Xia Yingba's eyes held too many complex meanings, and Huxin remained silent upon seeing him.
"Yao Tai." Liu Yuren spoke in a low voice as he saw Yao Tai approaching him.
Yao Tai swiftly moved to Liu Yuren's side, politely nodding at Huxin, then leaned in to whisper a few words in Liu Yuren's ear.
Huxin sensed Liu Yuren's gaze sharpen slightly. Although she did not know what Yao Tai had said, she could vaguely guess from Liu Yuren's expression that the situation outside was not as simple and straightforward as they had imagined.

Huxin coldly observed the scene before her while Xia Yingba signaled her not to respond; they would wait and see how things unfolded.
The Queen, now dressed in new clothes, also appeared outside the Secret Prison. With ample light outside, Huxin finally noticed that both the Empress Dowager and the Queen seemed to have another layer of strange emotions in their eyes.
"Empress Dowager! You cannot let this filthy girl go! The Emperor's life is still in National Master's hands!"
"Shut up! Does this Empress Dowager need your interference? Who said National Master has taken the Emperor hostage? Someone! Slap the Queen!"
The Empress Dowager's expression changed abruptly as she called for her personal eunuch. The Queen wanted to say something more, but the eunuch summoned by the Empress Dowager clearly had martial skills. He swiftly restrained the Queen on both sides and took out a slapping board from his sleeve. The sound of slaps echoed as the Queen barely had time to explain or defend herself before her mouth was swollen and bloodied, her teeth flying everywhere.
The scene shocked the personal maidservants and eunuchs around the Queen, who all knelt on the ground in fear, staring at the suddenly furious Empress Dowager.

"Stop!"
Before the Empress Dowager could finish her sentence, Liu Yuren and Xuan Yuan Ling simultaneously spoke out to prevent her from taking action against anyone. Xia Yingba remained expressionless in place; he naturally cared for Huxin's safety but decided to observe how Liu Yuren and Xuan Yuan Ling would protect Huxin for now.
Their resolute stance only infuriated the Empress Dowager further.
Even Xuan Yuan Old King and Xia Yingba, who were extremely familiar with the Empress Dowager, found her behavior today strangely unfamiliar.
