What are the rules?
The rules are the tools used by the higher-ups to govern ordinary people!
In the entire Suicheng, at the very top are the troops. In the southern part of the city, aside from the troops, the acknowledged higher-up is Bao Ye.
Shen Yuan first eliminated Tiger Brother, and then achieved a small victory over Han the Great, proving his strength. Thus, he has already become a higher-up second only to Bao Ye, naturally qualifying him to influence the rules!
In the Spring and Autumn period, rituals did not apply to commoners, and punishments did not extend to nobles.
In today's context, the rules no longer affect Shen Yuan!
Even Bao Ye, upon seeing Shen Yuan's strength, would not do anything to him because Shen Yuan has reason on his side; it was Han the Great who acted first, so it doesn't matter if he goes a little overboard in response.
To put it shamelessly, this is called "self-defense retaliation"!
His display of strength instead earns him recognition from Bao Ye and respect from other leaders.
If he were to be submissive and act as if he could downplay major issues and trivialize minor ones, he would only be looked down upon!
In the end, Bao Ye nodded at Shen Yuan, acknowledging him. Although from Shen Yuan's perspective, he didn't need such acknowledgment. He knows his true strength, and that is the greatest recognition for him.
Han the Great was furious.
With his strength, he certainly could not sit at the bottom of the hierarchy; ultimately, Boss Luo voluntarily gave up his position for Han the Great, moving to sit in second-to-last place.
After this conflict, everyone's gaze towards Shen Yuan changed.
The strength of Shen Yuan amazed them, and his courage and spirit commanded even more respect.
Now, Ning finally recognized Shen Yuan as his equal, and the other leaders also understood: Tiger Brother had truly been replaced by Shen Yuan, and Shen Yuan's current authority and power were even more respected and feared than those of the former Tiger Brother.
Most importantly, Bao Ye acknowledged Shen Yuan, which meant they all had to recognize him as well.
A few minutes later, a man who looked about forty years old and appeared honest and simple finally arrived carrying a burlap sack.
"Sorry, sorry! I just got here! Dongxi Village is too far away, I rushed over as fast as I could, please don't hold it against me!" He had a silly grin on his face, looking honest and straightforward, but no one would underestimate him.
He was the last of the eight leaders, Jiang the Great.
He was a farmer from Dongxi Village, who used to grow greenhouse vegetables before the apocalypse.
When the apocalypse struck, an Apophis Fragment fell into his greenhouse, resulting in not only the vegetables inside mutating and evolving but also him evolving.
It is said that his abilities are related to plants.
Although he sat at the end of the table, his strength was not weak; he simply did not compete with others due to his honest nature, which is why he occupied the last position.
If you think about it carefully, it becomes clear.
In the apocalypse, where are Mutant Beasts most prevalent?
In rural areas!
Chickens, ducks, fish, geese, cows, sheep, pigs, dogs, cats—there are even rabbits and pigeons—all of them exist in large numbers, often in dozens or even hundreds.
In such an environment, being able to live well and even shelter the survivors of a village, becoming the one with the most subordinates among all the bosses, speaks volumes about his strength!
Some even speculate that Jiang the Great's strength might not be the weakest but rather the strongest! Many have noticed that even Bao Ye treats Jiang the Great with kindness and places great importance on him.
"Alright, everyone is here, let's start the trading. The rules are clear to everyone: it's an on-site transaction, cash for goods! Who wants to go first?" Bao Ye glanced at everyone and said.
The several bosses looked at each other, unwilling to be the first to showcase their goods. Since this was the first time the black market was operating, they had no idea about specific prices and could only feel their way through, relying on intuition.
"Heh heh, all of you must have good stuff in hand. Since I'm doing the worst here, I'll take the lead!"
Yang the Boss chuckled and clapped his hands. A few of his subordinates brought up a large pile of items from a car parked downstairs and placed them on the table.
A mutated white sheep nearly two meters tall!
There were also a box of liquor, several bags of rice and flour, a few barrels of oil, and various other items, filling the entire table.
Boss Luo had just been frustrated and probably wanted to assert his presence. He slammed the table and shouted loudly, "Yang the Boss! What kind of junk are you bringing? These things can be found at any stall down there. Who asked you to bring this here? If you have nothing good, just go play somewhere else; we don't need your trash here!"
Yang the Boss showed no fear towards Boss Luo and chuckled, "How can I compare with you, Boss Luo? It's just that I don't have anything good on hand! You all probably know that I only have a few guns left and I'm short on bullets. Let's see how many guns and bullets you can offer; if it's reasonable, I'll sell!"
Boss Luo sneered, "Want guns? We don't even have enough for ourselves; let alone bullets! Why don't you ask Bao Ye and Ning? They are the only ones who might have spare guns and bullets."
Bao Ye, in his forties, exuded an aura of authority without anger. He looked at Yang the Boss and shook his head, saying, "I don't have many guns either; with so many people under me, it's just enough for use. You need to ask Aning about this."
Yang the Boss quickly turned to Ning, who nodded and said, "One Semi-Automatic Pistol, three Revolvers, a total of 500 corresponding bullets. Don't try to haggle with me; either accept it or forget it!"
Yang the Boss frowned tightly; clearly, Ning's offer was below his expectations.
However, seeing that no one else had expressed anything, after hesitating for a moment, he could only nod and say, "Alright! This time, let's consider Ning as a friend!"
Ning nodded, and someone behind him brought over a box, placing it on the table. From it, they took out the corresponding firearms and ammunition and placed them in front of Yang the Boss, then moved away Yang the Boss's items.
Ten minutes later, the table was cleared.
Ning's box remained open, filled with firearms and ammunition that made anyone who saw it envious!
Shen Yuan knew that the rumors were true; Ning indeed had connections. These firearms and ammunition might have been sourced from police or military arsenals!
It was truly enviable!
After the transaction was completed, Yang the Boss visibly let out a sigh of relief.
He had more than ten people under him but only a few guns, making him the weakest among all the bosses. Now with four more guns and 500 rounds of ammunition, he stood taller and felt more confident. He wasn't in a hurry to leave; instead, he stayed to see what others had to offer, hoping to find something good.
"I'll go next," Du Jie said proactively.
Basically, it was done according to their seating arrangement and strength—the further out one sat, the weaker they were, and they showcased their goods earlier. Of course, Jiang the Great was an exception.
However, everyone couldn't possibly show all their good items; they were still waiting to exchange for others' goods later!
