Just as he stepped out, three old men surrounded him, their gazes lewd and suggestive. They looked at Daniel and shouted, "You’re out so soon, can you handle it?"
Daniel felt both amused and exasperated. "Come on, you’re all adults; can’t you act your age? Don’t worry, I’m much better than you."
"I’m not bragging; I claim to be one day equals a year. How can you compare with me? Alright, buddy, now that you have the Companion Dragon Clan, your lifespan has greatly increased. Shouldn’t you learn Alchemy with us?"
"So soon? Shouldn’t we wait a bit?"
"Wait for what? Haven't you had enough fun? Do you want to get stuck in there?"
Daniel was speechless. Why were they so lewd? Couldn’t they speak properly? He could only remind Catherine and then went with the three to the Alchemy Workshop to learn Alchemy.
Acarlo immediately assigned Daniel some homework. He took out a design blueprint for a Sabre and said, "I’ve seen the Sabre you started to refine. Its basic capabilities are very solid. Now, continue with the Sabre; this is a design blueprint for a fine Sabre. Follow it to see if you can successfully refine it and show me what you're capable of."
Daniel agreed and took the blueprint. After glancing at it, he raised an eyebrow. Although it was also a Sabre, the two were not comparable. The one used in the competition was just an ordinary alchemical equipment; while it had some sharpness techniques, they were all very basic and not very effective.
This fine Sabre also had sharpness techniques, but the Magic Array was extremely complex and difficult to refine. However, its power was strong; it seemed to be designed for high-ranking officers.
Trying to refine it, Daniel kept his wits about him and didn’t go all out. With his abilities, refining this fine Sabre would be very easy, which would make him seem too extraordinary; it was better to keep a low profile.
Just as he was halfway through refining, Acarlo pointed at him and said, "What are you doing? I asked you to refine the Sabre to see your level; why aren’t you giving it your all?"
"I am already giving it my all."
"Bah, I'm not blind; I can see clearly."
Daniel had no choice but to give his all in alchemy. These three old men might be a bit arrogant in their demeanor, but when it comes to Alchemy, they truly have no words; they have reached the limits of what they can master. Even with his abilities, he could not hide his shortcomings in front of them.
There was no way around it; he had to give his all in alchemy. However, his abilities were simply too strong. The alchemical skills of the Wizarding World were not something the Dragon Rider World could compare to.
Daniel was also a standout in the Wizarding World; among his peers as a Wizard Apprentice, no one could compare to him.
Although he had never studied Alchemy under a Formal Wizard, he was still very strong. Just looking into the eyes of the three men, filled with the gaze of someone who had encountered an unparalleled treasure, sent chills down his spine.
If Daniel didn't know that the three were merely astonished by his alchemical talent and were genuinely pleased to have such a good apprentice whom they wanted to nurture to the fullest, he might have thought they had some peculiar habits.
Daniel knew this approach was not ideal, but he felt powerless. Even with their support, being a talent among talents was not an issue; the empire would be delighted to see someone like him emerge.
But given the current situation, he was heading towards becoming a prodigy, and not just any prodigy, but one that was hard for others to accept. He would inevitably face jealousy from others along the way.
There was no choice but to take it step by step. If things didn't work out, he would continue on the path of prodigies. As long as his progress far exceeded others' expectations and he left his enemies behind step by step, preventing them from even considering taking action against him would suffice.
Determined, Daniel began learning Alchemy from the three men. Despite their shortcomings in dealing with people—being so proud that they looked down on even dukes—they truly possessed real skills and had high-level research in Alchemy.
Daniel learned a lot from them, and by comparing it with knowledge from the Wizarding World, his alchemical abilities improved rapidly.
In just a few years, the three men felt as if there was nothing left to teach him. They called Daniel over and said earnestly, "Daniel, your talent in Alchemy is something we've never seen before; even we cannot compare. Now we have nothing left to teach you. What you lack now is merely experience. I will give you a workshop in the studio; you can study and research on your own."
"Thank you, teachers." Daniel said as he took his leave.
Over the past few years, he had really been stifled, always under the watchful eyes of the three of them, unable to do anything. Now he was finally free.
Daniel did not go to the studio prepared for him by the three but instead planned to head to the Beast Mountain Range. His excuse was that he wanted to revisit the place where he used to live, but in reality, it was Catherine's request. There was a rebel base there, and she intended to report some information she had gathered over the past two years.
After packing his things, Daniel stood still, looking at Catherine calmly.
Catherine glanced at him curiously and asked, "What are you looking at me for?"
Daniel shrugged. "I am a Dragon Knight. You can't expect me to walk there."
"What? You want to ride me? Don't even think about it."
