As they were suddenly exposed to the intense sunlight, both of them instinctively covered their eyes. At that moment, the long-angered San Chun moved; she quickly lunged forward, pinning Zhong Xue beneath her, while simultaneously pressing a bright dagger against his neck.
"Don't move," she whispered.
Zhong Xue glanced at the dagger, puzzled about where she had pulled it from. He had been taking the opportunity to check her body all this time, and of course, he could touch her, but he hadn’t discovered that she was hiding such a thing on her. He had provoked her earlier, partly out of emotion and partly to divert her attention so he could signal the people outside. Clearly, he had succeeded; they had found him, and now it seemed he had fallen into her hands again.
He sighed, "What do you want?"
San Chun shouted, "Tell your people to back off and clear a path."
Zhong Xue turned his head and saw Kazama standing outside with a dazed expression. He called out loudly, "Didn’t you hear what the lady said?"
Kazama quickly responded, barking at the soldiers behind him, "Everyone step aside; don’t block the way for the Lord and the lady."
The way he spoke made it sound as if they were just a couple going out for a picnic.
San Chun couldn’t help but smirk at being called 'lady.' Was she encountering a humorous human? She pulled Lord up and began to push him slowly outward.
The cave entrance was low, requiring them to duck their heads to pass through. Even so, the dagger in her hand never left his throat. Zhong Xue could only watch where he was going while glancing at his wife's hand out of the corner of his eye, fearing that one wrong move might sever his throat.
Although he believed she wouldn’t kill him, getting a cut on his face wouldn’t look good either.
Once outside the cave, they found themselves surrounded by people, most of whom were from the Wei Army.
San Chun looked around and noticed Young Master Rong was also present. She pretended to shout, "Who is the master here?"
Young Master Rong stepped forward, "I am indeed the one."
San Chun nodded, looking apologetic, "I sincerely apologize for intruding into the Young Master's Mansion. Please forgive us for this trespass." She meant to convey that they had entered secretly, without the owner's knowledge, to avoid being held accountable later.
Young Master Rong replied calmly, "It's no problem."
San Chun continued, "It would be best if you could prepare a carriage for us now; otherwise, this person will bleed five steps within your residence."
Young Master Rong glanced at Kazama, who nodded in agreement, and said, "That is acceptable, but please do not harm Lord Jun."
"Send a few more people with us to help drive the carriage."
"Alright." He casually pointed at a few individuals from the crowd, "You, you, you, and you go along."
The people he pointed out were exactly those she had placed there.
Young Master Rong acted quickly, and the carriage was soon ready. Kazama kept shooting him glances, complaining about his failure to delay the situation.
Young Master Rong smiled lightly, "The life of Lord Jun is the most important."
At that moment, Kazama felt a headache coming on because he dared not harm San Chun. He knew that even injuring her finger would not be forgiven by Lord Jun, but simply watching her take someone away was also unacceptable. Did it really come down to letting her take the person away?
He smiled and said, "Madam, let's discuss this matter. Even if you have some disagreements with Lord, there's no need to resort to such extreme measures."
He tried to confuse the situation, making others think it was just a couple having a quarrel, but Genius knew which couple would confront each other so sharply?
San Chun ignored him and pressed Zhong Xue to move outside.
They got into the carriage, which headed straight for City Gate.
On the way, Zhong Xue sighed lightly and said, "You can't get out. Why don't we have a good talk and find a solution?"
San Chun sneered, "It's too late. Unless you are willing to withdraw your troops, there's nothing to discuss."
Suddenly, Zhong Xue said, "Alright, I agree."
She was taken aback; how could he change his mind so quickly?
"What conditions do you want?"
"As you mentioned before, the Yan Kingdom will send troops to attack the Chu Kingdom."
"Anything else?"
"That's all."
She was surprised. "What made you change your mind when you were so adamant before?"
"You." He sighed softly, even doubting that this reason was very weak, but it was truly because of her.
Because he suddenly felt that she had too much energy with nowhere to vent it. Rather than using it on him, it would be better to expend some on the battlefield. Moreover, the most important point was that he didn't want to hurt her. She was too dangerous right now; he didn't know how many pairs of eyes were watching her or how many arrows were aimed at her. Not everyone in his group knew her, and not everyone was as obedient as Kazama. A slight mistake could potentially harm her. Therefore, he had to prepare for the worst; even if it meant giving up building the city, he could not afford to lose her.
San Chun felt a mix of emotions inside, staring blankly for a moment before softly saying, "Thank you, but you still need to come out of the city with me."
"Don't you trust me?"
She shook her head. "I need you to meet Yan Wang and finalize the contract."
Zhong Xue sighed. "Aren't you afraid we might end up fighting?" He and Uncle Qi had long been at odds, just like he was with Ji Xun; there was no telling if he might lose control and try to kill him.
San Chun took a deep breath. "Don't worry, I won't let him lay a finger on you while I'm here."
That was true; Uncle Qi had always listened to her. The key was whether she was willing to reveal her identity. He was willing to give up building the city for her, but he feared she wouldn't even be willing to make that small sacrifice.
