Turning his head to glance at the massive pit created when Chiyou broke the seal, Sun Zhe's eyes revealed a hint of complexity. He sighed softly and then turned to look at the listless Jingjing, a smile flickering at the corners of his mouth.
"Alright, let's leave this place."
Sun Zhe understood that Jingjing did not like this dark world. For the energetic creature, it was far too boring here; apart from the surging Demonic Energy, there was nothing else to capture its interest, unlike the vibrant world outside.
"Chirp... Chirp..."
As expected, upon hearing Sun Zhe's words, surprise lit up Jingjing's big eyes, and it immediately began to chirp joyfully. Its delicate body soared into the air, circling around Sun Zhe excitedly.
Sun Zhe smiled slightly and stepped forward toward the outskirts of the Evil Demon Sea. Now that the seal deep within the Evil Demon Sea had been broken by Chiyou, Sun Zhe no longer needed to worry about the sealing issue.
With each step on solid ground, Sun Zhe made his way toward the outer edges of the Evil Demon Sea. After flying for a while, Jingjing seemed to feel a bit tired and returned to perch on Sun Zhe's shoulder, gently dozing off.
Suddenly, a faint sound of footsteps reached Sun Zhe's ears. His steps faltered instantly, and a glimmer of vigilance flashed in his eyes. Before Chiyou broke the seal, the depths of the Evil Demon Sea were sealed tight; even a powerful figure like the Golden Thunder Elder could only break in by combining forces with four Thunder Giant Swords. At that time, only he and three others had entered; there couldn't have been anyone else. Of course, Chiyou's Power of the Soul didn't count as a person.
After Chiyou broke the seal, many appeared, but they were all powerful beings flying through Yukong, heading toward Chiyou and would naturally not linger here. Now that another person had appeared and was walking steadily, Sun Zhe couldn't help but feel wary.
"Could it be that Yin Yu Zhen Ren?"
Thinking of this, a cold glint flashed in Sun Zhe's eyes. Yin Yu Zhen Ren had half of his cultivation destroyed by Chiyou's punch and fled in disgrace. Logically, he should have found a place to hide by now. However, there are always exceptions; he might not play by the rules and could still be lingering here.
"He has half of his cultivation destroyed and is currently severely injured, while I am at my peak..."
A flash of black light appeared in his right hand as the North Star Blade manifested there. A trace of unmasked killing intent flickered in his eyes, though he managed to suppress all his murderous aura effectively. He slightly crouched down and fixed his gaze ahead, waiting for an opportunity to strike decisively.
"Who is hiding there? Do you intend to rob me?"
An aged voice rang in Sun Zhe's ears. Following that, a ragged old man appeared before him. Dressed in dirty and worn-out robes that seemed not to have been washed for months, with disheveled gray hair, he looked like a typical Ragged Old Man. He glanced indifferently at Sun Zhe and took a swig from a wine jug before casually calling out.
Not Yin Yu Zhen Ren!
Upon hearing this voice, Sun Zhe immediately recognized that although Yin Yu Zhen Ren was an ancient monster who had lived for who knows how long, his voice did not sound like this. However, upon seeing the man's appearance, Sun Zhe couldn't help but be taken aback for a moment, standing frozen for several seconds until Jingjing on his shoulder pecked him sharply, bringing him back to reality.
The old man was none other than the one who had taught him the Sword Technique at the Golden Thunder Sect!
"Sun Zhe pays his respects to you, senior!" Sun Zhe immediately sheathed his Long Sword, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes as he clasped his hands in greeting.
He still clearly remembered the scene from the Annual Festival night at the Xuan Lei Sect, and how the old man had taught him the Sword Technique, which had indeed helped him a lot. The old man was one of the few people he respected, and he never expected to encounter him here again.
"Pfft..."
