Daniel took advantage of the hunt for the Earth Demon Bear to design the Magic Array used this time.
In such an intense battlefield, attempting to launch a magical attack on Daniel was out of the question. Did they really think he was a fool who would allow others to inscribe a Magic Array against them?
Meanwhile, Natalie had weaker Mental Power, insufficient offensive capability, and even poorer defense, making it difficult to maintain the Magic Array. The best choice was Reirfu.
He was strong enough to protect the Magic Array on the battlefield, preventing it from being damaged by enemies.
After thinking for a moment, he shouted to Reirfu, who was fiercely attacking in front of the shield, "Brother Reirfu, come over here for a moment; I need to talk to you."
However, after calling several times, Reirfu ignored him completely.
Daniel shook his head with a wry smile but felt helpless; after all, in Reirfu's eyes, he held no significant status.
After a while, seeing that Daniel indeed had something to discuss, Reirfu reluctantly retreated slowly.
Of course, while retreating, Reirfu did not forget to protect Natalie. He lowered his two shields, creating a massive protective barrier like two Tower Shields, shielding both of them in the middle, making it impossible for five people to break through with their attacks.
"What do you want, troublemaker?"
Daniel raised the corpse of the Earth Demon Bear and said, "It seems that defeating them with our abilities is nearly impossible. Therefore, I plan to use the Magic Array to assist in our attack. Can you temporarily protect this area so I can set up the Magic Array?"
Upon hearing this, Reirfu widened his eyes in disbelief and looked at him incredulously. "Can you really set up a Magic Array now?"
He could hardly believe his ears; practicing magic wasn't something that could be accomplished in a day or two. It required years of study and accumulation of sufficient knowledge and Mental Power to succeed.
In this process, every step was fraught with challenges. Not only was the growth of Mental Power slow like a turtle's pace, but other aspects were also quite difficult.
Magic, Pharmacology, Alchemy, and Magic Array, each required extreme precision and were hard to research. Achieving even minor accomplishments was very challenging.
Let alone setting up a Magic Array quickly on the battlefield; even without interference from others, creating a successful and usable Magic Array was extremely difficult and required many rare materials.
Now, Daniel had no precious materials in his hands, only a few corpses of Earth Demon Bears. It was very difficult to set up a qualified and usable Magic Array with such limited resources.
Moreover, they were currently in the midst of battle. Unless Daniel was foolish, he would not allow them to set up a Magic Array; they would undoubtedly try their best to obstruct him. Under pressure from multiple sides, the chances of success were almost zero.
Daniel nodded to indicate that he understood the difficulties, but he still insisted on setting it up.
Seeing this, Reirfu said, "Alright then, I'll let you give it a try. Mercy of the Earth."
With that, he stomped his foot, and the uneven ground beneath him rippled like water. When it settled down, a flat surface had formed, solid as rock and very hard to destroy.
Daniel traced his finger across it; with his current strength, even rock could be scratched, but the ground showed no signs of any marks.
At the same time, the two shields in his hands suddenly slammed down, kicking up a cloud of dust and instantly forming a yellow protective shield around him that firmly guarded an area of several meters.
No matter how the opponent's magical attacks struck it, they could only create ripples on the surface and could not break through at all.
Taking advantage of this moment, Daniel quickly used Wizard's Hand to grab four corpses of Earth Demon Bears while simultaneously drawing the Magic Array on the ground. With both tasks being performed at once, Daniel worked much faster and soon completed a Magic Array, nodding to indicate Reirfu should test its effectiveness.
Reirfu looked at him in shock, not expecting him to be so fast. With a skeptical attitude, he tried it out and immediately felt waves of power surging from the Magic Array into his body.
His body, which had felt weak due to prolonged attacks, felt much better as if crops parched from drought were being nourished by rainwater.
Raising his shield with both hands and grinning, he said, "What a refreshing feeling! You little bunnies have been attacking freely; come and try this move on me."