Seeing him silent, she couldn't help but ask, "Is there something else?"
"There is."
"What is it?"
"Could you make your face look a bit uglier?" He raised an eyebrow; at least for now, he didn't want anyone to know she was San Chun.
San Chun obediently took out a bunch of items and started applying them to her face. It had been uncomfortable holding her breath in the fake cave, so she washed everything off. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been interested in teasing him with that incredibly ugly face of hers.
The carriage soon arrived at the city gate, and she finally completed her disguise. She still held the knife to his neck and shouted at the guards: "Open the city gate quickly, or else..."
Zhong Xue really disliked this scene; it tarnished his image as the commander of the Three Armies. However, to send her out of the city, this level of threat was necessary.
He ordered, "Open the city gate and let them pass."
Chengyang Jun was always decisive; no one in the Wei Army dared to question his words. With a loud rumble, the city gate opened, and they successfully exited the city.
For several days, Feng Cheng had been wanting to re-enter the city. On that day when San Chun could catch Chengyang Jun, he was still half-convinced. But having something was better than nothing; holding onto the thought of treating a dead horse as a live one, he kept wandering around the city gate. A few times he sent soldiers to request an audience with Lord Jun, only to be told, "Lord Jun is unavailable."
Given Chengyang Jun's arrogance, it was impossible for him not to meet him, especially since he noticed troops moving at the city gate from time to time. He vaguely felt that something might have happened. But what exactly was going on?
After patiently waiting for a while, he became somewhat restless. Just as he hesitated about whether to follow Pang Wan's suggestion to attack the city, he suddenly saw the city gate swing wide open. Immediately after, a carriage rushed out from inside, with San Chun standing on top shouting, "Move aside, move aside—"
Feng Cheng was startled and hurriedly jumped aside, watching as the carriage sped past him without even a greeting from its occupants.
He wiped off the dust splattered on his face and cursed inwardly; all his hard work waiting there had been in vain.
In fact, San Chun hadn't seen him at all. Who would expect a Governor to be squatting at the city gate? The carriage raced on until it stopped in front of the Yan Army camp.
Jumping down from the carriage, she shouted at the guards at the city gate: "Chengyang Jun has arrived—"
This voice is really effective; the soldier, who was still a bit dazed, immediately perked up and hurried inside to report. Before long, Pang Wan rushed over in a flurry. He thought he would see a grand procession with a full entourage of officials and soldiers, and had even specially summoned troops to stand ready.
However, when he saw just a solitary carriage before him, he was somewhat taken aback and asked after a moment, "Where is Chengyang Jun?"
To bolster Zhong Xue's presence, San Chun shouted again, "Chengyang Jun has arrived—"
At the same time, Zhong Xue elegantly descended from the carriage, showing no signs of the disarray or awkwardness that might have been expected.
Having clashed in battle before, Pang Wan recognized him. Seeing that it truly was Chengyang Jun who had arrived, his mouth dropped open in disbelief.
He ordered his soldiers, "Come here, bind him."
Zhong Xue smiled lightly, "Is this how the State of Yan treats its guests? This Lord has come to negotiate today; where is your king?"
Pang Wan was momentarily confused and didn't dare to act too recklessly. He quickly sent someone to the main tent to deliver a message.
Before long, a messenger came out shouting, "The king summons you."
Pang Wan hurriedly clasped his hands in salute, "Lord Jun, please come inside to speak."
Qi never expected Zhong Xue to come alone. To preserve his dignity, San Chun chose to remain silent and acted as if he had simply decided on a whim to visit the Yan Army camp. When Qi asked about it later, he merely said he encountered Lord Jun in the city and brought him here.
Uncle Qi was no fool; how could he possibly believe her nonsense? However, he also didn't think that Zhong Xue had been captured but assumed it was part of his scheme. So upon meeting him, he coldly asked, "What does Lord Jun intend to do?"
Zhong Xue did not wait for him to invite and found a cushion to sit on, looking like a familiar guest.
He looked at Uncle Qi and spoke, the air becoming a bit colder, "Let's talk about the matter of building the city."
Uncle Qi replied seriously, "How can Lord Jun give up on building the city?"
"Gather the Yan Soldiers to attack the State of Chu."
Uncle Qi sneered, "Does Lord Jun think everyone else is a fool? Relying on us to exhaust the military strength of Chu while Lord Jun reaps the benefits?"
Zhong Xue snorted lightly; this person really had a wild imagination. If he had thought this way from the beginning, why wait until after San Chun's various torments to change his mind?
"Whether you agree or not, just know that you can forget about building the city. In the future, it will only take a snap of the fingers for the Wei Army to occupy the capital of Yan. By the way, someone has already agreed to this matter."
Uncle Qi laughed heartily, "Lord Jun really knows how to joke. Does the matter of Yan still need others to decide?"
Zhong Xue glanced at the surrounding attendants and warriors. "This person may not be in charge of Yan, but if her name comes up, it will surely shock people; it's just that others cannot hear it."
