A Minotaur and a Raging Demon Bear were walking through the Passage, creating a very strange combination. Daniel and Bear Big were particularly at odds with each other.
In Bear Big's mind, the main desire was to break free from Daniel's control, and Daniel felt the same way. He understood that the Raging Demon Bear was merely a forcibly subdued slave, not someone who would share his intentions.
Therefore, he never considered that the Raging Demon Bear could be obedient; as long as it did not resist, that was enough for him.
He pretended not to notice the fierce glint in the Raging Demon Bear's eyes.
Instead, he directed Bear Big to walk ahead. If any problems arose, it would be Bear Big who took the hit first. This infuriated Bear Big, who stomped its feet and roared at him in frustration.
Daniel merely snapped his fingers, and Bear Big had no choice but to obediently walk in front. After all, Daniel held its leash; if it disobeyed, the Rending Spell awaited.
Suddenly, a piercing alert sounded from the chip. In Daniel's view, beneath where Bear Big had walked, a blinding red light appeared, flashing rapidly and indicating something unusual.
According to Daniel's chip settings, this signaled an attack powerful enough to annihilate him.
In this critical moment, Daniel activated all chip functions and sought a countermeasure in a fraction of a second.
This so-called fraction of a second is a feature of the chip. When a person is on the brink of life and death, their consciousness becomes extremely quick, allowing them to recall their life experiences in a very short time.
Based on this principle, the chip developed a function that could perform overloaded calculations in a short time to achieve maximum computational capacity. It mimicked this ability.
It could enable the chip to operate at high speed in an extremely short period, thus providing hundreds of times more thinking time than others within the same timeframe. This allowed for preemptive strategies against threats.
At this moment, using it proved to be quite effective.
It appeared on the ground, and even after Bear Big passed by, it still did not explode, which clearly indicated that this was a trap set up by someone, similar to a timed or otherwise configured explosive device.
Bear Big had tough skin and was hard to deal with. If the bomb exploded under its feet, it might only cause minor injuries.
However, an explosion occurring beneath his own feet was different; as a human, he did not possess strong defenses. Being hit by an explosion could very likely result in his immediate death.
Moreover, since the opponent had specifically set up an ambush, they must have been observing them for quite some time. They had already realized that Bear Big was merely his slave; if he died, Bear Big would not seek revenge for him and might even flee. This approach would be ineffective against Bear Big, and the trap would only be prepared for him.
Having discovered the trap, Daniel instinctively wanted to jump back to evade the attack, but then he remembered something.
Since the opponent had laid an ambush, they would surely be on guard. What if someone else discovered it?
Out of instinctive reaction, with Bear Big blocking the path ahead, he could only retreat.
What if there was also an ambush behind him?
This was quite possible.
Even the sides and above could potentially have traps set for other purposes, forming an Ambush situation.
The only escape route was forward.
After contemplating all these possibilities, not even a thousandth of a second had passed. Daniel made up his mind and commanded Bear Big with his thoughts.
"Lie down, get down."
Regardless of whether he understood or not, he directly used Hunter's Curse to make Bear Big lie on the ground and howl in agony.
Daniel then recited the incantation and cast Lightness Technique, leaping forward fiercely. At the moment Bear Big lay down, he soared over its head, while Flame Shield had already formed behind it.
"Boom boom boom!" A series of intense explosions erupted, causing the Passage to tremble, with countless clumps of dirt falling down, nearly obscuring the Passage.
With the dual protection of Flame Shield and the meat shield Bear Big, Daniel was unharmed. The only unfortunate one was Bear Big.
Its once-proud beautiful fur, which had just been turned to charcoal by Daniel, was now charred again shortly after.
"Who? Come out!"
Daniel shouted loudly, with a fireball flickering in his hand. He was genuinely angry; anyone ambushed would be furious.
A series of orderly footsteps approached from both sides of the Passage, revealing seven apprentices dressed in Wizard Robe.
The leader was an elderly man with a long white beard dragging on the ground, leaning on a Cane, his body thin and frail.
"Good Son, how did you see through my trap?"
He was puzzled. This trap could be considered an Ambush. How could someone escape without any precautions?
It should be noted that to target Daniel, he had set the weight range between one hundred to two hundred pounds; only when stepped on would the Explosive Scroll explode, shattering the opponent into pieces.
This avoided using the precious Explosive Scroll on the tough-skinned and thick-fleshed Raging Demon Bear.
To set up the Ambush, he placed Magic Arrays on both sides of the trap, which would activate just before the scrolls exploded, delaying the enemies and preventing them from escaping the blast radius.
Moreover, to ensure absolute certainty, he also set up Explosive Scrolls behind the trap to prevent the enemies from desperately breaking free and escaping the explosion, thus leading them into another blast zone.
This could be considered an Ambush trap, with dangers lurking everywhere, making it impossible for any enemy who stepped in to escape.
However, he did not expect that the opponent would not fall for it at all, which was truly incredible.
Daniel smiled coldly, not caring at all. He would not reveal that he had already seen through the trap in a fraction of a second using a chip and was searching for a countermeasure.
"Forget it, it doesn't matter to you. I don't believe you can escape."
Daniel carefully sensed their presence, and cold sweat immediately broke out. There were only seven of them: three in front and four behind. They seemed few in number but were very difficult to deal with.
The leading apprentice possessed the strength of a Third-Level Apprentice, while the other six were all Second-Level Apprentices. Moreover, they were all seasoned apprentices, just one step away from becoming Third-Level Apprentices.
Such strength was beyond Daniel's capability to handle; fortunately, they were all human. Daniel released his Minotaur transformation, revealing his human appearance. However, out of caution, he did not use his original face but instead took on the visage of a middle-aged man.
He smiled and said, "This is all a misunderstanding. I transformed into a Minotaur for convenience during my actions."
The leading apprentice snorted coldly. "So what? As an apprentice from the surface, if you dare to venture underground, you must be prepared to be discovered and killed."
"You are mistaken; I am an apprentice from underground."
The leading apprentice took out a Silver Plate and waved it at him. "Do you think I'm foolish? The aura from the surface is so thick; you have no defenses at all and expect to impersonate an underground apprentice."
This time, Daniel had nothing to say. Damn, they even have detection methods. Maxwell, you are really pushing it. You just threw me here without telling me anything, wanting my life directly.
"So you do have detection methods. I have nothing to say. But if you want to catch me, you..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a fireball flashed in Daniel's hand, and one by one, fireballs flew towards the seven people. The speed of the fireballs caught them completely off guard.
The seven of them didn't even have time to react before being hit by the fireballs. However, what surprised Daniel was the scene that unfolded.
Seven fireballs were launched; he targeted the leader first, a Third-Level Apprentice, followed by the two apprentices on either side of him and then the four apprentices behind.
Daniel didn't even finish his words before launching an attack, catching them completely unprepared.
Accompanied by the booming explosions of the fireballs, only three Wizard Apprentices had protective shields activated around them, shielding them inside.
The remaining four didn't even have shields and were directly hit by the fireballs. Two of them didn't make a sound and were instantly turned to charcoal, while the other two were severely injured; one had an arm blown off and lay on the ground screaming in pain.
Unfortunately for Daniel, the speed at which fireballs appeared in his hand was simply too fast, one after another, as if no incantation was needed at all.
