Arnold hurriedly crossed the Magma River and stepped onto solid ground. Not long after, he suddenly saw Daniel walking towards him. Confused, he asked, "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you not to come?" 0

"Oh, I was worried that you might run into trouble. How was it? Did you encounter the Flame Demon on the way?" 0

"No." 0

"That's good. I was really scared he would kill me. Under my watch, we still ended up with two dead and one injured; his combat power is truly impressive. It's a pity we're in the Magma Sea. If we were outside, I would definitely make him pay." 0

"Yeah, who would have thought he was this strong? What are you doing?" 0

While they were talking, Arnold had already passed Daniel and anxiously went to check the entrance. Just then, Daniel conjured fireballs in his hands and hurled them at the apprentice who had been following him. The apprentice didn't even have time to react before being turned to ash. 0

They had been in the Lava Secret Realm for quite some time, maintaining defensive spells all this while. Even Arnold was feeling the strain, let alone a Second-Level Wizard Apprentice. 0

So it was clear that the apprentice had removed his defensive spells after leaving Magma Lake, only to be caught off guard and killed in one blow. 0

Watching the last apprentice who had guarded Vita City with him die right in front of him drove Arnold nearly insane. 0

He suddenly realized that Daniel was clearly disguised as the Flame Demon, and he had no idea what he was planning by approaching him. Furious, he quickly began chanting a spell to attack Daniel. 0

"Hahaha." 0

Daniel didn't even bother to fight back; instead, he used magic to escape swiftly. Arnold chased after him for a while but couldn't catch up and had to return helplessly. Just as he left for a short distance, another powerful fireball came flying at him, forcing him to stop and defend. 0

However, after launching that fireball, Daniel fell silent. 0

Arnold hesitated for a moment before walking toward the entrance. By now, he had lost confidence in killing the Flame Demon and only sought to escape this den of evil quickly. 0

Just as he was about to let his guard down, a powerful fireball came flying at him, forcing him to stop and defend himself. This severely slowed his progress. 0

When he was only two or three miles away from the entrance, Arnold suddenly felt his communicator vibrate at his waist. He knew this meant another Wizard Apprentice had fallen; he had grown accustomed to this vibration since entering the secret realm. 0

Then, a series of rumblings came from the entrance. If he listened closely, he could clearly sense that they were caused by fire elemental magic and Lightning Witchcraft strikes. In just a few moments, the sounds faded away. 0

Arnold did not understand why this situation had arisen. He heightened his vigilance and slowly made his way toward the entrance. 0

As he turned a corner, Arnold suddenly saw Daniel approaching. Without thinking, he launched an Acid Splash attack. 0

Daniel dodged the attack but did not counter; instead, he evaded Arnold's assault and asked, "Who are you? Arnold or the Flame Demon?" 0

Arnold was taken aback, not understanding why the other party would ask such a thing. "What do you mean?" 0

"So you've encountered him too. At our last banquet, you gave me the Rabbit Girl and the Fox Girl; what were you like back then?" 0

Arnold was completely confused, not understanding why this Flame Demon, who had been lurking among them, would act this way. Was there something he didn't know? 0

"What do you mean?" 0

"Did you encounter a Flame Demon that transformed into my appearance? Did it ambush you?" 0

"How do you know?" 0

"I was just healing Enoch when I noticed you walking over alone. I was puzzled and asked why, and then the people following you were also killed. 0

Before I knew it, we had barely exchanged a few words when we were ambushed, and Enoch was killed as well. I never expected Flame Demon to be so treacherous, able to take on the appearance of others. 0

Arnold finally understood. Damn it, I sensed something was off. At first, Daniel was with Enoch, so how could he have gone alone to find them? It turned out to be Flame Demon in disguise. 0

So the vibrations on my communicator indicating someone was killed must have been Enoch being murdered. I saw Daniel repeatedly leaving messages on the communicator. 0

"Arnold, what's going on over there? Another one has died." 0

"Arnold, please respond if you hear me." 0

"You bastard, why did you kill Enoch?" 0

But now he wasn't even sure if he was facing Flame Demon or Daniel. After thinking for a moment, he took out the communicator and asked, "Daniel, is that really you in front of me?" 0

A voice quickly came through the communicator. "Yes, I'm right in front of you. You don't need to doubt." 0

Hearing Daniel's familiar voice, Arnold was in tears; it wasn't easy, but he finally saw someone from his side. 0

He felt like he had run into bad luck for eight lifetimes. All he wanted was to fulfill his duty of protecting Vita City, ambushing the Flame Demon from the ground. Who would have thought they would be so formidable? His subordinates were continuously killed, and he hadn't even seen a shadow of the enemy. Now he had no choice but to choose a path of exile. 0

"Where did you go, Flame Demon?" 0

"I don't know either, but now that we are together, it will be difficult—if not impossible—for him to kill us with his abilities. So he must be trying to obtain the Lava Heart." 0

"It’s impossible. The Lava Heart is guarded by three Fire Elemental Elders equivalent to Third-Level Wizard Apprentices. They won’t let anyone pass unless there’s an order from the Empire or a token from the wizard guarding Vita City." 0

Daniel slapped his forehead. "Oh no, we fell into his trap. He must have already rushed to Vita City to look for the token." 0

Arnold also considered this possibility, but he wasn't worried about the token falling into the enemy's hands. To successfully ambush the Flame Demon, he had already brought the token with him, which was now secured at his waist. 0

However, he was still anxious. As a Wizard Apprentice, he didn’t have any spatial items and could only carry a limited number of things. Most of the items he had collected over more than a hundred years were stored in a secret chamber in Vita City, except for a few of the most valuable ones that he kept on him. 0

If the enemy were to find them, wouldn’t all his hard work over the past century go to waste? He was preparing to defect from the Empire, and without this wealth, he would struggle to survive anywhere. 0

But before that, Arnold wasn’t planning to let Daniel off the hook. The numerous potions on him represented a significant income. 0

Even if he pushed all of this onto Daniel, claiming that he was pursuing him and delaying the Empire's bounty on himself, it would still be a good option for a smooth escape. 0

"No, we need to go back quickly. We cannot let him get the token." 0

As he approached Daniel, his face was filled with urgency, but his hand was already at his waist, ready to draw his Magical Items. A sharp knife that could nearly double his close combat ability. 0

Who would have thought that beneath his frail and aged appearance lay a melee wizard? 0

"Alright, let's head back now," Daniel said without any suspicion. 0

"Yes, we’re going back right now." 0

Feeling the cold gleam emanating from the Magical Items in his hand, Arnold revealed a cruel smile. 0

At that moment, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. Looking down, he saw a short sword embedded in his stomach, clearly the one belonging to Enoch. 0

He grasped the short sword tightly, feeling the power within him rapidly draining away, and couldn't help but ask, "What... what do you want to do?" 0

"Do what you want to do." 0

Daniel said calmly, applying force to the sword, twisting it in his abdomen, then forcefully slicing upward, completely eviscerating him. 0

Arnold exerted all his strength to block it, but there was no way to stop it. In the midst of the intense pain, he couldn't hinder Daniel's actions at all. 0

Holding his bleeding stomach, Arnold leaned against the cave wall, feeling immense regret for not having acted sooner. 0

"Why? Why do you want to kill me?" 0

"Naturally for the Lava Heart. Since you can lead others to ambush me, why shouldn't I be able to kill you?" 0

At this point, it was clear that even if the other party didn't know or guess that he was the Flame Demon, upon seeing Enoch's corpse, they would understand why he had to strike first. 0

"You originally had the same intention as I did; it seems I cannot spare you." 0
