"Another death!"
Tie Zhu sighed, now somewhat able to accept the fact that he was a "monster." It seemed that aside from not being able to die, he didn't have much in common with ordinary people; he still felt hunger when he couldn't eat enough and pain when he was injured.
Tie Zhu squatted on the ground, carefully pondering why he was different from ordinary people. He wasn't in a hurry to find that Japanese Soldier; having just guessed the location of the landmine, he was already certain of the Japanese Soldier's position. Now, he wanted to organize his thoughts and figure out whether he truly was a monster!
"It seems I had several strange dreams when I was young, dreams where I drowned or fell to my death. Those couldn't have just been dreams, could they?"
"But I don't have anything particularly special about me. No, no, something must be wrong. I remember what happened when I was nine years old. What did I do that year?"
Tie Zhu held his head and recalled events from when he was nine.
"That's right, I went up the mountain. I went to gather firewood, and I think I found something quite delicious—white and tender. What was that?"
After thinking for a long time, Tie Zhu couldn't remember what exactly he had eaten. He was now somewhat certain that the issues happening to him were related to that thing he had eaten as a child because after eating it, he had dreamed about dying two or three times. At the time, he hadn't paid much attention; if it weren't for the fact that he had died so many times today, he would have thought it was just a nightmare.
Putting aside his questions, Tie Zhu tightened his grip on his weapon and began to stealthily approach the ruined building where the enemy was hiding.
The process went very smoothly. With the experience from before, this time Tie Zhu moved with ease and quickly located the stairs of the small building.
"There’s a tripwire on the stairs; it should be tied with a thin string!"
Recalling how he had been blown up earlier, Tie Zhu fixed his gaze on the stairs, trying to find the culprit responsible for his recent demise.
"Here it is!"
Scanning carefully, halfway up the stairs, Tie Zhu found a thin string—very thin indeed. If he hadn't just been blown up here moments ago, he probably wouldn't have noticed it.
Slowly and cautiously ascending step by step, Tie Zhu lifted his foot over the thin string and continued to approach upstairs with care.
"There's another one here!"
Having learned from his previous mistake, Tie Zhu was extremely cautious this time. Even after crossing the first thin string, he still meticulously searched for more at the stairway entrance and indeed found another one at the corner.
Like a cat moving silently up the stairs, Tie Zhu cautiously raised his head to look at the second floor. Sure enough, there was a Japanese Soldier lying on the ground above, completely covered in black. If it weren't for his short legs splayed out revealing the dirt-colored military uniform at his crotch area, Tie Zhu might not have noticed him; his disguise was quite effective.
Tie Zhu pulled out his Bayonet from his waist and began to walk up the stairs, stepping lightly as if he were a ballet dancer, on tiptoe, making not a sound.
"Kill him, kill him with my own hands. It's too easy for him to die by a bullet!"
This was Tie Zhu's current thought. He had the opportunity to end the life of this Japanese Soldier with a single shot, but the hatred in his heart made Tie Zhu abandon the idea of using a gun to take his life. He had to personally slay his enemy and bring his head to Shunliu Brother for tribute!
The Japanese Sniper lay on the ground, still scanning the area in front of him. However, he suddenly felt someone watching him from behind; it was the instinct of a sniper, sensing danger approaching from behind.
"Someone's behind me!"
After this mental alert, he immediately got up, trying to pull out his pistol from his pocket, which was standard equipment for a Japanese Sniper—a Type A 14 pistol.
As he turned around, he saw a red-eyed Chinese Soldier lunging at him from behind, holding a Bayonet.
The Japanese Sniper did not panic. He stepped back two paces to create distance from the Chinese Soldier and then pulled the trigger.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Three crisp gunshots echoed in the Small Building as the 8mm bullets struck Tie Zhu with great force.
Tie Zhu spat blood; he had been shot three times by the Japanese Soldier. The powerful bullets pierced through his chest: "I... I will kill you!"
Even severely injured, Tie Zhu's eyes remained fixed on the Japanese Soldier, filled with murderous intent and unwillingness. Lying on the ground, he muttered to himself: "I will kill you; I will take my revenge!"
"Goodbye, China Mouse. You’ve made it this far without being blown up; that's impressive!"
After saying this, the Japanese Sniper pulled the trigger again, and a bullet struck Tie Zhu in the head.
"It hurts, it really hurts—like my soul is being torn apart!"
Tie Zhu opened his eyes once more; he was now at the bottom of a Ruined Building.
The pain had not yet faded. Sitting on the ground, Tie Zhu slowly began to recover as the pain gradually subsided.
"Why did he know I was behind him just now?" Sitting on the ground, Tie Zhu carefully recalled his earlier actions; there was nothing wrong with them. How could the Japanese Soldier have detected him?
After thinking for a while without any clues, Tie Zhu decided to try again. He had to personally kill this Japanese Soldier to feel satisfied.
The pain subsided, and Tie Zhu stood up from the ground. He once again crossed the first-floor hall, avoiding the two tripwires on the stairs. Tie Zhu appeared on the second floor once more, cautiously holding the Bayonet and carefully approaching from behind.
"Bang, bang, bang... bang!"
Once again, four crisp gunshots rang out, and Tie Zhu fell into a pool of blood, "dying" once more. He returned to the entrance again.
Tie Zhu sat helplessly on the ground. It seemed as if this Japanese Soldier had eyes in the back of his head; just as he was about to sneak up and stab him, the soldier reacted.
"How could he know I was coming? I didn't make any noise!"
After thinking for a long time, Tie Zhu suddenly recalled how pigs sensed danger when the butcher approached them with a knife in their village. The instincts of beasts are very sensitive!
"Could it be that these Little Devils are like beasts? Able to sense danger?"
Tie Zhu pondered for a moment and decided not to use the knife this time. The soul-rending pain of dying was unbearable for him, and he sat on the ground for a long time before slowly recovering.
Once again, he traversed through the first-floor hall and avoided the two tripwires on the stairs. Tie Zhu appeared on the second floor again.
This time, he did not fully ascend; instead, he exposed half of his body. The gun in his hand peeked through the gap in the staircase railing, slowly aiming at the Japanese Soldier. He was extremely excited, his fingers trembling slightly!
"Shunliu Brother, I'm going to avenge you!"
