once more and began to advance into the town. 0

In Luodian Town, somewhere. 0

The Regimental Staff got up from the ground and pulled up Hu Lian beside him: "Regimental Commander, are you okay?" 0

Hu Lian waved his hand to indicate he was fine: "How is the unit? Are there many casualties?" 0

"I don't know. The Japanese are targeting the outer positions we just captured and haven't bombed Luodian. The unit's casualties may not be significant, but there might be injuries left at the positions." 0

Hu Lian pounded on the wall beside him with frustration, gritting his teeth: "Those damned Japanese!" 0

"Regimental Commander, what should we do next? Are we still fighting for Luodian?" 0

"Yes, we fight fiercely. Are we just going to sit outside and take Japanese shells? How many units can we still contact?" 0

The staff shook his head: "I don't know. When we entered the town, we were behind our troops; we have no idea how things are going in front." 0

"Send out a guard company to check on the unit's casualties, and let the soldiers know to continue the attack. We must take Luodian!" 0

"Regimental Commander, what about your safety?" 0

Hu Lian picked up a rifle from the ground and tested it: "Leave me some bullets. If you want to kill me, Hu Lian, let's see if the Japanese have that capability! Go!" 0

"Yes, sir!" 0

The Kuomintang troops in the town were already in disarray. Soldiers couldn't find their units, and the Company Commander couldn't locate his soldiers. After the recent shelling, the morale of the entire unit had plummeted. 0

Some Kuomintang soldiers chose to continue their assault, while others hid in place waiting for new orders. 0

Luo Dian Town fell into a brief silence; there were no explosions, no gunfire. The Japanese soldiers and Kuomintang soldiers seemed to have vanished, creating an eerie quiet. 0

Tie Zhu and Wang Shunliu slowly walked along an unknown path. They had lost contact with their unit, and among the soldiers who had acted together just moments ago, only the two of them remained alive. 0

About twenty to thirty meters away from them was a crossroads where a figure in a yellowish uniform squatted motionless at the intersection. Tie Zhu lowered his voice and gently tapped Wang Shunliu: "Shunliu Brother, look!" 0

Wang Shunliu turned his head, carefully observed, then made a shushing gesture to Tie Zhu. He pulled out a bayonet from his waist: "Tie Zhu, stay behind me. I'll go up and take him out with my knife. You keep your aim steady. If I get discovered, you shoot immediately!" 0

Tie Zhu nodded to indicate he understood, raised his rifle, and aimed at the nearby Japanese soldier. 0

Wang Shunliu moved with very low footsteps, inching forward without making a sound. 0

The Japanese soldier seemed focused on something and did not notice what was happening behind him. Tie Zhu took about a minute to cover the short distance of twenty meters. 0

Standing half a meter behind the Japanese soldier, Tie Zhu lunged forward with the bayonet, stabbing it into the soldier's back. 0

"Ah!" A piercing scream echoed as the Japanese soldier felt the pain and tried to stand up. Wang Shunliu pulled out the bayonet and stabbed it again into the Japanese soldier's back, this time directly into his heart. 0

The entire process took less than two seconds; before the Japanese soldier could turn around, he was killed by Wang Shunliu. 0

At this moment, Wang Shunliu also saw what was happening here: another small Japanese soldier was staring at him in shock, holding something that looked like a wrench in his hand. In front of him was a machine gun that seemed to be under repair or disassembly. 0

Both reacted almost simultaneously. Wang Shunliu attempted to pull out the bayonet from the dying Japanese soldier's body while the small Japanese soldier charged at him. 0

Despite his small stature, the little Japanese soldier was quite strong. Using his momentum, he knocked down Wang Shunliu, who was taller than him by a head. The wrench swung directly toward Wang Shunliu's head. 0

Wang Shunliu raised both hands to block the attack, but he was too slow; the wrench struck his helmet directly. Wang Shunliu felt dizzy as darkness enveloped him, with little stars swirling around in his vision. 0

Japanese Wanting to continue attacking, a sudden gunshot echoed in the air. Tie Zhu saw Wang Shunliu take down a Japanese Soldier. Just as he put down his weapon and was about to rush over, he saw Wang Shunliu being pinned down by a Japanese. In a panic, Tie Zhu raised his gun and fired. 0

The bullet missed, failing to hit the Japanese Soldier, but the sudden gunfire startled the Japanese Soldier. 0

The Japanese Soldier turned around and saw a Chinese Soldier aiming at him with a gun. Panic set in immediately, and he got up and ran without caring about Wang Shunliu beneath him or the items left on the roadside. 0

After seeing the Japanese Soldier flee, Tie Zhu hurriedly ran to the Crossroads, glanced at Wang Shunliu lying on the ground, and noticed he was still breathing. He then aimed his gun at the escaping Japanese Soldier. 0

The Japanese Soldier was quite clever; he didn't run in a straight line but zigzagged instead. Tie Zhu, being a rookie with little shooting skill, struggled to aim properly. After a long time of trying, he randomly fired at the back of the Japanese Soldier, but still missed. The shot frightened the Japanese Soldier, who quickened his pace and vanished from Tie Zhu's sight like the wind. 0

Having scared off the Japanese Soldier, Tie Zhu quickly secured his gun: “Shunliu Brother, Shunliu Brother! Are you okay? Don't scare me!” 0

At that moment, Wang Shunliu felt a heavy blow to his head and was feeling dizzy. He sensed that Tie Zhu was calling for him and wanted to open his eyes to see, but his eyelids felt incredibly heavy, making it impossible to open them. He managed to lift his hand slightly, wanting to wave it to signal to Tie Zhu that he was fine, but as soon as he raised it, it fell weakly back down. 0

In a panic, Tie Zhu checked various parts of Wang Shunliu's body and sighed in relief when he found no wounds. He knew that Wang Shunliu had only been knocked out. He recalled when he was young and misbehaved by peeking at a widow bathing in their village; he had once been knocked out by his father for it too, but after resting for a while, everything was fine. 0

Gunshots rang out not far away as the Nationalist Army and the Japanese Soldiers clashed again. 0

Looking around, Tie Zhu realized they were at the Crossroads, which was very unsafe. Not knowing when Wang Shunliu would recover, he decided to find a hiding place. 0

Struggling slightly, he carried Wang Shunliu on his back and staggered into a nearby Small Building. 0
