In the Mars Alliance School, whether you are the child of a celebrity or an ordinary citizen, everyone is treated equally. Kairuot and Fairleya were seated in the back row next to each other, not to make things difficult for them, but because both of them were significantly taller than their classmates. The head teacher, Fair Connie, hoped they could reconcile, but this seemed to be more challenging than she had anticipated.
Since entering the Mars Alliance School's Junior Class, Kairuot had been quite unaccustomed to the rigid teaching style. During every public class, he felt like he was sitting on pins and needles; if it weren't for Fairleya's piercing gaze, he might have actually tried to sneak out to bask in the sun.
In class, Kairuot often asked bizarre questions:
"Why do Earthlings look so ugly while I look so handsome?"
"What kind of mistake would get someone sent to Earth? I really want to go to Earth..."
"Is it because Earthlings eat tastier food that their cognitive ability is lower than Martians?"
"If we brought Earthlings to Mars, could their intelligence help take care of pets?"
His questions always left the teachers speechless. Kairuot's behavior was truly out of sync with Martian norms; he was too casual and often mentioned "Earth," which led his classmates to nickname him "Earth Special."
"Earth Special" never cared about his classmates' opinions or antics. When he first arrived, his classmates enjoyed playing pranks on him by sticking notes and funny cartoons on his back. He found it amusing and sometimes left them there for days, letting the entire school know and becoming a source of laughter.
Some classmates even placed small animals like insects and snakes in his desk. Kairuot wasn't afraid at all; he treated them as pets. He even took time to find trees and vines around the school, using small tools to make beautiful cages for the animals, which attracted many classmates who wanted their own cages.
Kairuot was quite chivalrous in class, always willing to help. Whenever the school organized outings or sports activities, if any classmate had something too heavy to carry, they would hand it over to him. He was always loaded with things on his back and couldn't carry any more in his hands, yet he never complained. When someone asked for his help, he was thrilled and ran faster than anyone else; it was hard to tell where all his strength came from.
Sometimes, Fairleya couldn't stand by any longer and wanted to stop her classmates' behavior. However, seeing Kairuot happily and foolishly doing things for his classmates with a big smile on his face made her too lazy to speak up.
Although Kairuot's personality annoyed quite a few people, he also made some friends, mostly girls.
One morning during class, Fairleya noticed that Kairuot was acting a bit unusual. He was sitting sideways, covering one side of his face, patiently waiting for class to start. Unable to resist her curiosity, Fairleya threw out a question: "What's wrong with you?"
Kairuot covered his face and didn't respond. Fairleya, curious, leaned over to take a look and discovered that his left eyelid was swollen, his face was bruised in several places, and his lips were swollen and disfigured. She pulled at the corner of her mouth and asked again, "Did you get into a fight?"
Kairuot nodded. Just as Fairleya was about to mock him harshly, another girl from the class, Helena, ran over and stood in front of Kairuot, her face flushed as she said, "Thank you! Thank you so much!"
Kairuot awkwardly smiled and nodded in response to her gratitude.
Fairleya pressed on, "What exactly happened?"
Kairuot didn't answer, but Helena explained—last night on their way back to school from Alliance Town, they encountered a group of thugs armed with knives and clubs. All the classmates with her scattered in fear, but Kairuot, seeing what was happening, rushed over without hesitation to protect her and bravely fought against the thugs. It was his stubbornness that scared them off; perhaps not wanting to cause a fatal incident, they eventually fled after a scuffle.
Seeing Kairuot injured for being brave made Fairleya feel pity. She stepped forward and grabbed Kairuot's hand, saying, "Come on, I'll take you to the hospital."
Kairuot stubbornly shook his head and said, "I'm fine! I don't have the habit of treating minor injuries."
But at that moment, Helena also stepped forward and grabbed Kairuot's other hand, insisting, "No! You got hurt for me; I have to take you to the hospital no matter what. Otherwise, I won't feel good about it."
Kairuot was thus escorted by two beautiful women to the hospital for treatment. This was Kairuot's first time in a hospital. Normally, despite being such a big man, as soon as he entered the hospital and smelled the disinfectant, he started screaming. When he saw the needles, he was so frightened that he wanted to escape. If it weren't for the two beautiful women keeping an eye on him, he might have fled from the hospital.
"This guy is really something else," Fairleya thought to herself as she watched his comical behavior, unable to help but sigh.
