Tie Zhu felt as if he had already died, but suddenly he felt someone patting him on the shoulder. 0

“Tie Zhu, what are you daydreaming about? Come over and lend a hand. We need to carry this Heavy Machine Gun downstairs together; this is my temporary command center.” 0

Tie Zhu opened his eyes and saw his Commander patting his shoulder. Tears suddenly streamed down his face: “Commander, I thought I was dead, shot dead by the Japanese.” 0

Hu Lian looked at Tie Zhu, whose face was already streaked with tears: “You rookie, what nonsense are you talking about? You're alive and well, what do you mean dead? Once this battle is over, I’ll reward you with two jin of good wine and make you a squad leader. You’ve done a great job capturing the Japanese Heavy Machine Gun. If it weren’t for your short time in service, I’d promote you to Platoon Leader!” 0

Tie Zhu was still in shock, standing there blankly. After hearing Hu Lian’s words, he nervously checked himself for bullet holes. Was it possible he was just too tired? Had he just had a dream? 0

Xu Staff Officer glanced at Tie Zhu and said with a smile, “Alright, Tie Zhu, come over. You’re fine; it’s probably just that since it’s your first time on the battlefield, the pressure was too much and caused some hallucinations. You’ll get used to it.” 0

“Oh, I see. Thank you, Xu Staff Officer. I think I might just be tired.” Tie Zhu nodded in confusion and walked over to the Machine Gun. The three of them struggled a bit to carry the Heavy Machine Gun downstairs and placed it in front of the Counter. 0

“Tie Zhu, you guard downstairs while Xu Staff Officer and I go upstairs. If anything happens, report to us immediately.” 0

“Oh, okay!” 0

Tie Zhu nodded and watched as Xu Staff Officer and Commander, who had just fired a signal flare, went up to the second floor. 0

What Commander had just said was exactly the same as what he had heard in his dream; not a single word had changed. 0

Tie Zhu’s mind was in chaos. Was what he experienced earlier a dream or something else? If it was a dream, why did it feel so real? His shoulder even throbbed slightly now, and Commander’s words hadn’t changed at all from his dream. 0

If it wasn’t a dream, then hadn’t he just died? Hadn’t he been shot dead by the Japanese? The Japanese, right, they would be coming soon. 0

Thinking of this, Tie Zhu quickly got up and moved several tables in front of him, exposing the Machine Gun, waiting seriously at the door for the Japanese to arrive, fully focused. 0

A few minutes later, faint footsteps could be heard at the entrance, the sound was very low, almost inaudible if one did not listen closely. 0

Tie Zhu felt extremely nervous; they were coming, finally coming. 0

Three Japanese Soldiers pushed open the door of the tavern and saw several tables placed in front of the Counter inside, with a Heavy Machine Gun protruding from the middle. They couldn't help but feel a surge of fear. 0

At this moment, Tie Zhu's mind was very clear; it was really them, just like in his dreams. The three Japanese Soldiers were there, with the shortest one in the middle and the tallest one on the left. 0

This time Tie Zhu did not hesitate; he directly pulled the trigger. The Heavy Machine Gun roared to life, and in an instant, bullets turned the three Japanese into a sieve. 0

This time Tie Zhu was not shot. After firing, he felt somewhat drained; it was terrifying, truly terrifying. Why could he see things from the future? Was what he just experienced really a dream? 0

Tie Zhu's mind began to race with thoughts, but his eyes remained fixed on the door, not daring to let his guard down for a moment. There should still be one Japanese Soldier left; in his dream, that was who killed him. 0

After a brief exchange of fire, silence returned to the surroundings. Footsteps could be heard from upstairs; it must be Commander and the others who had become alert upon hearing the gunfire. 0

Tie Zhu stared at the entrance for about a minute. The Japanese Soldier from his dream did not appear, and he let out a slight sigh of relief. So it really was just a dream after all; but what a coincidence! 0

Just as Tie Zhu relaxed for a moment, two Japanese Soldiers emerged from either side of the door. Each revealed only half of their bodies while holding two Grenades. After glancing at the situation inside, they threw the Grenades into the room in an elegant arc; one landed right next to Tie Zhu. 0

Tie Zhu was momentarily stunned. By the time he reacted, the two Japanese Soldiers at the door had already vanished from sight. 0

"Boom! Boom!" 0

After two loud explosions, Tie Zhu felt as if he was being torn apart by a tremendous force, and then he felt weightless, as if he had flown into the sky. 0

It hurt, really hurt; that feeling of his soul being ripped apart came over him once again. 0

Was this really death? This was Tie Zhu's last thought. 0

……………… 0

"Tie Zhu, what are you daydreaming about? Hurry up!" 0

Tie Zhu felt himself being pushed again and then opened his eyes. He was at the corner of the stairs on the second floor, feeling heavy in his hands. Turning around, he realized he was carrying Machine Gun down the stairs. 0

"Ah, oh, oh, Commander, I was a bit distracted." 0

Tie Zhu didn't dare to tell Commander about his experience; he felt he couldn't explain it himself. He also didn't understand whether he had been dreaming just now. Perhaps he was just too tired and had hallucinated, but why did the hallucination feel so real? Moreover, he could still feel the pain even though there wasn't a scratch on him. 0

Machine Gun was once again set up in front of the counter. Tie Zhu was somewhat distracted while listening to Hu Lian tell him: "Tie Zhu, you stay down here. Xu Staff Officer and I will go upstairs. If anything happens, let us know." 0

"Oh, okay." 0

As he settled in front of Machine Gun, Tie Zhu began to think—more accurately, he started to ponder. 0

Why did the Japanese Soldier in the first dream shoot him dead, while in the second dream the Japanese Soldier blew him up with a grenade? 0

After thinking for a few minutes, Tie Zhu couldn't figure it out. He calculated the time; the Japanese Soldiers should be arriving soon. Helping to arrange the table, Tie Zhu once again focused intently on sitting in front of Machine Gun, eagerly waiting for the Japanese to walk into his trap. 0

After a while, faint footsteps could be heard outside. This time, Tie Zhu was not the slightest bit nervous, like a seasoned veteran, steadily controlling the Machine Gun, his eyes fixed on the doorway. 0

"Creak!" 0

The sound of the door being pushed open came again, and three Japanese Soldiers appeared in Tie Zhu's sight once more. 0

Without any hesitation, as soon as the three Japanese Soldiers had a clear view of the situation inside, Tie Zhu turned them into a sieve with his Machine Gun. 0

Faint footsteps were heard from upstairs. The Commander and the others must have been alerted by the gunfire; there were likely at least two or more Japanese Soldiers lying in ambush at the door. 0

This time, Tie Zhu did not relax at all, still keeping a close watch on the doorway, his Machine Gun moving back and forth, aimed at both sides of the entrance. 0

About a minute later, two Japanese Soldiers revealed half of their bodies next to the entrance of the tavern, each holding a Grenade. 0

The moment the Japanese Soldiers exposed themselves, Tie Zhu opened fire. The left Japanese Soldier had just raised his hand when he was shot to pieces by Tie Zhu. As Tie Zhu adjusted his aim toward the other Japanese Soldier, that Soldier had already thrown in his Grenade. 0

"Boom!" 0

A loud explosion rang out. Tie Zhu was blown away once again; this time he managed to kill both Japanese Soldiers, but he himself was also killed by the Grenade. 0

It hurt; it still hurt... Perhaps this time he would really die for sure. 0
