Who would have thought that treasure hunting would yield no results for so many years? Yet sometimes, fate loves to play tricks, unexpectedly leaving opportunities for certain individuals.
For instance, someone like Ziyan, who was completely unaware and solely focused on creating her own Cycle of Fate, a person whose past life was filled with misfortune.
Little did she know that such an astonishing stroke of luck would suddenly fall upon her, a traveler from another world.
This situation could only be described as the classic saying: "The flowers bloom where there is intention, while the willows grow where there is none," for both Ling Yuxuan and Ziyan.
With such a significant treasure about to appear before them, how could Ling Yuxuan not feel filled with anticipation and excitement? Although Ziyan was still completely oblivious to the truth, she too was brimming with a vague curiosity and hope.
With their hearts full of expectation, everything was ready. The dust in front began to dissipate, and the fog seemed to lighten.
The five of them, along with a group of beasts, began to approach the mountain top in a grand manner, led by the brave Star and the fearless Little Python.
After walking for a short while and rounding a hill that resembled a screen, they stood at the mountain top. It was an enormous cliff, and Star was the first to stop as the five stood at the edge.
Little Python slowly climbed up to the middle of the cliff's top from the right side, using its already injured head to dig through some loose sand and stones to create a small path. Then it looked back at everyone as if signaling them to follow its route.
Thus, Star led his pair of Little Tigers up the small path, gradually making their way toward the cliff's summit.
Ling Yuxuan squinted slightly and then embraced Ziyan as they leaped up along the path. The three behind them and several brave Spirit Monkeys followed closely behind.
Before long, these fortunate individuals and a group of clever spirit beasts reached the top of the cliff.
Standing at the summit revealed that what appeared from the outside to be an extremely steep cliff surrounded by dense forest was actually different. In the center of this cliff was a sunken pit.
It was simply not visible from the outside. In this pit's center stood a structure made of countless stones resembling a square mud-roofed house typical of the West.
Ziyan felt somewhat confused and couldn't help but ask Ling Yuxuan, "Could it be that someone lives here in this heart of the cliff?"
"Anything is possible; why don't we go down and investigate?"
Ling Yuxuan flickered with mysterious allure in those captivating eyes, lifting his chin towards the stone house.
He then asked, "Are you afraid? There might be numerous traps there, and we could go there at any moment without returning."
Ziyan looked at him and blinked her big eyes, then answered decisively, "If you're not afraid, then I'm not afraid either. Anyway, wherever you go, I'll accompany you. If we can't get out, we'll— we'll still be together, right?" After saying this, she gazed at Ling Yuxuan with tender affection and a hint of shyness.
"Mm!"
Listening to the words of his beloved, Ling Yuxuan felt deeply gratified and gazed back at Ziyan for a moment. He gently caressed her silky Silken Hair, then, in front of the three behind them, he unabashedly kissed Beloved Child on the forehead.
He then tightly wrapped his arms around her slender waist and leaped towards the small houses ahead.
The houses had long fallen into disrepair, covered in thick dust. The house on the left had collapsed; upon closer inspection, it seemed that this house had been brought down by Little Python during its visit here, causing it to collapse with a loud crash due to an unfortunate misstep, sending dust soaring into the sky.
The small house in the center appeared to be the most sturdy; its door was wide open, and there was another room on the right that had not collapsed but felt precarious nonetheless.
While everyone was still pondering, Little Python had already darted into the central small house, closely followed by two Little Tigers.
Thus, Ling Yuxuan took Ziyan's hand and stepped into the central small house as well.
Upon entering the small house, they found nothing particularly unusual. In the center stood a simple wooden table surrounded by several small stools. On the left wall hung a few unused fire starters.
In front of the inner wall of the small house was an incense table, which displayed a portrait of an unknown figure. The portrait appeared to be a handcrafted image of a valiant warrior.
Ling Yuxuan and Ziyan observed carefully but could not discern anything unusual from the painting.
However, Little Python had already rushed to the incense table and swept its tail across the incense burner in front of it, producing a series of dull rumbling sounds.
At that moment, the incense table automatically moved one meter to the right, revealing an entrance to an underground passage before everyone's eyes.
Ziyan immediately turned to glance at the few torches hanging on the left wall and muttered to herself, "No wonder there are so many torches on this wall; they must be for use when entering this tunnel."
Ling Yuxuan chuckled lightly and affectionately ruffled her hair. While the two were secretly enjoying their moment, three Masked Men each raised a torch.
Then, led by Xingchen and Little Python, a group of people carrying several wild beasts proceeded into the tunnel in an orderly fashion.
They descended along the stone steps into the underground, winding and dark, with no visible end. The ground and walls were filled with countless arrows stuck in them.
This was likely the reason why Xingchen and Little Python had sustained so many injuries. All the traps in the underground passage had already been triggered and fired.
So now, the group moved forward leisurely, completely free of danger.
After about half a stick of incense's worth of time, they finally reached their destination.
Before them lay an extremely spacious natural Cave, nearly the size of half a football field, filled with countless boxes stacked like a Hill, surrounded by a circle of white bones.
Ziyan curiously rushed to a large wooden box on the ground, casually kicked it open. When her gaze fell upon the items inside, even though she had mentally prepared herself, Ziyan was still stunned as if she had been electrocuted.
Before her were neatly arranged, gleaming Gold Ingots.
After a moment of shock, Ziyan snapped back to reality and quickly opened about ten more boxes, all containing the same sight.
Unable to help herself, she shook her head in disbelief, exclaiming "Tsk tsk tsk tsk—"
Even the Masked Men behind her stood there wide-eyed and speechless, their eyes shining with amazement.
Only Ling Yuxuan narrowed his eyes slightly; although he felt a storm of emotions inside, he maintained an outward appearance of coolness and composure.
"Hey, come over here!"
Ziyan excitedly grabbed two Gold Ingots, waving her hands as she walked up to Ling Yuxuan and linked her arm with his wrist. She then approached the wooden boxes again, pointing at the various sizes of boxes with the hand holding the Gold Ingots, chattering non-stop.
Looking up at Ling Yuxuan, who still maintained a cold and composed demeanor, she couldn't help but frown and ask, "We found so much gold, aren't you happy?"
"Of course not. What would you think if I told you this is only one-third of all the treasures?" Ling Yuxuan replied with a calm smile.
At that moment, Ling Yuxuan was not solely immersed in the treasure that resembled a Hill; instead, he turned his head towards the pile of white bones on the ground and began inspecting them one by one. The throats and chest bones of all the skeletons were bluish-black, indicating they had died from poison.
It seemed these were the Death Warriors who had chosen to be buried with the treasure to keep their secrets.
Seeing that Ling Yuxuan was not focused on the wooden boxes filled with gold and silver treasures, Ziyan quietly approached him and followed him in exploring the white bones.
They walked around until they had circled the entire Secret Chamber without discovering anything.
Just as everyone was about to feel disappointed, the group of animals that had entered earlier gathered at the right corner of the Cave.
Little Python pressed its head tightly against the wall in the corner, rubbing its body against it repeatedly as if trying to knock it down. Two Spirit Monkeys were making a ruckus at the wall, and one named Little Spirit even ran over to Ling Yuxuan, tugging at his pant leg with its front limbs.
Clearly, they had discovered that there must be something extraordinary behind that wall—
