The Dazzling New Star of the Heroes of the Martial World
Faced with Mengzi's life-threatening move, the Half-Dragon also gathered his true energy, fully channeling his power. The divine secret technique, Kang Long You Hui, first appeared in the mortal realm, instantly changing the color of the wind and clouds, dimming the sun and moon. A dragon of energy, twisting in the Cloud Sea, dove down with the force to level mountains and fill seas, colliding fiercely with Mengzi's Burning Both Jade and Stone technique. The three extreme moves met, causing the ground to crack for miles, dust rising everywhere; the energy shattered everything in its path, sending flying sand and stones. The Ten-Mile Pavilion was reduced to fragments, no longer existing. Mengzi, who fell to the ground, was blasted back several dozen feet by the force, while the Half-Dragon suffered severe internal injuries, spitting out several liters of fresh blood. Seeing this, the Half Lion Man immediately ordered the Half-Orc to retreat and quickly took away the Half-Dragon. Thus ended the battle at Ten-Mile Pavilion.
Just after the Half-Orc left, Liang Shanbo and other disciples of Confucius Academy rushed to where Mengzi lay on the ground. Liang Shanbo picked up the barely breathing Mengzi and asked, "Confucian Academy, what happened to you?"
At this moment, Mengzi could no longer speak and could only exchange glances with Liang Shanbo, seemingly conveying that the enmity among fellow disciples must not be forgotten and that the shame of Confucius Academy must be avenged. Liang Shanbo shed tears of sorrow; each drop fell onto Mengzi's face, bringing him a moment of warmth. Looking once more at this vast world, Mengzi departed from this life filled with regret, unwillingness, and sorrow.
Mengzi had spent his life pursuing lofty ideals with the goal of establishing a harmonious world but ultimately could not escape human emotions and conflicts. At this moment, he was filled with unfulfilled ambitions and bitterness; his grand wings were broken before they could even unfold. At that moment, someone cried out loudly in grief: "How regrettable it is that the learned and talented Mengzi has passed away! Today is the darkest day in martial arts; Mengzi, your death is pitiful and tragic but also heroic!" The mournful voice belonged to Yi Junsheng. The Martial Arts Community's Fan Buzhao remarked: "Oh Yi Junsheng, are you lamenting or mocking someone who has already died?"
Zhu Yingtai said: "Confucius Academy has fallen; I will not allow anyone to disrespect it." With that, she launched an attack at the weeping Yi Junsheng. The troublemaker Yi Junsheng immediately stopped crying and said: "Good people never receive good rewards; how foolish it is to cry so sadly! If Mengzi were still alive, he would surely be moved by my grief." Before Yi Junsheng could finish his lengthy speech, Zhu Yingtai's attack was already upon him. Yi Junsheng dodged while shouting: "Enchantress! Help me!"
After several exchanges, Yi Junsheng was knocked down by Zhu Yingtai. Dreamy Beauty then intervened to help Yi Junsheng by pushing Zhu Yingtai back and saying: "Right now, your most important task is to handle Mengzi's funeral affairs rather than engage in meaningless battles with White Face."
Zhu Yingtai angrily replied: "White Face, consider yourself lucky this time." She then took Mengzi's body back to the academy along with her fellow disciples from Confucius Academy. Members of the Martial Arts Community followed suit to prepare for mourning Mengzi. Yi Junsheng and Reverse Head also wanted to go along but were unfortunately rejected by Zhu Yingtai.
Bao Qing retreated from Martial Arts Tribunal with guards and arrived at Martial Bamboo Divine Domain seeking assistance from Yi Zhangzhi. At the same time, Huangfu Mingmo aimed to take advantage of this opportunity to eliminate Yi Zhangzhi and also came to Martial Bamboo Divine Domain. Yi Zhangzhi had returned from Snow Sea Human Bone Bridge and was enjoying tea in his courtyard when Bao Qing entered to see him while Huangfu Mingmo drew his sword to initiate conflict. A good pot of tea was wasted as it spilled on the ground; unable to tolerate it any longer, Yi Zhangzhi said: "Huangfu Mingmo, you have come here brazenly; if you do not leave my sight soon, my next move will be a death warrant from Yama King." Knowing Yi Zhangzhi's capabilities all too well and not wanting to meet a grim fate so easily, Huangfu Mingmo left Martial Bamboo Divine Domain in anger.
