The next day.
As the sun rose, Ziyan quickly got out of bed and, with the help of her maid Yang Xiaodie, finished dressing and grooming herself.
Noticing that Ling Young Master was not around, she stretched and stepped out into the corridor on the second floor.
There, she saw a familiar tall figure standing with his back to her, gazing thoughtfully at something by the entrance on the first floor.
Curiosity welled up in Ziyan; surely someone had arrived at the front door?
She craned her neck to look in that direction and guessed what she might see.
To her surprise, Ziyan spotted Yan Laoguai standing solemnly at the entrance of her yard, looking very dignified. Beside him was Lu Yuan, who appeared equally troubled.
Although the yard gate had been opened by the servants, neither of them had entered. They both seemed burdened with heavy thoughts, giving off a rather oppressive atmosphere.
It seemed that a good show was about to begin! Ziyan's heart skipped a beat as she prepared herself to watch closely.
She took her time descending to the first floor, finally arriving in front of Yan Laoguai and the others.
Upon seeing Ziyan approach, Yan Laoguai immediately knelt down before her with a loud thud.
What was going on?
Usually, they only knelt on one knee. It seemed his feelings for this junior sister were quite extraordinary! Although he had slapped her in front of everyone at the tavern yesterday, it was likely that he felt more pain in his heart than anyone else.
Just after one night had passed, he knelt before her again; there must be quite a story behind this.
Ziyan stared at Yan Laoguai for a while. What hidden feelings were there between them? She pondered this question in her mind. It was becoming increasingly interesting!
"Are you doing this to make me yield? Since my arrival has brought you so much trouble, why did you bother to bring me here in the first place? If I hadn’t come, wouldn’t the Grand Elder still be the actual leader in the hearts of Second Elder, Three Elders, and all disciples of Heavenly Pivot Sect? That would have been much better! Now you’re all put in such a difficult position; isn’t this just adding unnecessary complications?"
After finishing her words, Ziyan fixed her gaze on Yan Laoguai, eager to see how he would respond.
"No, no, no—Master really misunderstood. This matter is not difficult for me; I just feel sorry for Junior Sister and am grateful for the care and affection that Master and Junior Sister have shown me in the past. In fact, this matter can be easily resolved. I only ask Master to handle Junior Sister leniently, and I will bear the rest alone."
Yan Laoguai spoke excitedly, his tone slightly elevated as he expressed his thoughts.
As soon as Yan Laoguai finished speaking, Qiansha Jun Luyuan immediately knelt on one knee, saying, "Lu Yuan is willing to share the burden with the Great Elder."
He glared at Yan Laoguai for a moment longer before turning to glance at Second Elder Lu Yuan.
Ziyan quickly processed the situation and then nodded heavily, saying, "Alright! It seems you all want to be heroes. However, if you all take on the role of heroes, then this newly appointed Sect Leader should rightly be seen as a little bear despised by everyone."
"Uh?" Yan Laoguai and Lu Yuan exchanged glances, and after a few seconds, they understood.
They were not foolish; they realized that if the New Sect Leader started off by taking action against all three elders, how could he establish himself in the Heavenly Pivot Sect? That would be no different from staging a coup.
If this continued to escalate, it was likely that the entire Heavenly Pivot Sect would fall into chaos and lose its cohesion.
In an instant, both of them fell silent.
"Alright, follow me," Ziyan said as he shot a fierce glare at the two elders.
He decided to head to the dungeon but realized he did not know which way to go.
"Second Elder, please lead the way. To the dungeon!" Ziyan had no choice but to turn to Lu Yuan for instructions.
"Understood! I will lead the way right now," Lu Yuan replied and quickly stepped ahead of Ziyan to guide them.
Before long, they appeared in the corridor leading to the dungeon in a grand procession.
The dungeon was not too dark; along the walls at intervals were lit torches that burned brightly.
Thus, following the well-lit passageway, they soon arrived at the cell where Charming Consort Hong Lianhua was being held.
Compared to the surprise of last night, Hong Lianhua now appeared particularly quiet, only glancing at Ziyan and the others when they arrived.
Ziyan gestured towards Lu Yuan to open the prison door, and Lu Yuan understood, prompting the guards to unlock it.
Thus, Ziyan led everyone a few steps into the cell. Upon careful observation, she found that this place was not as dirty and chaotic as the exaggerated depictions she had seen in television and movies in her past life.
"Three Elders, did you have a comfortable night?" Ziyan asked with a hint of sarcasm.
Hong Lianhua was momentarily at a loss for words, lowering her head in silence.
"Hmph! Aren't you just unhappy with 'Thank you for everything you have done for this Sect Leader, I am very satisfied'? You know the Gate Regulations of our Heavenly Pivot Sect, so you should be aware of the punishment you will face next, right?" Ziyan continued.
