After thinking for a moment, I jumped down from Bear Big's back and took off my backpack, rummaging through it to find a few potions.
"Wow," a fiery red vial was thrown into the air by Daniel, unfolding into a massive fire ring that surrounded Daniel and the others.
Then two more vials flew out, crashing against Daniel's shield and exploding with a loud bang, releasing magma-like substances that caused the temperature in the air to rise by dozens of degrees in an instant. Even Daniel found it hard to bear, let alone the five people at the center.
Seeing this, the five prepared to leave the fire ring; they weren't foolish enough to withstand what was clearly their opponent's trump card attack.
However, before they could escape, another potion smashed above them, and an invisible force of inertia appeared, causing their movements to slow down.
After using the confinement potion, Daniel revealed a slight smile as another light blue potion flew out. A massive gale erupted, swirling counterclockwise and concentrating the flames in the center.
A large number of fire tongues gathered towards the center, and an invisible pulling force caused the rising temperature around them to drop. A gigantic fire tornado emerged, resembling a fire dragon, fiercely scorching the five in the middle.
"Potion Combination Spell—Fire Dragon Descends."
With the help of chip detection, Daniel found that the power of this Fire Dragon Descends reached 04 degrees, far more powerful than an ordinary Third-Level Apprentice spell, almost reaching their trump card level. Daniel was very pleased with this and couldn't help but feel a bit relaxed.
However, Natalie, who had been fiercely attacking from the front without any sign of relaxation, intensified her assault and shouted without looking back, "What are you staring at? Hurry up and think of a way to escape."
What? Escape?
Daniel was somewhat puzzled; weren't they forcing their opponents into a corner? Why should they escape? Why not take this opportunity to eliminate them? The items these people carried would be quite a fortune.
"Hurry up, you idiot! You don't really think they have such little ability, do you? If it were that easy, they wouldn't have become Third-Level Apprentices."
Only then did Daniel realize that Wizard Apprentices could not be compared to Minotaur Commanders or Minotaur Priests; there was a vast difference between the two.
Minotaur Commander Don't be fooled by the Third-Level Apprentice's strength; that is merely combat power. As knights who rely on physical strength, they either win or lose—there's no middle ground. Once they find themselves at a disadvantage, it's difficult to turn the tide except through sheer effort.
However, Wizard Apprentice is different; no one knows what abilities they possess or what hidden cards they hold. Even when faced with absolute adversity, if pushed to their limits, they might reveal their trump cards and turn the tables, even achieving a direct counterattack.
When facing a Wizard Apprentice, one must never let their guard down. Some Wizard Apprentices can continue fighting even after sustaining fatal injuries. There are reports of individuals whose heads were severed yet still managed to engage in battle and ultimately escape.
As for those who die and are reborn as undead, many have spent hundreds of years honing their skills, only to seek revenge in the end.
Thus, pushing them into a corner is only temporary and does not signify true victory.
Realizing this, Daniel couldn't help but scold himself for being so foolish, forgetting such basic knowledge. He quickly directed Bear Big to charge forward while he began to chant a spell in preparation for casting magic.
The Fire Dragon descended but ultimately lost its magical support and gradually dissipated, revealing five figures who had sustained no injuries. Daniel's brow twitched.
The Fire Dragon was one of his most powerful abilities, specifically developed to deal with formidable foes. Yet against Daniel's group, it hadn't even managed to harm a single hair.
Layers of earth-based protective shields surrounded them—five layers in total, each encasing the next, interlocking yet subtly connected.
Natalie's Thunder Hell should have been able to dent their shields significantly, nearly shattering them.
However, against such defenses, it had no effect whatsoever.
A cruel smile crept across Daniel's lips. "Not bad at all; too bad it's useless against us. I thought we were just going out to hunt down some enemies, but I didn't expect to encounter the academy's favored children—two of them, no less. I didn't even realize it at first."
This was truly wonderful; the academy's favored children were registered with their mentor. If they could capture you, the rewards would be enough for them to advance to Formal Wizard.
As he gestured with his hands, the five layers of protective shields began to fade away one by one until only two layers remained encasing them.
However, these two layers of protective shields, due to their connection, are the most outstanding defensive Earth Element shields that Natalie cannot break through.
"Damn it, sis, you've really put me in a bind this time. Just let me escape, and I'll double your price," Natalie said, glaring fiercely at Daniel.
She regretted it immensely; she initially thought Daniel had only provoked a few ordinary apprentices. She never expected him to provoke five Third-Level Apprentices at once. What on earth did you, a Second-Level Apprentice, do to attract their ire?
Moreover, these five individuals clearly worked well together and were all using Earth Element Power, which had excellent defensive capabilities. If they were in an open area, she might have been able to find a way to escape. But now, she was trapped at the innermost part of the Passage, surrounded by thick layers of earth with no way to flee.
As the opponents regained their composure, Daniel directed the three individuals behind him to attack simultaneously, using the most basic Earth Spikes. This was the simplest and easiest technique to master within Earth Element Power and not particularly powerful. However, in their hands, it was different.
With all three attacking at once, spikes suddenly erupted from the ground, walls, and ceiling, aiming directly at the frontmost Bear Big.
Bear Big instinctively took two steps back, but the spikes surged forward one after another. They grew larger and larger; Bear Big couldn't escape in time and was pierced by the spikes.
In an instant, Bear Big's cries of agony filled the air as it struggled desperately to break free. If it weren't for its nature as a Magical Beast—tough-skinned and resilient with ample vitality—it wouldn't have been able to withstand even one attack.
Even so, it was severely injured. After finally escaping the range of the spikes, it was riddled with holes, blood gushing out uncontrollably. Its cries sounded weak as it hid at the back, no longer daring to move forward.
It was incapacitated in just one strike.
This was a Magical Beast known for its defense; this clearly demonstrated the strength of their offensive capabilities.
The three then turned their attention to Natalie and simultaneously raised their right hands with their staffs in unison. Their coordination was evident; they must have fought together countless times.
Noticing their gaze, Natalie felt a jolt of fear. Thunder Element attacks were indeed unmatched; that much was true. Their speed was also incredibly swift, but they inevitably lacked in defense.
Since even Bear Big had been taken down in one blow by them, she truly lacked confidence in withstanding their next attack.
She gritted her teeth and took off the necklace around her neck, which she had traded from another Wizard Apprentice for the Earth Spirit Pendant. As someone who preferred to attack enemies with powerful spells, this was one of her few defensive Magical Items and the strongest in terms of defense.
Inputting magical energy activated a yellowish-brown magical barrier that protected her and Daniel. As for Bear Big, she simply didn't have the energy to take care of him anymore.
Fortunately, the opponent's target had never been Bear Big.
Just as she finished setting up the protection, the enemy's attack arrived. It was still a series of earth spikes—simple and ordinary in their hands but incredibly fierce. They instantly overwhelmed the barrier, causing it to creak under pressure, but thankfully it held.
Feeling the Earth Spirit Pendant in her hand, Natalie noticed that its energy had instantly decreased by one-third. She felt anxious. If a few more attacks came, the Earth Spirit Pendant would run out of energy, and she would have to replenish it herself. By then, all her magic would be used to maintain the defense, leaving no room for counterattacks.
At that moment, Daniel suddenly experienced a surge of magical energy behind her, failed his spell, and spat out blood.
Natalie's anger flared; even at this critical moment, she couldn't help but turn around and scold him.
"You idiot! You can't even cast a spell properly. What use are you?"
"Just hold on! This is my first time using this spell too. If I succeed, we can escape."
Hearing him say that, although Natalie didn't know what spell he was trying to use, she could only grit her teeth and endure.