The drink he had just swallowed spewed out instantly. The word "senior" startled the old man, who looked up again and seemed momentarily dazed, as if recalling who Sun Zhe was. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes; he hadn't expected that the person before him was Sun Zhe, a Cultivator from the Xuan Lei Sect back in the day.
"You... what are you doing here?"
Wiping the corner of his mouth with his sleeve nonchalantly, he stepped forward as if teleporting directly in front of Sun Zhe, staring at him with some surprise. As far as he knew, this place wasn't accessible to just anyone; even he had entered by sheer coincidence. Given Sun Zhe's cultivation level, it was clear he didn't have the qualifications to be here.
Thinking this, the old man couldn't help but scrutinize Sun Zhe again. But upon closer inspection, his surprise deepened; he never expected that Sun Zhe's cultivation had already reached the peak of the Realm of Thunder Sovereign, achieving the Great Perfection of Thunder Sovereign.
"How did your cultivation improve so quickly? Did you find some powerful backing or encounter a great opportunity?"
He clearly remembered that when he left the Xuan Lei Sect, Sun Zhe hadn't even reached Thunder Master. Now, in just over a year, Sun Zhe had jumped two major levels to reach Seven Star Thunder Sovereign. Even he couldn't help but show a hint of astonishment; after all, Sun Zhe was just a down-and-out nobody without any background.
"Heh heh, senior, you're asking so many questions at once; how am I supposed to answer..." Hearing so many questions, Sun Zhe forced a wry smile.
"Pah! Enough with this senior nonsense; just call me old man. It's been a while since we've seen each other; don't be so formal. Hurry up," the old man said with a frown, glaring at Sun Zhe with displeasure.
Sun Zhe smiled and didn't mind; he continued to explain,
"Actually, there wasn't much opportunity. Here's what happened: after you left the Xuan Lei Sect..."
With that, Sun Zhe recounted what had happened during this time. He didn't hide much except for a few secret matters and even told the old man about why he entered deep into the Evil Demon Sea and how Chiyou broke free from its seal.
"Indeed, Chiyou has come out. No wonder I felt a wave of Killing Intent spreading across this Evil Demon Sea as soon as I came out from there. The restrictions sealing this Evil Demon Sea have also been broken; only someone with such overwhelming power could do that. However, since your three souls and seven spirits only have Power of the Soul returning to your body, he's probably gone to unseal the other three souls and six spirits now. If all his three souls and seven spirits return to their rightful places, that demon god from back then may very well return."
At this point, the usually carefree old man revealed a serious expression, as if recalling something significant and showing a hint of concern.
"You came here because you were threatened by the Golden Thunder Elder? I haven't seen that old guy in years, and I never expected him to become so shameless, resorting to such bullying tactics. Don't worry, I'll make sure to help you settle this score when I have the time. Since you have nowhere else to go right now, why not stay with me for a while? With me around, no one can threaten you, not even if all of his Golden Thunder Sect members come; I'll protect you."
The old man raised his eyebrows and spoke boldly, seemingly not taking the vast Golden Thunder Sect seriously at all.
Sun Zhe initially didn't want to drag the old man into this, especially since he had enmity with the Golden Thunder Sect, and the quarter of the Divine Blade he obtained from Wanbingyuan would attract many people. However, seeing the old man's demeanor, Sun Zhe quickly realized he had underestimated him.
Sun Zhe's perception had improved significantly compared to before; he had encountered many experts. Based on his estimation, the old man was likely a top-tier powerhouse on par with the Golden Thunder Elder.
"Since you're so insistent, I won't refuse," Sun Zhe said with a slight smile, feeling no need to be polite. He was indeed tired after this period, and staying with the old man seemed like a good option.
"Haha... that's more like it! Let's go!"
Upon hearing Sun Zhe's response, a comforting smile immediately spread across the old man's wrinkled face. He pulled Sun Zhe with his right hand and stepped forward into the void, directly appearing in half-Void, flying away into the distance together with Sun Zhe.
