After finishing his instructions to them, Daniel bid farewell and headed towards the academy.
As he rode the giant eagle and looked down from the sky, he noticed a rather strange situation. The great battle in the Wizarding World had a wide-reaching impact, yet it seemed to have little effect on ordinary humans.
Ordinary humans continued their lives as usual.
He quickly realized that this was merely a drill; how could a war spread so broadly? It was likely that under the deliberate protection of the Formal Wizards, those ordinary humans were completely unaware of the war's occurrence and it would not affect them.
Daniel felt frustrated by this but had no way to change it; after all, he was not a Formal Wizard and could not oppose their decisions.
After flying for an unknown amount of time on the giant eagle, Daniel finally arrived at Wizard Academy.
Suddenly, he saw a group of people waiting below to greet him, and he shivered. With his sharp eyesight, he recognized that among those standing below were not only his mentor and the academy's dean but also an astonishing eighteen other instructors, making up more than half of the academy's staff.
It was unusual for him to receive such a grand welcome upon his return, leaving him puzzled about what might be going on.
With a feeling of unease, he descended. Dean Cleveland warmly embraced him and said happily, "Junior, welcome back! How are you? I heard you achieved victory. What exactly happened?"
Daniel respectfully bowed and replied, "Thank you all for coming; I am at a loss for how to repay you."
He then explained the situation at the front lines to everyone. They were taken aback; although they had already learned about the circumstances through various means, hearing about such a favorable outcome excited them greatly.
This was a significant gain for most of the Six Great Wizard Towers. With Daniel defeating their coalition, all of it became wealth for Flame Throne Wizard Academy.
Considering this, the academy would have ample resources for a long time to come. This would allow them to train more Formal Wizards and potentially earn recognition from the Wizard Alliance, paving the way for further advancement.
Maxwell patted Daniel's shoulder with emotion and said, "Very good, I knew I didn't make a mistake in taking you as my apprentice. With you here, I will be the most famous mentor in the academy for many years. In the future, it won't be impossible for me to succeed the dean and become the new dean."
Daniel shook his head at these words. "I'm afraid I will disappoint you, mentor. I plan to apply for graduation in three years and become a Formal Wizard."
"Why? That can't be!"
The other mentors were shocked to hear this and couldn't help but ask out loud.
As long as Daniel remained a Wizard Apprentice, the Wizard Tower could rightfully stay at the academy. With this powerful asset, the academy could acquire countless resources, attract enough strong individuals, and become the most powerful Wizard Academy in this region, reaching the peak of the Flame Throne Wizard Academy and continuing to climb higher. They would also gain attention from the Rule Wizards behind the academy.
However, once he graduated, the Wizard Tower would become Daniel's private property and would inevitably leave with him, causing the academy to lose this powerful asset and halt its expansion.
Originally, according to their estimates, Daniel still needed to stay at the academy for several more years before officially graduating after thirty years of study as a Wizard Apprentice to become a Formal Wizard.
But who would have thought that Daniel wanted to graduate early? What were they supposed to do now? Losing this opportunity for expansion over several years meant there wouldn't be another chance like this in the future.
Daniel shook his head and explained, "I have no choice. My Mental Power has already reached 95 points. In three years, even if I can't reach 100 points as a Wizard Apprentice, I can achieve a value between 98 and 99. By then, I will have no room for improvement within the academy. Why waste three more years? What significance would that have for me?"
Everyone was astonished upon hearing this. They had taught at the academy for so many years and had seen all kinds of talents. Yet even among those talents, very few could reach over 90 points in Mental Power within just a few years; they had been carefully nurtured with hopes of bringing greater benefits to the academy.
But now Daniel had achieved a level of 95 points in Mental Power after just a few years of study, making those other talents feel inadequate. Compared to Daniel, those past talents seemed foolish.
Since he had reached such heights in such a short time, what reason did they have to keep Daniel at the academy any longer and waste his time?
Perhaps three years is just a brief period in the thousand-year lifespan of a Formal Wizard that can be easily squandered.
But Daniel was only twenty years old now; this was the most vital period of his life. Even if these mentors felt reluctant to let him go, they had no choice but to refrain from asking him to stay.
After a while, Cleveland suddenly laughed heartily, patting him on the shoulder, and said enthusiastically, "That's great! Since you want to graduate, why didn't you tell me earlier? I'll just inform the mentor to come and pick you up early. With a talented apprentice like you, the mentor will definitely be pleased."
"Thank you, senior," Daniel replied hesitantly.
"Of course! Now, you go back and prepare a bit. We'll discuss your reward. By the way..."
Cleveland hesitated for a moment, looking quite embarrassed, and quietly said to him, "Junior, you see, our academy isn't very wealthy. About that triple reward for Wizard Apprentice, can we negotiate a bit?"
Daniel was slightly taken aback but quickly understood. Originally, when a Wizard Seed accepted a mission, the rewards would be given at triple the rate as a privilege for Wizard Seeds, allowing them to have more resources to grow in the shortest time possible.
This was also a method prepared by the Wizard Alliance to cultivate Wizard Seeds.
However, he was now leading all the Wizard Apprentices of the academy, having defeated the siege of the Six Great Wizard Towers and secured countless resource points for the academy. This would benefit the academy for many years to come, making it one of the most powerful in this region of Wizard Academy.
Even within the entire Wizard Alliance, Flame Throne Wizard Academy was quite famous; it was known by everyone and its immense benefits left even Formal Wizards astonished.
So these people were preparing to backtrack and wanted to give him less reward.
Daniel initially did not want to agree; after all, it was his reward that he rightfully earned. It was his resource for advancing further after becoming a Formal Wizard—why should it be reduced? But after thinking it over, he still agreed.
These resources were provided by the academy and had nothing to do with those Formal Wizards; they were merely intermediaries and not their possessions.
Moreover, Maxwell was his mentor and even after he became a Formal Wizard, he would still be one of his closest friends. The relationship between them was incomparable to anyone else.
If one were to put it in perspective, they were like two very close brothers born of the same parents. They weren't biological brothers but were closer than biological brothers.
The academy's dean Cleveland was also his senior and would be his senior in the future as well. They studied under the same mentor, and their relationship was nearly as close as with Maxwell.
Other instructors, although not as close, still shared a special bond since he graduated from the Flame Throne Wizard Academy, and there would be many opportunities for future interactions.
Yet, even so, in the face of such a talented individual, one who was destined to become a Second-Level Wizard or a Third-Rank Wizard as long as he did not fall, so many were willing to risk offending him just to withhold his rewards.
Why was that?
Why were they doing this?
He was not a fool and quickly understood. The academy simply could not afford it; they did not have enough money to pay him his full reward. If they did not want to escalate the situation to the Wizard Alliance, they had no choice but to negotiate with him now and come to an agreement.
Otherwise, unless they were willing to dig into their own pockets to cover the shortfall, they had no other options.
Given this situation, Daniel would not make things difficult for them. Since the academy could not provide what he deserved, he might as well agree and let them owe him a favor. In the future, when they met again, they would surely remember his kindness.
So he said, "Alright, please discuss among yourselves regarding my reward; you can decide how much to give me."
Cleveland smiled gratefully, and Daniel returned to his room to rest amidst their respectful send-off.