Bao Qing bowed respectfully to Yi Zhangzhi and said: "I apologize on behalf of Mr. Huangfu. I have come to Martial Bamboo Divine Domain seeking knowledge about Skeleton's immortality secret; please enlighten me."
Yi Zhangzhi replied: "I already knew at Snow Sea Human Bone Bridge that the new Bridge Master intends to target you; I did not expect his actions would be so swift. The Skeleton Army must have been controlled by magic; they have no consciousness themselves. After you shattered them, their magic was not dispelled so they can reassemble and continue attacking. My Magic Technique—Shatter Bones, Leave No Corpse—is specifically designed to exploit their bone weaknesses against magic; it is currently known as the only martial art capable of dealing with Skeleton Army. However, whether there are other methods or objects that can counteract my technique remains unknown. May I ask Chief Justice Bao whom you have offended? Why does the new Bridge Master at Snow Sea Human Bone Bridge want your life?"
Bao Qing responded: "As Iron-Faced Impartial Judge, how many heinous criminals have I tried? They see me as a thorn in their side and wish nothing more than my demise; I cannot even count how many I have offended. It seems I must personally confront the master of Snow Sea Human Bone Bridge now; I take my leave."
Yi Zhangzhi said, "I offer my condolences." After Yi Zhangzhi sent Bao Qing away, Yi Junsheng and Reverse Head returned to the Martial Bamboo Divine Domain to inform Yi Zhangzhi about Mengzi's tragic death at the hands of the Half-Dragon. Yi Zhangzhi sighed, "The martial world has lost another defender of justice."
Yi Junsheng asked, "I originally intended to go to the Confucius Academy to pay my respects to Mengzi, but I was stopped by that unwanted Zhu Yingtai. To express my sorrow, I must go to the Confucius Academy to commemorate the deceased Mengzi."
Reverse Head looked puzzled and said, "Mengzi is dead; do you really feel sad?"
Yi Junsheng turned his body to face Reverse Head, saying, "With your head turned around, there's no need to doubt my sincerity. The death of Mengzi brings me no benefit; of course, I must feel sad. Let's go; we need to prepare a gift to pay our respects to Mengzi." With that, Yi Junsheng dragged Reverse Head out of the Martial Bamboo Divine Domain.
Yi Zhangzhi remarked, "It seems I should also go pay my respects to this great Confucian Academy."
Inside the Confucius Academy, Liang Shanbo and others had set up the memorial hall for Mengzi. Many from the Martial Arts Community came to pay their respects at the memorial. Ouyang Xiu, Leader of the Poetry and Rhyme Sect, personally donned mourning attire for Mengzi, expressing his profound respect. This act earned him admiration from many in the Martial Arts Community. Fan Buzhao said, "Ouyang Zhangmen's gratitude is as clear as day; I believe that Mengzi, if aware in the afterlife, would surely be comforted."
Zhuge Kongming stepped forward to offer incense and pay his respects, saying, "Mengzi contributed greatly to the martial world throughout his life; he is indeed a model for us all. Now he has tragically died at the hands of the Half-Dragon, sacrificing himself before his grand ambitions could be realized. We younger generations must inherit your legacy and continue to contribute to the cause of Martial Arts Peace."
At that moment, a sound of weeping filled the air. The heart-wrenching cries made everyone turn to see who had arrived. It was Yi Junsheng, holding a gift box and leaning on a cane, tears streaming down his face as he slowly entered. Upon seeing the detestable Bai Lian Yi Jun Sheng, Zhu Yingtai immediately stepped forward to block his path, not allowing him to proceed. "White Face, leave this place at once; I don't need your fake sympathy here."
