Meeting with Major Xu Chengguang did not lead to any unexpected disputes; at least on the surface, this Major seemed very easy to talk to.
Taking advantage of the handshake, Shen Yuan discovered that Major Xu Chengguang was also a very powerful Evolver. The Source of Life within him, while not as strong as Guo Zuo's, was certainly comparable to Li Xinquan's, perhaps even slightly more.
One must admit that the military is indeed the military. Not only do they have sufficient firearms and ammunition, along with a complete set of combat configurations, but their combat quality is also far superior to that of ordinary people. They are disciplined and work well together, making it not difficult to hunt Mutant Beasts.
Unless they encounter Mutant Beasts of the caliber of the Terrifying Giant Snake, Golden Mane Lion, or Mutated Golden Eagle, a small group of three to five can be easily dealt with by a Third Special Forces Team; it really isn't hard!
Still, Pengcheng is an exception. The outbreak of rodent infestations and zombie waves was something even the military could not contain, ultimately forcing them to choose to leave.
One can imagine that in a world now filled with Mutant Beasts, the military can hunt numerous Mutant Beasts every day, ensuring they have meat for every meal and accelerating their evolution speed significantly.

Ling Jie, Zhou Wen, and a few other women would stay behind to accept military control in the shelter. They would earn rewards by completing post-disaster reconstruction tasks, which included firearms and ammunition among other supplies. However, compared to ordinary supplies, the tasks required were more numerous and difficult to accomplish.
Shen Yuan decided to rest here for a few days, turning in the excess Mutated Beast Meat and some non-essential supplies in exchange for firearms and ammunition before heading to Suicheng.
From what he learned from Major Xu Chengguang, although Suicheng was also devastated by the earthquake, there were more survivors there. Additionally, it was free from the rampant Mutant Mice and Zombies. They were currently undertaking comprehensive post-disaster reconstruction work with good progress. The military presence there was larger and had stronger overall capabilities, making it relatively safer.
Aside from leaving behind a few mutated geese, Shen Yuan and his group took out all their other Mutated Beast Meat and ultimately exchanged it for a large amount of ammunition.
The only disappointment for Shen Yuan was that the shelter was temporarily not allowing exchanges for Automatic Rifles, Sniper Rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, Machine Guns, Grenades, or Bombs. As for the reason behind this restriction, anyone could understand upon reflection.
Ultimately, there will still be regulation.
More powerful weapons cannot be owned by ordinary people; the only items that ordinary people are qualified to exchange for are basically limited to handguns, Tactical Daggers, camouflage uniforms, Bulletproof Vests, riot shields, and similar items.
For the sake of order, deterrence, and the absolute power and control of the troops.
The houses at Pengcheng Airport that have not been destroyed are no longer sufficient. Thousands of survivors have gathered here, and their numbers continue to increase. Between Pengcheng and Suicheng, there is only this one shelter, tasked with searching for and rescuing all survivors from dozens of nearby towns, which is a significant pressure.

The quality of the Military Truck is much better than the Box Truck that Shen Yuan is currently driving. This vehicle is specifically used to transport supplies, such as Mutated Beast Meat, Cookware, clothes, blankets, tents, and sleeping bags. The Box Truck is used to carry more expensive items, like firearms and ammunition.
If needed, the Box Truck can also serve as a safe base; it's quite nice to sleep inside.
After lunch, Wei Jiankang took Wei Luhe to find the officer responsible for issuing missions and accepted a task as a doctor to treat those who are injured or ill.
Chen Letian dragged Xu Lixing to move bricks... well, they went to participate in clearing rubble and building houses. The rewards for this task are limited. In fact, hunting Mutant Beasts yields the most rewards, but Chen Letian generally avoids dangerous tasks; he values his life very much.
The apocalypse acts as a magnifying glass that amplifies human nature.
In places without legal constraints, order is merely a laughable term; good people become better, bad people become worse, and selfish individuals become more selfish than ever.
However, once they reach a safe place like a shelter protected by troops, these people often find it easier to band together for warmth and enjoyment.
A scene of revitalization!
Throughout the afternoon and evening, Shen Yuan was busy revitalizing the cab of the Military Truck—its bodywork, glass, and tires.
A peaceful night passed.
They stayed here for three whole days.
At six o'clock on the evening of April 14, good news arrived:
The troops from Pengcheng Airport Shelter and Suicheng finally joined forces to clear National Route 104. Major Xu Chengguang received orders to organize troops to escort the first batch of survivors to Suicheng, while also issuing a mission to invite sufficiently powerful Evolvers to assist with the escort.
Shen Yuan represented their small team and accepted the mission.
At eight o'clock the next morning, the Third Special Forces Team from Pengcheng Airport Shelter was ordered to escort over two hundred survivors to Suicheng, with more than twenty Evolvers accepting the mission.
Two Military Vehicles carried the two Third Special Forces Teams in front and behind, followed by over twenty various cars, vans, buses, and trucks, all heading towards Suicheng.
Such a formidable formation naturally deterred ordinary mutated beasts. Even those relatively powerful Mutant Beasts, such as a three-meter-tall Mutated Wild Boar and a Mutated Owl soaring in the sky, chose to leave after following for ten minutes.
However, when they were less than ten kilometers from Suicheng, an unexpected incident occurred.
An arrogant Evolver, wanting to make some quick money, shot down a passing Mutated Duck.
Then, two or three hundred Mutated White Ducks, each over a meter tall, flapped their wings and flew over.
It was an overwhelming sight!
