The man who was attacked felt a surge of anger inside and began to fight back, but his speed could not compare to Daniel's rapid-fire fireballs. He barely got a few feet away before being detonated by another fireball from Daniel.
The angry man shouted in frustration, but there was nothing he could do.
Even so, Daniel had drawn the attention of others. This was a battle between a Second-Level Apprentice and a Third-Level Apprentice, and it was surprising to see it unfold like this.
They all recognized the person fighting against Daniel; his name was Augustin. He wasn't particularly strong among Third-Level Apprentices, but he wasn't weak either. The fact that he was struggling against Daniel was truly astonishing.
Previously, they only knew that Daniel excelled at tutoring others and teaching public classroom knowledge. They never expected him to be equally formidable in combat.
Feeling his Mental Power rapidly depleting, Daniel soon found it reduced by half. He decided to withdraw while he still could and had no intention of truly fighting to the finish. Despite appearing to have the upper hand, Daniel knew that this was merely superficial; once his Mental Power was exhausted, he would be left vulnerable.
He pretended to falter, allowing Augustin's fireball to break through his defenses and reach him before detonating.
Just when victory seemed within reach for Augustin, he regained his spirits and fought back with all his might. At that moment, several members of the Law Enforcement Team in tactical gear rushed in from outside. The leader of the group saw the chaotic scene in the hall and turned pale with anger. He shouted, "What are you doing? Do you have no respect for the academy?"
Augustin shivered in fear; the academy had strict rules, and daring to fight here would have serious consequences.
However, when he saw a hint of joy on the face of the newcomer, he realized it was his brother, Augustus. Since it was him, there shouldn't be any major issues; perhaps he could shift all the blame onto Daniel.
"It was him who attacked first; I was just retaliating."
Upon hearing his brother's words, Augustus glanced at Daniel. "What do you have to say for yourself? How dare you fight in the Teaching Hall? You clearly have no respect for the academy. Seize him!"
Daniel elegantly performed a gentlemanly bow.
"This is not my fault; he disrespected Maxwell Mentor by speaking insolently and dared to insult our instructor. I only retaliated for the sake of my mentor's honor."
Augustin turned pale with fright and repeatedly said, "You are slandering me. When did I insult the mentor? Ask everyone here, how could I dare to insult the mentor?"
This statement garnered unanimous agreement from the crowd. They had not heard Augustin insult the mentor; otherwise, they would have already captured Augustin without needing Daniel to intervene.
As long as he was sent to the academy, he could at least become familiar in front of the mentor and casually receive some rewards.
"How could there be none? I stand here representing the mentor. You dare to speak nonsense during class, disrupting the order of the classroom. When did you ever regard the mentor? Do you even respect this podium? Look at what you've done to it!"
Augustin was momentarily speechless. He might not care about Daniel, but he absolutely could not disregard the mentor's face.
Daniel, however, deliberately twisted the meaning, turning what was merely related to Maxwell Mentor into an implication against all mentors, as if Augustin disrespected every single one of them. Pathetic! Even if he had ten times the courage, he wouldn't dare!
If he were to say such a thing, he would surely not know how he died.
Seeing that the situation was not right, Augustin stepped in to mediate. "Alright, alright, let's not drag the mentor into your conflict."
"Is this podium not sacred enough that anyone can recklessly destroy it?"
Augustin was dumbfounded; when did he imply that?
"Look at what he has burned this podium into. Shouldn't there be consequences for that? Or do you want to cover for him? Do you still regard the mentor?"
Augustin was left speechless. He realized that no matter what happened now, Daniel would pull it back to the mentor. Unfortunately, Augustin had indeed damaged the podium, and there were still traces left by the Fireball Spell, making it impossible to escape blame.
He could only glare fiercely at Daniel. "Both of you are to be taken away and thoroughly interrogated."
"I still need to represent Maxwell Mentor in class. Do you dare to arrest me? Is this how you show respect for the mentor?"
Augustin had no choice but to let them take Augustin away. He wanted him temporarily removed from this matter and would deal with it later. As for how it would be handled, that was not up to him to decide.
"Don't forget about the damaged desks and chairs on the podium. If no one compensates, the school won't let him off," Daniel shouted from behind.
Augustus felt a sense of frustration inside. "I know, someone will compensate."
Once everyone left, Daniel turned around with a smile, looking at the apprentices who were watching from around. "Alright, what are you all staring at? Get ready for class. I believe you are all good students, right?"
The surroundings fell silent as they quietly prepared to listen to the lecture. After this incident, they had witnessed Daniel's cunning side.
Initially, the two had ignored the academy's rules and fought in public, neither gaining any advantage. But what was the final outcome?
Even Augustus, whose brother was the captain of the Law Enforcement Team, ended up being tricked by Daniel like this. He was personally taken in by his brother and had to compensate for the academy's losses. They were not in a position to argue; it was better to keep a low profile and not stand out.
"I have some research on Anatomy. Since Maxwell Mentor asked me to teach, let me share my understanding of Anatomy. I'll explain dissection from another perspective. I wonder if anyone has ever encountered vivisection?..."
For some unknown reason, Flame Throne Wizard Academy focused on studying cadaver dissection and rarely saw vivisection. According to Daniel's understanding, it seemed that the mentors believed they should not yet be exposed to vivisection; only when their strength reached a certain level would it be taught.
However, Daniel didn't care about that; he prioritized his own benefits first.
So when Daniel mentioned vivisection, it caught everyone's attention; they hadn't expected that Anatomy could be understood in this way.
After one class, everyone felt it was very valuable.
"Lawrence, what do you think of his explanation?" a young man asked with a satisfied smile.
"Does it even need to be said? I never thought about performing vivisection. I will definitely try it when I get back."
"I also think his explanation was good. I didn't expect to understand dissection from this perspective; I must try it when I return and see how it differs from cadaver dissection. If there's another opportunity, I want to come and listen again."
The people nearby nodded in agreement.
Little did he know that his bad luck would come true. The next time it was Maxwell's turn to lecture, it turned out to be Daniel again.
This time, there were significantly fewer objections. Although many still believed that Maxwell was playing tricks, Daniel had gained considerable support after proposing vivisection in his last lecture. No one dared to cause trouble anymore.
Of course, Augustin being brought up by Daniel to establish authority was also an important reason.
Last time, Augustin had to compensate the academy with twenty-six Magic Stones. The items he destroyed weren't worth much, but who could forget that he was labeled as disrespectful to the mentor by Daniel? The bloody outcome made everyone think twice before acting recklessly.
After a few sessions, everyone knew that Maxwell had handed over what should have been his lecture to Daniel.
Initially, the attendance did drop a bit, but later on, people began to notice Daniel's profound knowledge, and the numbers gradually increased.
Especially since Daniel took his lectures seriously, which was unmatched by other mentors. Regardless of the circumstances, those mentors looked down on apprentices and taught according to their own ideas without considering whether the apprentices could understand or learn.
The comparison highlighted Daniel's abilities even more, raising his prestige within the school. After all, very few apprentices could conduct paid lectures.
Sometimes, certain mentors might let their apprentices take over a class, but it would only be for one or two sessions at most. Moreover, it would definitely be their best apprentice. Whether they could succeed was another matter; it was unlikely they could do so as well as Daniel. Just managing not to make a mess would be considered a success.
