Years later, when the name Kairuoka was mentioned, no one among the Martians was unaware of it. The reason this name resonated so loudly was due to his remarkable achievements after joining the Mars Fleet as a soldier.
At the age of 38, Kairuoka completed all his studies at Mars Alliance School and graduated early. By that time, his skills had reached the ninth stage, allowing him to fly freely in the air without piloting a spacecraft, simply by relying on his abilities to soar into the clouds.
However, those who reached the ninth stage would experience a challenging breakthrough period, with only one in ten million able to break through the bottleneck and become outstanding among thousands. This difficult bottleneck period required talent, time, and relentless effort; even a genius like Kairuoka was stuck for over twenty years.
During these twenty years, Fair Connie also worked hard, advancing from the second stage to the ninth stage. At this point, they could both ride on floating clouds and fly together in the sky, which became one of Kairuoka and Fair Connie's favorite competitions.
Just as Kairuoka felt his body entering a state of complacency regarding upgrades, an unwelcome war broke out.
A massive fleet had established itself near Mars' orbital path, belonging to Capricorn Planet.
Capricorn Planet was the result of technological advancements by the Bel Tribe; the entire planet was constructed using artificial intelligence technology. Strictly speaking, it was a gigantic spaceship. Its size was about one-third that of Mars Planet and appeared from afar like an oval-shaped giant monster. After an independence war three thousand years ago, Capricorn Planet transformed from a technologically constructed colonial planet into an independent planet. However, due to population growth and family disputes over three millennia, the government of the Capricorn sector began to harbor ambitions of invading Mars to expand their territory—because they deeply believed they were also part of Mars and deserved the right to compete for this land.
Another significant reason for their invasion was that Capricorn Planet was a mobile planet. Its power came from capturing atoms in space as fuel for nuclear fusion reactions. The immense planet relied solely on capturing atoms in space for energy, which was far from sufficient when combined with its internal energy production needs. This led to severe energy shortages on Capricorn Planet, as they collected various energies from other planets but always fell short, hindering their development.
As a result, young people represented by Belche advocated using their powerful military forces to plunder other planets. Although King Bel Ao strongly opposed this idea, he was helpless as the Bel Tribe was a prominent family on Capricorn Planet. The proposal passed with a majority vote in Congress and gained significant support. Ultimately, Capricorn Planet formed a massive fleet specifically for invading and plundering other planets.
This fleet arrived at Mars' orbital path, putting the entire Martian continent on high alert.
Mars underwent a total mobilization for war; all aspiring youths aged sixty and above eagerly enlisted in the military to join the planetary war. Naturally, Kairuoka also actively joined without hesitation.
Due to Kairuoka's excellent physical fitness, knowledge of mecha theory, and performance in mecha training assessments, there was no need for further special training. He was quickly assigned to the reserve team of the Mars Legion's Kairo Fleet. After three months of intensive mecha training, Kairuoka's exceptional learning ability was demonstrated as he passed the simulated combat test on his first attempt and was finally able to operate a Fighter.
At this point, the battle had lasted a month. The Kairo Battleship's Mecha Battalion had suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment. As soon as Kairuoka arrived at the Mecha Unit, he was deployed to the most intense frontline, promptly joining the fight against alien warships.
On this day, after another batch of mechas from the Kairo Battleship's Mecha Battalion launched into combat, not a single Fighter returned. These battle-hardened pilots all vanished into the vastness of space. Faced with the formidable Space Invaders, the commander of the Kairo Battleship held little hope for this new group of flying warriors. With no way to ascertain the enemy's capabilities, he could only passively defend for as long as possible.
With a command from the officer, another batch of Fighters took off into space, including Kairuoka. Their mission was to repel the Alien Invaders beyond Mars Planet's safe space and prevent them from entering Mars' defensive perimeter.
As expected by the commander, once their Fighters reached space, they were left only to endure attacks without any means to retaliate. The enemy Fighters seemed enchanted; all weapons on Kairuoka's Fighter had no effect on them, merely scratching the surface. One by one, their mecha Fighters were shot down, with none able to escape the grim fate of being gunned down.
Only Kairuoka remained in his Fighter. Utilizing his adept piloting skills and tactical application, along with his extraordinary Cosmic Awareness, he managed to evade the enemy for quite some time. He could not defeat them, nor could they capture him. Suddenly, all enemy Fighters began advancing deeper into space toward Mars Planet, leaving only one mecha to confront Kairuoka's machine.
From the shape and markings of this Fighter, it was clear that it was a command Fighter—imposing and powerful. It charged at Kairuoka’s Fighter with great force, attempting to crush him using its mass. Kairuoka swiftly maneuvered his mecha aside to avoid the collision. Then it transformed into humanoid form and swung its fists at Kairuoka’s Fighter, but he dodged again.
The enemy clearly underestimated Kairuoka’s Fighter and began playing a cat-and-mouse game with him. Time passed slowly as they found themselves unable to gain an advantage over him. Frustrated by their inability to succeed and unwilling to prolong this stalemate any longer, they finally activated their ultimate plan—the Laser Energy Weapon—unleashing dozens of beams from their core that relentlessly pursued Kairuoka’s mecha. As he dodged through the web of light energy projectiles raining down on him, he ultimately got hit.
Kairuoka's mecha began emitting crash warnings. The enemy felt quite pleased; however, something incredible happened—Kairuoka ejected from the cockpit and drifted into space. Everyone knew that space was a death zone for humans; escaping meant facing certain doom—
Indeed, as soon as Kairuoka ejected, he felt an immediate lack of oxygen and discomfort. The intense cosmic radiation caused his blood to expand; his body felt like it was about to explode. His heart raced suddenly, and his head throbbed painfully—it seemed like a precursor to death. Kairuoka focused on utilizing his ninth-stage energy cultivation technique to regulate his body's energy flow and counteract external cosmic energy. Unexpectedly, this approach proved effective—like releasing decades of accumulated power in that one moment; with a thunderous sound akin to mountains collapsing, the internal force within Kairuoka collided with cosmic energy and exploded outward, shaking even the enemy Fighter.
Who could believe that a single person could unleash such immense energy? Only in this airless void could his internal power reach its peak potential. Kairuoka realized that his ninth-stage inner strength had finally broken through! The invisible meridians throughout his body had fully connected; internal and external forces merged into one, evolving his strength to an entirely new level.
When the alien commander realized that his mecha was in danger, Kairuoka had already tightly adhered to his mecha in the blink of an eye, unable to shake him off no matter how hard he tried. What he didn't expect was that Kairuoka gradually controlled the enemy commander with his powerful mind, allowing him to easily open the mecha's hatch and enter the control chamber. Kairuoka completely took control of the enemy's mecha and fully utilized the captured enemy Command Mecha's formidable firepower, starting a massacre in space.
Facing his own Command Ship firing upon him, the enemy mechas often did not understand what was happening before they perished in space. This completely disrupted the alien mecha formation. By the time the enemy realized what was happening, they had already lost more than half of their mechas and were unable to continue advancing toward Mars. The enemy abandoned dozens of damaged mechas and quickly retreated back to their alien battleship base.
This battle allowed the Martians to breathe a sigh of relief. When Kairuoka contacted the Kairo Fleet and brought the mecha back to the Mars Alliance Kairo Battleship's mecha base, he received a special welcome from the base. This victory made Kairuoka famous; he became a great hero of the Fleet.
This was a significant victory for the Mars Alliance in their war against the aliens and a crucial turning point concerning the survival of the Martians. The mecha captured by Kairuoka provided substantial assistance for Martians to study alien weapon performance and develop weapons to counter them.
