New-Style Adhesive Mecha The experimental units were just deployed to Kairuoka's Sidoran Squadron, but Kairuoka was somewhat troubled because the firepower of these mechas seemed a bit weak. The Laser Weapon installed on them had low power, making it difficult to penetrate even ordinary mecha armor. However, it had notable advantages: it was small, could become invisible, and was fast, making it suitable for reconnaissance activities. Additionally, it could attach itself to other mechas, creating a dual-mecha effect.
After several experiments, Kairuoka creatively decided to attach all ten assigned New-Style Adhesive Mecha to his Reinforced Mech as auxiliary mechas.
Due to the headquarters not sending additional mechas for reinforcement, Kairuoka had to find another way to attack the alien logistics support forces.
Kairuoka knew that deploying just one squadron to confront a powerful transport fleet from Capricornian was somewhat overestimating his capabilities. After much consideration, he adopted a harassment tactic: if they could win, they would fight; if not, they would retreat. Initially, he sent a few mechas to harass the enemy, laying in ambush along the route of the Capricornian transport Fleet, coldly launching a few Missiles and firing some Laser Projectiles. After attacking, they quickly turned and fled—Kairuoka thought that if the aliens dared to send mechas after them, they would fall into a trap since the Sidoran Squadron had three Command Battleships and dozens of mechas, enough for a beautiful ambush.
However, the massive transport Fleet of Capricornian completely disregarded this harassment unit. They likely realized that this small Mecha Unit was intentionally trying to attract their attention and lead their mechas into an ambush set by the enemy. As a result, the Capricornian forces ignored this small unit and continued on their predetermined course.
After multiple failed attempts at baiting tactics, Kairuoka had no choice but to try other combat methods—he thought of utilizing the New-Style Adhesive Mecha. After some time experimenting, Kairuoka discovered that without closing the attachment switch on the adhesive mecha, it could not detach from the mecha it was attached to. Besides being too small to carry more than one person and having weak firepower, its stealth and rapid maneuverability were quite remarkable; it had approached enemy Command Ships multiple times without being detected.
Thus, Kairuoka finally conceived an ingenious tactic—he hurriedly sent a request to headquarters for a batch of High-Energy Nuclear Bomb Timers that could quickly attach to large warships.
To ensure everything went smoothly, Kairuoka required the pilots of the New-Style Adhesive Mecha to train repeatedly on their Command Battleship. Although the adhesive mechas had strong attachment capabilities, they could not approach enemy warships while both sides were flying at high speeds. Only when the mechas slowed down within a certain speed range could the adhesive mechas attach themselves and install the High-Energy Nuclear Bomb Timer.
They dispatched small reconnaissance aircraft repeatedly and found that the best way to approach the Capricornian Battleship was when the enemy's warships were several kilometers outside the base's protective perimeter. While waiting for orders to enter the base, the entire transport Fleet gradually slowed down and began hovering; this timing lasted just a few minutes. Their adhesive mechas had to quickly attach during this brief window and complete the installation of the High-Energy Nuclear Bomb Timer, leaving no room for error.
With all arrangements in place, ten of Kairuoka's New-Style Adhesive Mecha, equipped with High-Energy Nuclear Bomb Timers, flew into outer space. According to reconnaissance reports from space, the alien transport Fleet was approaching the Capricornian Battleship Base. The adhesive mechas swiftly closed in on the transport fleet; within minutes as the entire fleet slowed and hovered, they had attached themselves to critical points on the massive warships and installed timed nuclear bombs before quickly withdrawing unnoticed.
With intense explosions echoing through space, ten giant warships from the alien transport fleet were instantly incapacitated. This surprise attack caught Capricornian off guard; their so-called indestructible battleships lost combat capability in an instant. The entire fleet descended into chaos as they believed they faced a more formidable opponent and scattered in panic, blindly fleeing through space.
The Kairuoka squad took the opportunity to launch a series of powerful pursuits in space, causing the Capricornian transport fleet to suffer significant losses. Meanwhile, the Capricornian Battleship at the base, unable to ascertain the situation, chose to remain sheltered within the base and did not venture out for reinforcements. Thus, Kairuoka managed to destroy an alien transport fleet that was vastly superior in strength with just one squad's mechs, creating a miraculous victory of the few over the many in space warfare.
This battle dealt a heavy blow to the Capricornians.
The leadership of Capricornian, enraged, replaced the original Marshal and appointed a younger new Marshal. This Marshal, named Belche, is the son of the alien leader and is of similar age to Kairuoka. Despite his youth, Belche appears quite mature; he is not only skilled in strategy but also very decisive.
Upon taking office, he refused to negotiate with the Mars Alliance and issued orders to annihilate Mars within a year. To this end, he mobilized more than half of the planet's military forces and recklessly deployed Capricorn Planet's most powerful air combat units to engage in brutal space battles against the Martians. Both sides experienced victories and defeats, leading to a stalemate in the war.
The war consumed vast amounts of manpower and material resources from both sides, with both suffering painful losses on the battlefield.
Thirty years passed in the blink of an eye. Kairuoka had risen from Squad Leader to General at Mars Alliance Headquarters. Belche's threats had not materialized, and the door for negotiations had long since closed. The Capricornian Battleship Base remained stationed not far from Mars' orbit, continuing to be a persistent threat to the Martians, like a thorn in their throat, yet they were powerless against it.
