Daniel placed his hand on the nearby tree, and when he lifted it, he found a thick wooden staff in his grasp, adorned with simple yet profound patterns. This was standard for the Minotaur Ritual, a totem pole. 0

Of course, this time it was not like the last time when he deceived the Minotaur Tribe with a mere facade that served no purpose. His communication with the High Priest was not in vain; he had at least learned a few simple spells, qualifying him as a Minotaur Priest. 0

Although the spells were not very powerful, they at least proved he was a Priest. 0

Determining the direction, he moved forward and soon came upon a village. It stood alone, composed entirely of low thatched huts. 0

After wandering outside for a while, Daniel finally caught sight of the villagers. 0

They were less than half his height, thin and frail, resembling a malnourished, hunched-over gorilla stripped of its fur. 0

Daniel was surprised to discover that this was actually a Caveman Tribe. 0

There were many races in the Underworld: Halflings, Troglodytes, Minotaurs, Dark Elves, and Cave Eyes, among others—so many that Daniel could not count them all. However, Troglodytes were universally recognized as the lowest race. 0

Even goblins would dare to rob merchant caravans, but Troglodytes lacked even the courage to defend their homes. Reports indicated that even when faced with goblins, Troglodytes would not resist and would allow them to plunder. This demonstrated just how lowly they were, reduced to mere servitude. 0

If it weren't for their decent agricultural skills and the protection of the Dark Elves, they might have faced extinction. 0

With such a poor race, it was no wonder all they had were low thatched huts; merely surviving was a luxury, let alone enjoying life. The protection from the Dark Elves was not unconditional. 0

In fact, in the chaotic Underworld, no race had any good intentions. The Dark Elves protected the Troglodytes simply because they valued their agricultural abilities and wanted them to grow enough food. 0

Without any resistance, the Troglodytes were burdened with an exorbitant tax rate. More than eighty percent of their harvest had to be given to the Dark Elves, leaving them with barely over ten percent to survive on. Every year countless Troglodytes starved to death. 0

In such circumstances, the Troglodytes evolved an impressive ability: they could barely survive on grass alone. 0

The poor Troglodytes worked tirelessly to grow food but could not even eat what they produced. 0

Daniel silently mourned for them before turning and carrying the totem pole into the tribe. 0

Even with the protection of the Dark Elves, the pitiful Troglodytes were only safeguarded from mass deaths. Passersby could demand food and drink from their tribe at any time; as long as there were no significant casualties, no one would care. 0

Noticing Daniel, one Troglodyte shouted out, and soon all the Troglodytes in the village rushed out and knelt beside him. One who appeared to be their leader knelt there and began chattering away in their language. 0

Daniel touched the horns on his head, as if it were a language from the ancient Alava Empire. This language was so obscure that even the Formal Wizard, known for his wisdom, did not know its name. 0

Fortunately, the library had records of it, and he copied it into a chip. This ensured he could communicate with the Caveman Tribe. 0

"Respected Minotaur Lord, may I ask what brings you to our tribe?" 0

"Prepare some food for me." 0

Daniel immediately asked for food. He had been tricked by his mentor and thrown into this place without any preparations, having barely eaten anything and was already starving. 0

"Of course, please rest assured, I will prepare it for you right away." 0

While they were preparing, Daniel managed to extract a lot of useful information from them. 0

Of course, don’t expect them to know which layer of the Underworld this was or any information about the distribution of surrounding forces. 0

Given their capabilities, merely surviving was a luxury. If it weren't for their strong reproductive abilities, even with the protection of the Dark Elf, the Troglodyte could have faced extinction. 0

Now, thanks to their extraordinary reproduction rate, the Troglodyte was the largest race in the Underworld, outnumbering all other races combined. 0

The problem was that for them, this was not a good ability; at least it gave other races more reasons to treat them as food. 0

Who else would they eat if not you when you reproduce so quickly? 0

In such circumstances, a consensus formed in the Underworld: when hungry, just ask the Troglodyte for food. If they dared not provide it, they would simply eat the Troglodyte. 0

After all, Troglodyte tasted decent—like chicken and quite crispy—not like goblins, which were sour and hard to swallow with a strange aftertaste. 0

Daniel noticed that there were no significant forces around this tribe. He realized this because the Caveman Tribe was merely a wild tribe without any protection from others. They rarely encountered passersby. 0

Soon, food was brought out: plates of cooked noodles and plenty of barbecued meat. It looked freshly grilled, with oil glistening on top and an enticing aroma wafting through the air. This made Daniel’s appetite soar as he ate heartily. 0

He keenly sensed the longing gazes from nearby Troglodyte, even the leader of the Troglodyte was drooling over these delicacies. 0

This further proved that such food was a rare treat for the Caveman Tribe, which made Daniel very satisfied. 0

Once he had eaten his fill, he spoke up, "Not bad; you’ve put in a lot of effort. I will be staying in the woods to the east for these days. You prepare food for me every time; rest assured, I will protect you." 0

Troglodyte's expression changed dramatically. Just as he was about to speak, Daniel had already left, leaving him to prepare with a bitter face. The food they had prepared this time was done with great effort, just to avoid offending Daniel and to ensure he would spare the tribe. 0

If Daniel were to stay here for a while, he would surely drain the tribe's resources. 0

Daniel arrived at a spot in the eastern forest and recalled the magic he knew. He then recited a spell, and as he did, the surrounding trees seemed to come alive, twisting around the central tree. Soon, a Treehouse formed over three meters above the ground. 0

Daniel stepped inside and continued modifying it with magic, ultimately creating an exquisite Treehouse. 0

Unlike ordinary apprentices who knew only a handful of spells, Daniel had recorded countless spells in his chip. 0

Although he had only learned a few commonly used ones, he could also temporarily learn and cast other spells when needed. 0

However, that was only with the chip's assistance; one shouldn't expect much effectiveness in battle. It would be good enough if he didn't fail. 0

Next, he used magic to create an Underground Laboratory beneath the ground before finally stopping. He had been heavily misled by his mentor; wanting to explore the Underworld required at least some preparation, yet he had been thrown in without any. Acting recklessly would likely lead to death rather than any rewards. 0

Thus, he planned to stay in the Caveman Tribe for a while, at least to master what he had previously learned. 0