"I know. Is the Sect Leader satisfied now?" Hong Lianhua realized she could not escape death and no longer had much concern, unlike her panic from last night.
"Heh heh, what am I satisfied with? It should be you who is satisfied. Didn't you wish for the Heavenly Pivot Sect to disband sooner? Otherwise, you wouldn't have done so many outrageous things. I don't know who you think you're doing this for—your master or your father? Or perhaps these two senior brothers, the Grand Elder and Second Elder, who are always willing to risk their lives for you?" Ziyan said indignantly while pointing at Yan Laoguai and Lu Yuan.
After a brief pause without anyone daring to speak up, she continued her tirade: "Last night, the Grand Elder held out until dawn for you at the Yard Entrance of 'Thank you for everything you have done for this Sect Leader, I am very satisfied.' And so did the Second Elder. Sigh—Three Elders! What should I say about you? At your age, you're still such a troublesome fool. I guess you've caused quite a bit of trouble for the Grand Elder and the others in the past too?"
Ziyan intentionally made pointed remarks to provoke Charming Consort Hong Lianhua into revealing her true feelings and perhaps confessing the truth.
Charming Consort Hong Lianhua looked shocked at Ziyan before turning her gaze towards Yan Laoguai and Lu Yuan.
Moments later, with a face full of shame, Hong Lianhua's expression gradually softened, losing the arrogance and provocation she had shown earlier.
"Senior Brother, I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean to make things difficult for you. You know my temper; all these years, it's been you supporting and promoting Heavenly Pivot Sect from within and without. In our hearts, you're our rightful Leader! But this little girl thinks she can lead us just because of that broken piece of jade? I'm just not convinced."
"Have you lost your mind? That is a tradition that has been upheld for hundreds of years. That is the only token representing the identity of a Leader. Broken jade? How can you say such disrespectful things? I-I'll just clean up my act then."
Yan Laoguai was so enraged he seemed like an angry lion ready to charge at his junior sister.
However, Ziyan knew very well that he might just be putting on a show for her benefit.
However, Ziyan chose to teleport and stand between him and Charming Consort Hong Lianhua at the first moment. She did not want to force them into a corner; since they could pretend, she could do the same.
"Old Monster, you mustn't act recklessly. Thank you for everything you have done for this Sect Leader, I am very satisfied. You said you would govern the Heavenly Pivot Sect with virtue. Are you trying to plunge Thank you for everything you have done for this Sect Leader, I am very satisfied. into deep waters?"
The last sentence completely awakened Yan Laoguai and stopped his nearly mad actions.
"Sigh! Subordinate was wrong." He immediately knelt down again.
"Great Elder, I understand your feelings. You are frustrated because of unfulfilled expectations!" Ziyan glanced at Yan Laoguai and all the people present from the Heavenly Pivot Sect.
Ziyan then spoke loudly, "Since I am now your Sect Leader, I have the right to implement my management methods. Take the Three Elders as an example; over these years, she has contributed some effort to the Heavenly Pivot Sect, so in consideration of her unwavering support for the Great Elder in managing the Heavenly Pivot Sect's affairs over the years, I will spare her from death. However, she must accept the challenge from Thank you for everything you have done for this Sect Leader, I am very satisfied."
Having said that, Ziyan turned her gaze back to Yan Laoguai and others, then continued, "The game we discussed last night regarding the industry has changed: this time only I and the Three Elders will compete, with a limit of one month. I will be responsible for improving hotel performance, while the Three Elders will be responsible for improving Qingfeng Tower's performance. If I lose, I willingly transfer General Heng's jade pendant to the Great Elder, and from then on, the Great Elder will take on the role of Sect Leader of the Heavenly Pivot Sect; however, if the Three Elders lose, I will directly take over management of her industry or arrange for someone capable to manage it. Furthermore, she must serve me as a subordinate; if she has any ulterior motives again, she will be dealt with according to Gate Regulations! No one is allowed to raise any objections."
After fully expressing her decision, Ziyan slightly raised her chin and scanned all the disciples present.
Finally, she fixed her gaze on Charming Consort Hong Lianhua and slowly uttered two words: "How—about it?"
"Sect Leader, this is inappropriate. You are already our de facto Sect Leader; how can you use your position to gamble with Subordinates? It cannot be—" Yan Laoguai could no longer hold back and intended to offer heartfelt persuasion.
"There is no need to persuade Thank you for everything you have done for this Sect Leader, I am very satisfied. Thank you for everything you have done for this Sect Leader, I am very satisfied. never goes back on decisions." Ziyan raised her hand to immediately stop Yan Laoguai's potential lengthy nagging.
Tch, if my lady doesn't put on a grand display of competition and challenge like this, I'm afraid you'll all think I'm just a useless person. Ziyan constantly wanted to complain inwardly.
