Wei Yuan is the type of person who easily gets along with others, and as soon as he arrived at the Video Store, he struck up a conversation with a young man who frequently rented Video Disks. Today, Wei Yuan asked him to drive him to Xinhua Bookstore. 0

Xinhua Bookstore is relatively well-known in Jinghai City, where you can find any book you want, and all of them are genuine, although the prices tend to be higher. 0

When Wei Yuan entered the store with a bag full of books, the store manager noticed him and seemed a bit puzzled. Although it wasn't common for someone to come into a bookstore to rob it these days, the manager was wary since the owner had previously offended someone, and he feared trouble might arise. 0

"Sir, are you here to buy books?" the manager personally came out to greet him. 0

"No, I'm here to sell books!" Wei Yuan replied with a smile. 0

Then Wei Yuan opened the bag and took out several books, placing them on the table in front of the manager. "These are all genuine books, just taken from the factory. You usually get your books at a lower price; I'll give you an 20% discount!" 0

The manager looked confused. "Sir, this might be a bit against the rules? We usually source our books from designated suppliers. If we were to buy from you now, I’m afraid I can't make that decision." 0

Wei Yuan smiled and said, "In business, you can't always stick to the rules. The rule of a businessman is to gain maximum profit in the shortest time possible. If you acquire high-quality goods at a low price, your profits will naturally be high. Don't you agree?" 0

The manager scratched his head. "That's true, but I can't make that decision entirely on my own. If the owner questions it later, I won't be able to bear the consequences. To put it bluntly, if I take your books and can't sell them, I'll be in trouble..." 0

At that moment, Wei Yuan faintly caught a whiff of a delicate fragrance that grew stronger; it was the authentic Jade Body Fragrance, incomparable to any so-called luxury perfume. As he felt it getting closer, he heard a voice like a golden oriole say, "How could such books possibly not sell? They are beautifully printed and mostly appeal to the general public. If you don't want them, I might just buy them!" 0

Wei Yuan recognized that voice as incredibly familiar. Turning around, he saw a stunningly beautiful face smiling sweetly at him. "So how much are these books? If the price is right, I’d like to pick a few to take home." 0

As she spoke, Lan Xue winked at him with her beautiful big eyes sending signals his way. Wei Yuan responded with his gaze. Upon hearing this, the manager turned back and asked, "Miss, do you really think if these books were in the store you'd be willing to pay for them?" 0

Lan Xue smiled and said, "They look quite good; let me open them up and take a look at the content. If it's suitable, I'll definitely buy some. Your question is strange; when we come to a bookstore to buy books, it should just be about whether they are suitable or not—does it matter where they come from?" 0

The manager glanced at her and couldn't help but be captivated by Lan Xue's stunning beauty. Hearing her articulate words combined with her high-end sportswear clearly indicated she wasn't just some hired accomplice. He nodded in agreement and said, "Absolutely!" 0

Wei Yuan saw a glimmer of hope with Lan Xue's help and quickly leaned over to the store manager, whispering, "Brother, you see, you're also working here. You just want to earn a little more money without making mistakes. What does it matter where the goods come from? You're handling the procurement anyway. It's clear you're a senior manager; you can make this decision!" 0

A few flattering words from Wei Yuan made the other party feel elated. The manager, being quite experienced, naturally understood that Wei Yuan's words had deeper implications and that there must be benefits involved: "Hehe, that makes sense." 0

Seeing an opportunity, Wei Yuan got straight to the point and quietly leaned in closer, saying, "How about this? Your procurement price is twelve to fifteen yuan per book. If you pick up the goods yourself, I'll give you ten yuan per book. The procurement order will still state twelve to fifteen yuan. What do you think? I will have a steady stream of new books in the near future." 0

Upon hearing this, the manager couldn't help but chuckle. If what Wei Yuan said was true and he had that many books, he could easily make several thousand yuan in extra income over a month. For someone working a regular job, that was quite tempting! 0

After reaching a private agreement, the manager remained cautious and only gave an eight yuan down payment per book, stating that the rest would be settled once they sold out and he restocked. He added, "Please understand; let's sell these first and see how they do. I can always buy back any remaining copies myself!" 0

Finally, the transaction was successful. After leaving his phone number, Wei Yuan took the few hundred yuan given by the manager and prepared to leave. He felt a bit ridiculous about this deal; it seemed more troublesome than selling a house—selling a few books required a down payment... 0

At least he got the money, but Wei Yuan didn't expect much from the bookstore sales. Although Xinhua Bookstore had plenty of foot traffic, there were even more books available. His few dozen books would quickly get lost in the vast sea of titles, let alone be purchased. 0

So Wei Yuan didn't anticipate making much money from the bookstore; he just wanted to recoup his initial investment first. To truly sell those books at a good price, he would need to find another way! 0

After waiting at the street corner for a while, Wei Yuan saw Lan Xue walking out of the bookstore. Contrary to his expectations, she wasn't greeted by a luxury car like in movies; instead, she rode a delicate bicycle with books in its basket. As she turned the corner and spotted Wei Yuan standing at the street corner, she smiled slightly at him. 0

This smile surprised Lan Xue; after three years of school together, she rarely saw Wei Yuan smile. Nervously stepping on her pedal caused her bicycle chain to slip... 0

To mask her nervousness, Lan Xue jumped off her bike and asked Wei Yuan, "Why are you still here?" 0

Wei Yuan replied, "I have to thank you for being my book proxy." 0

Lan Xue laughed at this: "More like my free book proxy!" 0

Seeing her radiant smile made Wei Yuan curious as he asked, "You usually seem strong in your studies; your business acumen is quite impressive too." 0

Lan Xue sighed helplessly and said, "My family is all in business, so I've been forced to learn from a young age!" 0

The two stood on the street chatting, gradually deepening their understanding of each other. It turned out that their impressions of one another had changed; beyond the superficial appearances they initially saw, each might possess various lesser-known aspects. 0

At this moment, Wei Yuan noticed that Lan Xue's bicycle was broken. He knew that the nearest repair shop around Xinhua Bookstore was about a half-hour walk away. 0

"Your bike seems to be broken. Let me fix it for you," Wei Yuan offered. 0

Lan Xue looked around and noticed that there were many pedestrians at the street corner. To avoid any awkwardness while Wei Yuan repaired the bike, he suggested, "How about we fix it at the end of the alley instead?" 0

"There's no need to go through so much trouble." 0

Since Wei Yuan had been riding a bicycle to school for a long time, fixing it was a piece of cake for him, even without using Restorative Power. He bent down to take a look, asked Lan Xue for a tissue, grabbed the chain, gave it a quick adjustment, and after stepping on the pedal once, it was all set. 0

At that moment, behind them, a boy with a resentful gaze stared at Lan Xue's back and muttered to himself, "No wonder he keeps his distance from me; turns out he's with this guy. Why is it that in your eyes, I'm not even as good as this loser? I won't accept this!" 0

After his self-talk, he quickly ran up. At this point, Wei Yuan had already sensed someone was approaching from behind and became alert as he quickened his pace. 0