Yi Junsheng wiped his tears and said, "What do you mean by 'fake sympathy'? I am genuinely saddened by Mengzi's death; is it wrong for me to come here to pay my respects?"
Fan Buzhao warned, "Yi Junsheng, if you know what's good for you, leave quickly; otherwise, if you anger everyone at the Confucius Academy, you'll regret it." Before he could finish, Dreamy Beauty arrived to pay her respects. She bowed before Mengzi's memorial and said, "Mengzi, you did not heed my words back then, which led you to this fate. Now the Confucius Academy is no longer what it was; your vision of a harmonious world seems impossible now."
Hearing this, Liang Shanbo retorted, "Your words are misguided; while the Confucian Academy may be gone, we are still here. We will uphold its wishes and strive for a harmonious world."
Dreamy Beauty laughed heartily and said, "You few with your lowly skills and youthful naivety think you can establish a harmonious world? That is simply too laughable. You can't even avenge Mengzi, let alone create such a world!"
Liang Shanbo could only silently contemplate in front of Mengzi's memorial hall. At that moment, Yi Zhangzhi arrived at the scene. Dreamy Beauty approached Yi Zhangzhi and said, "It seems Mengzi still has quite a reputation, even you, a Martial Arts Celebrity, have come to pay your respects."
Yi Zhangzhi smiled wryly and replied, "I am a Martial Arts Celebrity, but merely a Wulin Public Enemy that everyone is hunting down. A public enemy can be considered a celebrity too."
Ouyang Xiu stepped forward to Yi Zhangzhi and said, "Previously, there was some misunderstanding regarding the Daoist. Please forgive us. Now, please allow the Daoist to pay respects to Mengzi." Yi Zhangzhi walked to the front of Mengzi's memorial hall, lit three incense sticks, bowed three times in memory of the deceased; then he moved behind the memorial hall to examine Mengzi's body. After carefully inspecting Mengzi's corpse, Yi Zhangzhi remarked, "Mengzi shows signs of extreme poison and characteristics of having taken life-burning drugs. As far as I know, Mengzi must have ingested the Seven-Day Ascension Pill, which means he only has seven days left to live from the day he took the medicine. It seems he had been planning to challenge Half-Dragon, but unfortunately, he succumbed to poisoning first."
Dreamy Beauty also came to look at Mengzi's body and said, "Mengzi's hair is disheveled, his meridians are swollen, and his skin shows abnormal veins; these are indeed characteristics of having taken the Seven-Day Ascension Pill. It appears that Mengzi, driven by hatred for his disciples, accepted his fate. It's no wonder; the once-thriving Confucius Academy now has only a handful of people left—how can that not evoke sorrow and anger?"
Hearing the words of Yi Zhangzhi and Dreamy Beauty, Liang Shanbo and the other disciples of the Confucius Academy felt deeply remorseful for not having noticed Mengzi's extreme actions in time. However, they blamed it all on the Half-Orc and the Half-Insect Man. After Mengzi's funeral, Liang Shanbo led all the disciples of the Confucius Academy to the stronghold of the Half-Orc, known as the Beast Den, intending to avenge Mengzi.
Meanwhile, Bao Qing arrived alone at the Snow Sea Human Bone Bridge, facing an unknown enemy. At that moment, a figure appeared—it's Skeleton, leading to another fierce battle. A voice echoed from beneath the bridge: "Bao Qing, after today, you will disappear forever from the Martial Arts Alliance."
Bao Qing: "Is that so? Do you have that capability?"
The conflict at the Snow Sea Human Bone Bridge reignited. Who could be the mysterious Bridge Master? Can he kill Bao Qing? Will Liang Shanbo and the other disciples of the Confucius Academy, seeking revenge for Mengzi, succeed at the stronghold of the Half-Orc, or will they suffer a similar fate at their hands?
