The panicked Japanese soldiers did not notice the presence of the Kuomintang Soldier not far ahead; their attention was drawn to the Nationalist Army soldiers behind them. 0

“Ono-kun, should we find a building to hide in? At least we could take out a few Chinese Soldiers.” 0

“We don’t have much ammunition left. If we go into a building, we’ll be trapped and killed. Let’s look ahead and hope to find a place to hide.” 0

“Hey!” 0

“Ono-kun, let Taro down. You two help me lower him. I’ll stay back to hold off the China pursuers. You two hurry and retreat!” 0

The two Japanese Soldiers looked at each other. “Oshima-kun, we won’t leave you behind. We came to China together and promised to share both hardships and joys. We won’t abandon you!” 0

While the three Japanese Soldiers were in a dilemma, a bullet struck the ground near their feet. 0

“There are also Chinese troops ahead. What should we do, Ono-kun?” 0

Ono hid behind a pillar and assessed the situation behind them. “Taro, you and Oshima-kun stay back to cover us. I’ll take out the Chinese ahead. I estimate there’s only one of them; otherwise, they wouldn’t have only fired one shot!” 0

“Please be careful, Ono-kun!” 0

“Don’t worry; I’m a Sharpshooter!” 0

On the second floor of the restaurant, Wang Shunliu slapped his forehead in frustration. After aiming for so long at this distance, he still missed. If Shunliu Brother were here, he would have taken out one with each shot—three shots would have taken down three enemies! 0

Hu Lian had already led a group of people to catch up with the two Japanese Soldiers who were holding back. 0

Although the Japanese Soldiers were outnumbered, their marksmanship was precise, causing many Nationalist Army soldiers to hesitate to show themselves. Especially in this pursuit battle, the Kuomintang Soldiers suffered greatly; the Japanese Soldiers were just too accurate! 0

“Regimental Commander, what should we do? There are only three of them, and we have over ten people. Are we really afraid of them? Let's charge!” 0

Hu Lian shook his head. “There’s no need to let the soldiers go to their deaths. We’ll stay here and wait for the Japanese to show themselves. Not far ahead is the Temporary Command Post, where there are still many people. Once they hear the gunfire, they should coordinate with us. That will be enough!” 0

“But there are only three Japanese soldiers, and one of them is a Wounded Soldier. Is it really necessary? I could lead the soldiers in a charge and take them down!” The Second Battalion Commander looked at Hu Lian with reluctance, struggling to understand why they had to hide here when they could easily take them out. 0

Hu Lian patted his head. “You’re being foolish; don’t you realize that a soldier’s life is valuable? Just wait a moment; those few devils won’t escape!” 0

Second Floor of the Tavern 0

“Stay calm, stay calm!” 0

Tie Zhu kept reminding himself not to rush and to take it slow, just as Shunliu Brother had told him. 0

A Japanese Soldier appeared in Tie Zhu’s line of sight again, quickly moving from one pillar to another. 0

Tie Zhu patiently waited, fully focused and motionless at the window. 0

Downstairs, the Regimental Clerk had already gathered his things and hidden in various positions, preparing for battle. 0

“Xu Staff Officer, what’s the situation?” 0

“There are three Japanese Soldiers not far from us, along with one Wounded Soldier who seems to be pursued by our men. Everyone get ready; we’ll charge out soon and coordinate with our allies behind us to take them down!” 0

“Yes!” 0

Second Floor 0

Tie Zhu and the Japanese Soldier were testing each other's patience. Tie Zhu knew the position of the Japanese Soldier, but the Japanese Soldier had no idea, only aware that he was not far away. 0

"Here he comes!" 0

Tie Zhu felt a surge of excitement as the Japanese Soldier couldn't hold back and peeked out, stealthily observing the terrain in front of him. 0

"Bang!" 0

Tie Zhu gently pulled the trigger, and the bullet struck the post where the enemy was hiding, causing the Japanese Soldier to quickly retract his head. 0

Tie Zhu let out a somewhat arrogant sigh, slowly reloading his rifle and staying in place, waiting for the next opportunity. 0

Behind the Post 0

Kenta Ono silently calculated: "Among the two buildings across from me, it should be on the second floor. I still don't know the exact location; I need to scout further." 0

He took off his helmet and slowly extended it with the gun barrel pointed outward. 0

"Thud!" 0

A bullet directly hit Ono's helmet, causing him to shrink back slightly. 0

"Second floor across from us, direction is around ten o'clock!" 0

After confirming the location, Kenta Ono slowly stood up from the ground, leaning against the doorpost, tightly gripping the M38 Rifle in his hands, silently praying. 0

Turn around! 0

Kenta Ono mentally recited two numbers and turned from his hiding spot at the doorpost. His eyes quickly scanned the second floor, and sure enough, at the ten o'clock position by the window, he spotted a figure of a Chinese Soldier! 0

The action of raising his gun was incredibly swift; almost immediately after locking onto the target, Ono had already aimed his rifle! 0

A crisp gunshot rang out, but it was not just one shot; there were two. 0

Tie Zhu saw the Japanese Soldier flash out from his hiding spot at the doorpost, turning sideways to aim his gun in a certain direction. 0

Tie Zhu kept his gun aimed at the doorpost where the Japanese Soldier had been hiding. Upon seeing him appear, he quickly adjusted his aim and decisively pulled the trigger! 0

Kenta Ono's bullet struck and killed a Nationalist Army soldier. Before he could feel any joy, a bullet hit him in the chest. 0

"So there is more than one Chinese Soldier!" 0

This was Kenta Ono's last thought as he fell to the ground, his body twitching twice before he coughed up blood and breathed his last. 0

Tie Zhu retracted his gun and quickly ran downstairs. "Xu Staff Officer, I shot one Japanese Soldier; there should be two more. I'm going out to check; they probably haven't come this way. I'll see if I can cut off their retreat." 0

Xu Staff Officer nodded. "Be careful; these three Japanese Soldiers must have been chased by the Regimental Commander and are likely panicking. Watch out for a mutual destruction with the Japanese!" 0

"Understood, Xu Staff Officer. You all stay safe too!" 0

Tie Zhu finished speaking and slowly pushed open the door, carefully darting out from the house. 0

... 0

"Regimental Commander, there's gunfire. Should we rush over?" The Second Battalion Commander was still very excited, eager to act. Since the first shot was fired, he had been full of energy; if it weren't for Hu Lian holding him back, he would have rushed out already. 0

Hu Lian pulled him back forcefully: "Don't be hasty. You two should move over slowly and quietly. The Japanese Soldier should be distracted by the gunfire. Let's see if there's a chance to take them out!" 0

"Understood, Regimental Commander!" The two Nationalist Army soldiers slowly stood up, bending their bodies and cautiously making their way over. 0

Tie Zhu crossed the Crossroads very carefully, as there were still two Japanese Soldiers whose positions were unknown. 0

Just as he reached a spot not far from the Japanese Soldier he had just shot, Tie Zhu bent down a bit too low, causing a can of food tucked in his arms to fall to the ground. 0

As Tie Zhu bent down to pick up the can, a gunshot rang out nearby, and a bullet whizzed past above his head. 0

Tie Zhu picked up the can and quickly rolled into the doorway where the Japanese Soldier had been hiding, though his position was exactly opposite that of the Japanese Soldier. 0

"That was close!" 0

He patted his chest; if it hadn't been for the can falling to the ground just now, he might have already had his head blown off by the Japanese Soldier. 0