With a swift motion, he swung his hand, and the shield on his right flew forward like a spinning saw blade.
Seeing this, Daniel silently raised his staff and pointed it at the protective shield; the remaining four did the same. In an instant, the Five-in-One Shield appeared, greatly enhancing their defense.
The shield struck against it while spinning rapidly. The energy-based protective shield emitted creaking sounds as if it was about to shatter. Accompanied by the rapidly spinning shield, countless sparks flew out.
Daniel's expression changed. After fighting with Reirfu for some time, he was already familiar with this move but did not expect that after being amplified by the Magic Array, it had significantly improved to the point where even the protective shield was struggling to hold up.
Another shield flew in, and the protective barrier suddenly cracked open with a snap.
Natalie’s eyes lit up, and she instantly unleashed her ultimate move, Thunderfall. A thunderball formed in the air, and bolts of lightning struck down, engulfing the protective barrier in a sea of thunder.
Like the last straw that broke the camel's back, the barrier could no longer hold and shattered into countless fragments, disappearing into the air.
The two shields came crashing down, and Daniel's group simultaneously pointed their wands. But how could they withstand it? Their magical energy had already been depleted by more than half, and at this point, they could only slow down the shields momentarily before two of them were bisected by the shields. Accompanied by their tragic screams, blood flowed freely.
Seeing this, the remaining three had no intention of staying to fight to the death. They grabbed the injured two and directly burrowed underground, fleeing into the distance.
For them, capturing Daniel would indeed bring many benefits, but it was not worth risking their lives for it.
After all, this was the Underworld; there were plenty of reinforcements behind them. If they couldn't win this time, they could always come back with more people next time. They didn't believe that with help next time, Daniel would still be able to escape.
Reirfu tried desperately to stop them but couldn't keep them from leaving. However, his combat experience was extremely rich. In an instant, a light membrane enveloped Daniel and Natalie as they sank underground.
As Daniel's group pursued them, Daniel quickly sensed the difference.
The Earth Walking Technique he used was merely a form of witchcraft. Although it allowed him to traverse underground, it felt more like a human swimming in a swimsuit at the bottom of the sea—he faced tremendous resistance.
Reirfu was different; the ground in front of him parted like flowing water to either side. Occasionally stones appeared, but as long as they weren't massive boulders, he would simply crash through them. When he reached them, the stones would roll aside to make way for him. It appeared so natural, almost like a fish in water.
How could there be such a huge gap between them? Daniel could hardly believe it!
He never expected Reirfu to have such high affinity for earth magic. But thinking about it, it made sense; if he didn't have such a high affinity, how could he stand out among countless apprentices and become a Wizard Seed?
In this situation, Daniel's thoughts couldn't help but drift outward. Reirfu's Earth Walking Technique was truly remarkable; it might even surpass that of Jiu Liusun and Earthwalker from Journey to the West.
In his past life, he was born in the East and was very familiar with Eastern culture.
The Investiture of the Gods was one of the books he often read during that time; as for the television series, he had lost count of how many times he had watched it.
Back then, I was envious of the Earth Manipulation skills of Jiu Liusun and Earthwalker. If I could learn Earth Manipulation, there would be no place I couldn't go.
I could probably even stroll around the Federal Reserve. By then, I wouldn't have to worry about money.
The three quickly caught up with Daniel and used magic attacks from behind, driving them like rabbits, darting around in all directions but unable to escape the attacks.
However, Reirfu couldn't catch up with them either and could only use magic attacks, which didn't hurt them at all and were quite ineffective. Several times they got close but were shaken off.
Natalie was initially excited, directing the pursuit from behind, but seeing that they couldn't catch up, she said somewhat dejectedly, "Why don't we just let him escape?"
"That won't do. If we don't eliminate them now, what will we do when they regroup with reinforcements?"
"But this isn't working either. They are determined to escape; how can we pursue them?"
"How about I give it a try?" Daniel suggested.
"Can you do it?" The two looked at him with doubt.
"I think I can."
