Soon, they went downstairs and arrived at the first floor.
Before they even entered, they heard a crackling sound, followed by the mooing of cows.
Once they stepped inside, they discovered that the fragile walls and glass of the shops had been shattered. Two Mutant Cows were rampaging inside, and the ground was littered with numerous Zombie corpses, many of which were already mangled and being devoured by other Zombies!
Zombies eating their own kind!
This wasn’t surprising; sometimes humans eat humans too!
The two Mutant Cows charged wildly, one of them particularly ferocious, having knocked away countless Zombies. Their tough skin made them impervious to ordinary Zombies, not even a scratch on their resilient hides. These were no ordinary dairy cows; they were practically rhinos!
However, there were some terrifying Zombies as well, specifically the evolved Mutated Zombies.
For instance, one Mutated Zombie resembled a Licker and was incredibly fast. Its thick and sturdy claws were frightening enough to pierce through the hide of a Mutant Cow, causing blood to flow!
But in the next moment, the Mutant Cows crashed through three partition walls and five glass walls, smashing the Mutated Zombie into pieces.
Some of the Mutated Zombies were enormous. Whether it was due to the Source of Life or from consuming too many corpses of their kind, one stood nearly three meters tall and attempted to wrestle with a Mutant Cow. It was sent flying instead, crashing into a concrete wall with its horns, causing the wall to collapse. The giant Zombie was soon torn apart and devoured by other Zombies.
It was chaos!
"My goodness, these Mutant Cows are incredible! They just smashed through a concrete wall like it was nothing! If they really charged forward, they could probably knock over a heavy truck! Are these cows like tanks? Hmm, if they're this impressive, they must be delicious," Chen Letian muttered quietly.
"Chen Letian, if you want to eat one so badly, why don’t you go take one down yourself? What good is just talking?" Wei Luhe shot him a glare while weighing his two Semi-Automatic Pistols in his hands, thinking that even a handgun might not penetrate the hide of a Mutant Cow!
"Hehe, I don't have that ability, but our leader does! Let’s work together to help our leader take down these Zombies and Mutant Cows, and then I’ll prepare a three-day-and-three-night feast featuring all parts of the cow for you guys. I guarantee you'll forget all about the Full Sparrow Feast!" Chen Letian's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Shen Yuan did not speak.
The Claw of the Mutated Zombie could pierce the hide of Mutant Cows, so the activated handgun and Micro Submachine Gun could do the same. However, to take down such massive Mutant Cows, it was useless unless one hit vital spots like the brain or Heart.
Shen Yuan remembered a report he had seen before, where someone shot at a black bear with a handgun. After six shots, although the bear had several bullet holes in its body, it acted as if nothing had happened, simply swatting the shooter dead before walking away.
These two Mutant Cows were far more terrifying than any black bear; they were much stronger!
Moreover, there were more and more Mutated Zombies on the entire first floor.
Those Mutated Zombies were also difficult to deal with; some were even scarier than Licker. Killing them was truly challenging.
“Let’s wait for a suitable opportunity,” Shen Yuan whispered, then slowly retreated with the others to the Elevator Lobby.
A few Zombies caught the scent of living humans and charged over, but they were taken down one by one by Xu Lixing.
This guy was really impressive. After absorbing the Source of Life from the snow several times, his strength, speed, and reaction ability had improved again, making him stronger than Alice from the Resident Evil movies. Ordinary Zombies were no match for him.
Holding the Activated Engineering Shovel that Gavin had given him, he dispatched five Zombies in less than a minute, leaving Chen Letian dumbfounded.
“Wow, Xu Lixing, have you become a Super Saiyan? That's amazing! Sigh, it's infuriating how some people are so strong while I’m so weak!” Chen Letian sighed.
In fact, he was also quite strong, but his strength lay in defense and recovery.
He was nearly six feet tall and very muscular. Just two hours ago, he weighed in at a solid 190 pounds without looking fat because of his firm muscles and dense bones; he was quite… heavy on the scale.
He has grown taller and has become a bit sturdier, even his frame has changed, developing towards the direction of a meat shield. With limited ammunition, it’s best to conserve. For dealing with these not-so-scary Mutated Zombies, the Slingshot is sufficient.
There were only a few not very strong Mutated Zombies; they were not at the level of Lickers and were not difficult to handle.
Having absorbed the Source of Life so many times, Shen Yuan's current strength is almost comparable to those renowned boxers before the apocalypse, and his speed is no less than that of Olympic champions; he is agile.
His eyesight has recovered to an equivalent level, at least 5.2, and he doesn’t need glasses; passing a pilot exam would be no problem.

A steel ball shot out and instantly pierced through a Mutated Zombie's head. Then three more steel balls followed, blasting that Mutated Zombie's head apart.
Xu Lixing was even faster, directly using the Activated Engineering Shovel to decapitate a Mutated Zombie.
Wei Luhe moved quickly as well, wielding the Activated Tactical Dagger that Shen Yuan had given her. With unmatched agility, she approached and took down that Mutated Zombie without it ever being able to touch her.
Although Chen Letian was a qualified meat shield, this situation did not require him to step in yet.
I have to say, Shen Yuan and his team seized the opportunity for evolution and have not stopped, staying at the forefront of evolution. Aside from the terrifying creatures that were among the first to mutate due to Meteor Fragments, such as the Terrifying Giant Snake and some mutated humans reported globally, they are already considered one of the strongest groups of Evolvers!
Suddenly, the ground shook, accompanied by the continuous sound of shattering glass and crashing objects. A massive creature charged towards them!
“Not good! It's Mutant Cows!” Shen Yuan quickly said, “Hide!”
In the next moment, they opened the stairway door and swiftly ascended.
A second later, the Mutant Cows crashed into the wall, sending a giant Zombie crashing into it!
However, after such a violent impact, the Mutant Cows also seemed a bit overwhelmed, dizzy and unable to recover for several seconds.
“Attack it!”
Shen Yuan immediately raised the Activation of Micro Submachine Gun hanging on his chest and began to spray bullets at the Mutant Cows.
In an instant, all the bullets were expended. The head of the Mutant Cows was a mess, splattered with red and white. It struggled a few times on the spot before finally collapsing to the ground.