The two immediately began to argue in the room. For the past two years, he had stayed in the Alchemist Workshop, not going anywhere else. Knowing Catherine's identity as a rebel, he had never dared to interfere with her.
He didn't expect that when he first asked her to fulfill her role as his mount, she would refuse outright.
As a proud Holy Dragon, a symbol of the dragon race's spirit, how could she be reduced to a human's mount? It took some effort for Catherine to agree.
Regardless, as a Dragon Knight, traveling far always meant riding on a dragon; it was unthinkable for him to walk alongside one. No matter how eccentric someone might be, they wouldn't do such a thing. If that were the case, it would clearly indicate something was wrong and attract attention.
One person and one dragon—one was an infiltrator from another world, and the other belonged to the Dragon Resistance Army. Their identities could not be exposed. Even for the sake of hiding their identities, he had to ride her.
Catherine stepped outside, and with a roar of dragon wings, the massive Silver Dragon appeared before Daniel. Its entire body was silver-white, radiating a faint silvery glow; it looked stunning.
Strapping on the dragon saddle, Daniel climbed aboard. With a whoosh, Catherine took off, nearly throwing him off balance. He quickly steadied himself as they soared towards the Beast Mountain Range.
Flying in the sky, one can occasionally see the dragons soaring above. Naturally, the most numerous are the Abyss Dragons. After flying for 1,000 miles, Daniel still did not see any dragons of the third tier, which shows that even in the Dragon Rider World, the upper-tier dragons are rare and not many in number.
Everyone who saw Daniel would bow to him from a distance and then avoid his path. If they couldn't dodge in time, they would be intimidated by Catherine's dragon aura; even the flying dragons would be so frightened that they might lose control, folding their wings tightly to show their utmost respect.
Catherine was quite interested in scaring them a bit. Daniel knew she wanted to vent her frustration; as a noble Holy Dragon, it was indeed a disgrace to be ridden by a lowly human.
Moreover, these dragons chose to abandon their noble status to become slaves to humans, helping them deal with other dragons. How could she not be angry?
However, the human race was currently too powerful to confront directly, so she could only vent her resentment in this way.
Daniel paid no attention to this and instead sat on her back thinking about how he should learn Alchemy in the future. Alchemy encompasses many aspects, such as Magical Items, Wizard Towers, and various types of war weapons.
It is divided into military and civilian applications; he couldn't possibly learn everything as that would be unrealistic. He had to choose one aspect to focus on.
Acarlo was skilled in designing and crafting alchemical tools. Among the remaining two, one specialized in weapon crafting while the other excelled in jewelry and fine items. What about him? Daniel looked at the Magic Core in his hand but ultimately couldn't make up his mind.
The Magic Core exists within magical beasts; it is a crystallization of their magical power. Once killed, it remains as a rare resource. After its magic is exhausted, one can extract some of its magic for replenishment, greatly enhancing combat capabilities.
The two landed on the outskirts of Beast Mountain Range, which is filled with countless magical beasts, many of which are equivalent to Formal Wizards.
Even among those equivalent to Third-Rank Wizards, Sanctum magical beasts are not uncommon. If they dared to fly recklessly inside, being caught and eaten would be the best outcome.
Confirming that there was no one around, the two donned black robes to conceal their identities and prevent recognition. Catherine signaled discreetly, and soon a petite flying dragon appeared before them. It glanced at them and communicated in dragon language.
"Envoy, please follow me. Is this the human slave you captured?"
Daniel was draped in a black cloak behind Catherine, raising an eyebrow without saying a word. When did I become a slave?
"None of your business, just lead the way."
Feilong dared not speak and led the way ahead. After an unknown amount of time, Daniel saw many places with the shadows of guards; the security was very tight. They finally arrived at a low cave.
"Envoy, this is the entrance to the base, please follow me."
With that, Feilong took the lead and squeezed inside. The two followed behind him, surprised to find that the entrance looked ordinary, but inside it was a different story. A massive space had been excavated, divided into several layers above and below, incredibly spacious. Inside, various colored pearls illuminated the base as if it were daytime.
An elderly man with a head full of golden hair came out. Upon seeing Catherine, he smiled and opened his arms, happily saying, "Catherine, my dear, you have finally returned. This is the human slave you signed a contract with; he doesn't look like much."
From the aura radiating from him, Daniel could tell that he was a Sanctum Dragon, specifically a Golden Dragon, with formidable combat strength. It would not be a problem for him to take on several Sanctum foes.
Unfortunately, as part of the resistance, they could only live in such dark places, evading the pursuit of the Ten Great Empires. Once captured by the empire, whether they could survive was uncertain.
